Area Roundstone is located on the western arm of Bertraghboy Bay in the Connemara district of County Galway. Seals rock (Chloch na Ron) is a big boulder that looks like an inverted bath tub and serves as a landmark at the entrance to Roundstone harbour. Roundstone Haven is another name for the bay. There are a variety of pubs, restaurants, cafes, stores, and a playground for kids at Roundstone. There is also a traditional Irish night in the summer and a number of events held there throughout the year. The remains of a monument to St. Brendan may be found on Inishnee, a small island in Roundstone Bay, and the bell tower of the Franciscan Monastery can be seen in the Michael Killeen Park. Gurteen and Dog's Bay beaches are only a 5-minute drive away, while other nearby activities include horseback riding, deep sea fishing, hill walking, and cycling. The Connemara Golf Club is located only eight miles from Roundstone, and further afield there is beautiful landscape to be enjoyed on foot, on bike, or in a car. Clifden, a busy town with lots to see, is close by, as is the Connemara National Park, and the capital of Galway can be reached in an hour by car.
Region Towering cliffs stand next to vast stretches of golden sand, whilst vast mountain ranges cradle cool, low-lying lakes. The Galway region epitomises the term ‘great outdoors’; with fantastic walking and cycling and exhilarating water sports.
