Ridge Cottage is a semi-detached, single-storey cottage in the hamlet of Whitridge, 10 miles from Morpeth in Northumberland. The cottage has a double and a twin room, a bathroom and a wet room. The kitchen has a dining area, and the sitting room has a gas fire. Outside is off road parking for three cars and a front patio with furniture and country views. Ridge Cottage makes a cosy year-round base for enjoying Northumberland's countryside, houses, castles and more.

All ground floor. Two bedrooms: 1 x double, 1 x twin. Bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC. Wet room with walk-in shower, basin and WC. Fitted kitcwith dining area. Sitting room with electric fire.

Area
The former farming hamlet of Whitridge is situated close to Scots Gap village, offering both a village shop and fantastic country store. Only five miles away from the National Trust property of Wallington Hall - with its associated gift shops, tea rooms and farm shop selling local produce - this lovely little settlement is surrounded by views of the Rothley Craggs. Rothley Folly, another National Trust property is nearby and can be seen from the hamlet. Other historic attractions include the village of Meldon and its thirteenth century church. At only five miles away, this is great place to walk to along pretty country lanes. Morpeth is only ten miles away and is set along the course of the River Wansbeck, offering various pubs, restaurants and shops.

Less than 24 hrs before our holiday we were told that we couldn’t have our chosen cottage in Anglesey.. We took Ridge Cottage so that we could get a holiday, but we were so disappointed at the location, totally unsuitable for us. Sykes Cottages we’re unable to offer us anything else, this led to us having a really disappointing holiday even though the cottage was fabulous. Just not suitable for 4 pensioners with one in a wheelchair.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ridge Cottage, Lyndsey and Vivienne were very welcoming and most helpful.. The welcome pack they gave us was most welcome after a long journey. The cottage is very comfortable and homely, set in beautiful surroundings, perfect for a peaceful get away, yet near to all the tourist attractions and beaches if required. We would definitely recommend Ridge Cottage and hope to visit again soon.

It was everything we had wished for and more.. They made my little girls dream come true by taking her pony on holiday. We were met by a beautiful hamper and were told some great ideas for days out. Nothing was too much for Vivianne and Lindsey, we would highly recommend this cottage.

Lovely secluded location and easy to find.. Friendly owners who kindly left us a basket of goodies and essentials on arrival. . Property is cosy and has everything you need. Loved the underfloor heating and separate wet room & bathroom. Loved the horses, chickens and farmland location and the beautiful star filled nights. We also had snow! Would definitely recommend and love to return

Lovely cottage in rural surroundings with great views.. Arrived to a spacious and very clean cottage with all amenities provided. Owners very helpful and friendly. a big thank you to Vivienne and Lindsey for making us most welcome in their lovely holiday cottage. The cottage is well equipped with plenty of space just wish the weather had been better so we could have enjoyed the wonderful patio area with all the pretty tubs of flowers. We also appreciated the wonderful little extras provided. It was such a treat to find the food hamper plus other items in the fridge. A really warm and welcoming idea along with a card and flowers. what a great couple. This it is lovely, quiet location which made relaxing a real plus feature. A wonderful cottage only matched by the friendliness of the adjoining owners.. One of the best holiday cottages my wife and I have ever rented. We have a handicapped grown up son so the wet room and wide doors within the cottage were a great boon to us. The cottage is located some way off the main road and shops are some way off but anyone who loves the countryside and the peacefulness will be more than satisfied. The cottages is well appointed with everything we needed for our holiday. It was extremely clean and well decorated My wife and I thought the welcome basket of goodies along with the fresh flowers were a lovely touch.Full marks to the owners. It was our first visit to Northumberland and its beautiful scenery along with this gem of a holiday base makes a return visit inevitable.

Ridge cottage is one of the best equipped holiday homes we have stayed in we were short of nothing, the owners are lovely.. Everything is done for your comfort. If you enjoy getting away from it all (intermittent phone and no wi-fi) but enjoy the birds singing and peace, quiet and countryside, walking and bike riding you will love this cottage, or if you just want to relax and wind down this is a superb place to stay.

We were very impressed with Rose Cottage, it felt like home from home.. We had intended to stay in early September as a celebration of our Golden Wedding anniversary, but my wife had to have a major op. on her spine, so we thought our break was lost. However, Sykes Cottages were very helpful and sympathetic and immediately contacted the cottage owners who agreed to move the booking date to October. This arrangement was very quickly made and confirmed much to our delight and some relief. The holiday home was in a quiet spot with lovely countryside all around and well placed for visits to several places of interest. We were made very welcome and would stay there again with no hesitation.

There were four of us staying at Ridge Cottage.. We all found it extremely comfortable and clean. All the equipment in the kitchen was of a very high standard, and we were delighted with our welcome hamper and the basics in the fridge. The photographs on the website did not do justice to the amount of space in the rooms, especially the sitting room. Ridge Cottage is in a good position for sightseeing. We were able to visit the Roman Wall, Keilder Water, National Trust properties, and the wonderful coastline. On the one wet day of our holiday we went into Newcastle on the Metro.

The owners are lovely, without being intrusive and the yummy welcome basket and flowers were an unexpected surprise! Thank you! All the little extras are on hand incase you forget anything and the cottage is well resourced. The cottage is found down a long bumpy track so you really are in the middle of the countryside and all the bonuses that come - owls, bats, nesting housemartins and fledglings being fed on top of our car was a delight and gorgeous views and sunsets. The surrounding areas really are beautiful and we only just scraped the surface during our week so another trip is being planned! Local shopping in Morpeth (about 10 miles away) is great - everything you need including the supermarkets. Lindisfarne was lovely but too busy but the quieter places such as Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh, Cresswell and Newton by the sea are fab! The latter especially for long dog walks along an unspoilt sandy beach.

A beautiful cottage in a stunning location.. Very peaceful which was exactly what we wanted. It's in a really convenient location to visit all the main parts of Northumberland yet is remote and quiet. The cottage was very cosy and warm and a lovely welcome basket of goodies was left for us. The thoughtfulness that the owners have put into equipping Ridge Cottage is so obvious.. The amount of information available by way of brochures was appreciated and the quality of crockery, cutlery and utensils is high. This is among the very best properties I have booked through Sykes. Remote ? Yes, but surrounded by grand scenery and the peacefulness allows refreshing relaxation. Remember to keep your petrol tank topped up!!!!

This recent stay was the first time Anna and I had had chance to explore the lovely county of Northumberland. The choice of accommodation can make a great influence on one's enjoyment of a holiday. Ridge Cottage was perfect in every way - the location was in the countryside, positioned in a very handy spot for visiting the main delights of the county - we went to Lindisfarne, Cragside, the lovely village of Morpeth and even manage a call-in at Newcastle. The cottage is well-equipped with modern utilities to fit the needs of any self-caterer, it was spotlessly clean, comfortable and private. There was plenty of wildlife in the area - we saw a hare and a great variety of birds. We will be returning for a future holiday - we have only scratched the surface of this delightful county

We had a most welcoming arrival, the drive to the area is most attractive as is the surrounding countryside, the walks are most easily accessible and the cottage itself is warm and comfortable throughout. The cottage was exactly as described and we could not fault the accommodation. There was a welcome pack awaiting us when we arrived which was really appreciated.There were plenty of nearby walks to exercise our dog and definitely dog friendly. We enjoyed ourselves so much we intend to return for another couple of weeks in 2014 as we have family nearby and it enables us to take a break and also fit in the family visits. There are many places to visit and these are well known to us.
