Setch Barn is an attractive barn conversion set just round the corner from the market square in Masham, North Yorkshire. With two bedrooms, including a ground floor king-size double and a first floor twin, the property can sleep four people. There is also a ground floor wet room and an open plan living area with a kitchen, a dining area and a sitting area. Outside, there is off road parking for two cars, plus a patio garden with furniture and a shed for bike storage. Setch Barn is a wonderfully-equipped cottage in a fantastic touring area.

Mostly ground floor. Two bedrooms: 1 x king-size double, 1 x first floor twin. Open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area. Wet room with shower, basin, bidet and WC.

Area
The historic little market town of Masham is situated in the lower reaches of pretty Wensleydale alongside the River Ure. Set in gently rolling farmland, the town boasts a huge market square, where a Wednesday market has been joined by a popular Saturday market. With so much to see and do in the area, this is a great place for a holiday in all seasons.

Bedroom upstairs is probably more suited to children and would benefit from some storage for clothes, apart from that the cottage was beautiful, location and facilities excellent For info .. . address given shows the cottage as no 1 Quaker Terrace it's actually no 23!! So found this a bit confusing

Such a lovely clean comfortable barn in a wonderful position for exploring the Yorkshire Dales.. Masham is very attractive and has loads of good eating places. Harrogate and Ripon are near and also Hawes where the Wensleydale Creamery is. Spent a lot in there including £30 on different unusual cheeses. The Co op backs on to the Barn so is really handy. We didn't find parking difficult. Great time. Thank you Joanne

Setch Barn cottage was everything we expected from the description .. ..a real credit to the owners. Great walking in the area and some very good pubs for eating and drinking..also with Masham being the home of two brewery's, Theakstons and The Black Sheep there was plenty of locally brewed beers to sample. The house is also around the corner from the supermarket so really handy for shopping...the town also has two excellent butchers. The cottage kitchen was so well equipped we ate in most of the time and made use of the facilities. Extremely comfortable and highly recommended property.

Setch Batch was cosy, immaculate,very comfortable and offered everything you would need.. Its situated perfectly right next to the co-op and close to many interesting shops,pubs and eateries but is quiet and peaceful. We"d definitely recommend it.

Overall the cottage was lovely.. Lots of equipment in the kitchen. Would have been nice to have a folder with information/things to do as we have had this in previous cottages and found it helpful. Cleanliness was overall fine but a bit more attention to smaller details would have been eg we found hairs in some of the drawers in the bedroom and a dead spider also lots of cobwebs in the bathroom. As mentioned by others the velux window in the master bedroom let in lots of light which meant my 18 month old struggled to sleep on a night as it was so bright. The cottage is well situated and is only a short walk into the centre of Masham. Overall we had a good stay.

The cottage itself was ok but had to keep the blinds drawn all the time for .... The cottage itself was ok but had to keep the blinds drawn all the time for people walking in front of the cottage also the shed was locked so we could not use the table and chairs for the outside area in the fine weather no information about the appliances (boiler controls etc)

All in all we couldn't have been more pleased with our stay.. We found the Barn to be spotlessly clean, very comfortable, warm and fully equipped with all we needed. The beds were comfy and the shower/toilet area superb. It's easy to find with good parking and quiet in the evening/night. We thought it's location is also ideal for exploring Masham and getting out into the surrounding countryside walks.

Wonderful well kept and equipped cottage. Arrived to find this beautifully well equipped cottage with parking space and all amenities. Really nice inside and plenty of room. very well equipped kitchen and luxury shower room. nice and quiet at night for decent nights sleep. warm and comfortable. large king-size bed in main bedroom and loved the quirky upstairs twin room. Location is great and as easy to access shopping, cafes, pubs and lovely little shops. Very central to see all the sights of the dales . Masham is a wonderful gem of a market town with friendly community. The owners have ensured this holiday accommodation is of great quality together with their caretaker providing immaculate cleaning and maintenance.. The cottage was lovely and modern.. I stayed with my 2 children and husband. They only downside to the cottage was, the neighbours were not pleasant. No one said hello despite me trying to make eye contact. A lot of noise can be heard from the attached house next door during the night. We parked our car next to the cottage and it was fairly tight amongst other users. But we still managed to get the car out. The only way to achieve privacy from the neighbours was to completely shut all blinds, but this also made the property seem a little claustrophobic. I wouldn’t book this cottage again, but simply because I would prefer a view. The cottage itself was modern, clean and well maintained.

Mrs Furby is a friendly, competent host who looks after the fine detail which makes your stay comfortable.. Sketch barn is a terrific barn conversion well laid out and has everything you need at hand. Everything is finished off to a high standard. Masham is lovely village and central to everything that you may need in this part of the Dales. Five star stay.

When you get back there are several excellent pubs serving beer from the two local breweries. We usually stay in one of the pubs but thought we would give self catering a go. Setch Barn looked to be a good place to start. Initial impressions were good, it is ideally situated in the town next to the co op, you could hear the cars but it wasn’t intrusive. The property itself is attractive, if unimaginatively styled, not quite a traditional barn in rural North Yorkshire. The quality of the furnishings is good. The main room and bedrooms are a good size, however the kitchen is rather on the small size. Unfortunately the property is very cold in winter, this was further compounded with the boiler breaking down twice in two days leaving us with out hot water on two occasions and no heating. Despite the help from Sykes the matter was unresolved so we abandoned our holiday early. We wouldn’t visit the property again, in our opinion the standard isn’t there to justify the high price. What a shame.

Lighting is quite poor so it is quite a gloomy atmosphere during winter. Unfortunately the property is very cold in winter, exacerbated by the tall ceilings. This was further compounded with the boiler breaking down twice in two days leaving us with out hot water on two occasions and no heating. Despite the help from Sykes the matter was unresolved so we abandoned our holiday early. We are not impressed with the response from the owner, hey ho. We wouldn’t visit the property again, nor would we recommend it. In our opinion the standard isn’t there to justify the high price. What a shame. We will stick to the good pubs which offer the comfort and more importantly warmth!

This is a beautiful holiday home, modern, clean & comfortable.. The bathroom is amazing. Ideal location for the town and walks from the door. Only small point to make is it wasnt clear what to do with re-cycling ie whether it all went in one bin. However, we'll certainly be back.

Great cottage and had everything you needed in a lovely location.. Cheers Beautifully maintained with quality fittings and furnishings throughout. Masham and the area had everything we wanted in facilities. Beautiful quiet kept village with p!enty of drinking and eating venues to choose from. The riverside park was beautifully kept with no litter and lovely walks . Easy road links to all parts of the Yorkshire dales. Great for families or couple's wanting a wonderful holiday.

The barn itself was very clean and comfortable, furnishing were of a very standard and could not be faulted in any way.. The outside "patio" was not accessible from the cottage and was not really enough space to be classed as a patio, we were unable to use this outside space as we would have liked. It should be made clear in the description that access is gained from going out the front door and along to the end of the barn. This was the only downside to our stay at this lovely barn.
