The apartment was set out nice, lots of room and a relaxing energy (The other half was a big fan of the comfy bed).. The surrounding farm and walks were brilliant and gave a real sense of the countryside charm we longed for on our escape. A particular asset was the high walled lawn half way around the estate that was a perfect place for a picnic on summers evenings. The downstairs kitchen and games room were a lovely addition although I personally didn't spend much more than 5 minutes in each. The guest WiFi struggled and was measured at 2mb, Not a big issue for us personally but something to note. The main issue with the property was the smell of the bathroom, it stunk, I don't know whether the septic tanks are the issue but something needs rectifying. There was no bleach, washing up liquid, foil, laundry detergent or firestarters/matches for the candles. Little items that would have simplified our stay and would definitely increase satisfaction for future guests. There were also a rather unfortunate pair of woman's underwear found under the curtains on our first night stay, not really an issue we quickly disposed of them and it gave us something to laugh about. Overall though a satisfying stay, it doesn't take much to please us, I would recommend to someone if those issues stated were rectified.

Lovely self contained flat within beautiful grounds. Really homely. Loved our short stay. Unfortunately the bed took more than a little getting use to - if one moved the other knew about it. The tv was a smart tv which allowed for a wide range of tv but unfortunately the internet repeatedly lagged making viewing frustrating but other than that it was a prefect flat in perfect location. Comfortable and private. Highly recommend.

The picture is very deceiving as you actually don't see the front of the house unless you ask if you can photograph it, you actually use the servant's entrance around the side off a courtyard (still nice).. That said the flat is lovely and clean and up three flights of stairs , no lift so if you are not good on your feet don't book this. I found the bed horrible and uncomfortable but what I don't like someone else will like. The internet is terrible keeps dropping out , really annoying while trying to relax and watch a film in the evening, for this day and age it shouldn't be as poor as it was. I sound like a proper miserable sod but they were my gripes and I would return there again. The flat is set in an estate with other rented flats we actually didn't see anyone and it is so quiet and peaceful you can't help but relax. Some lovely walks around the estate and a great base to go and visit the many attractions.

Lovely cosy apartment in beautiful surroundings.. We had a peaceful relaxing week at Cooks flat and enjoyed walks and picnics around Cefn Park estate. The apartment itself is very tastefully furnished with lovely period features, it still has the servent bell handles next to the fire places. The restored Victorian kitchen downstairs is well worth a look, a real piece of history. Chester is close by as well as a few national trust properties and a perfect location for exploring further in to Snowdonia.

Very convenient for lots of tourist venues.. Apartment was very comfortable apart from the settee which had seen better days. The hosts had kindly left milk, biscuits and wine etc. which was appreciated and the flat was well equipped. Parking for car. Access was through the rear of the building not via the front as implied in the photo.

Conveniently located for touring the Llangollen area.. Walks around the estate was a daily pleasure. There was a feeling of being in the country as the Highland Cattle welcome visitors with their presence. Cook's flat has all the convenience of home and just the right size for a couple.

Hosts incredibly helpful.. Estate is wonderful to explore. Location makes you feel like you're in a great private world when in reality the shops and pubs are minutes away. The people involved with the estate proved to also be very welcoming and friendly. Already planing return trips! One of those rare places I want to keep quiet so it doesn't get booked up ;-)

Cooks flat cannot be described as first class.. Although essentials are clean eg bedding, towels, dishes - could do with a good spring clean to get dust out of corners, cobwebs off windows. Also no wardrobe for hanging clothes. Small improvements which would not cost much would be a small clothes airer, a stool in the bathroom and a toilet roll holder. I think the games room was last in use during the war! Apart from that enjoyed the peace and quiet and the good weather.

We stayed in the Cook's flat for four nights during half term week. My husband and I were delighted with our visit from start to finish. The flat itself is well decorated and has all the amenities that you could need for a short break. I loved the open fire which we used every night even though the weather didn't really call for it! There are some lovely national trust properties nearby. We also managed a trip to Snowdonia (and climbed Snowdon). It was about an hour and a half drive but was well worth the trip. Cheshire Oaks shopping is nearby, as is the great city of Chester. A great place to base yourself. Highly recommended. We'll definitely be back!

We stayed here over a May bank holiday weekend and really enjoyed ourselves. The flat is located in a wing of this country home on the Cefn Park estate near to Wrexham. The facilities in the flat are great and, whilst we didn't use the log fire (it was reasonably warm for a UK bank holiday!) we could imagine that it would be really cosy for a winter break. The grounds are fantastic and well kept with some really nice walks around the site and plenty to look at. There were some horses, chickens and baby lambs in the fields and plenty of places to throw down a picnic basket and cool box with a few cold beers. We also made use of the games room with its full size snooker table (although this could do with some TLC as the baize has some tears in it). The room also contains a couple of hundred old vinyl records and vintage country homes magazines which sent us both on a nostalgia trip! Whilst there's very little of interest in the immediate vicinity (unless you want to go shopping in Wrexham) there's plenty of places to visit within reasonable driving distance. We went to the impressive Chirk Castle which is magnificent and, a little further afield Portmeirion on the North Wales coast which was simply fantastic- well worth the drive! There's also the Snowdonia national park and Chester within an easy commute. Definitely recommend....

We loved being able to enjoy the estate property from the well marked footpaths.. The owner stopped by to chat and check in with us. Everything in the flat was just spotless, and we slept in great comfort each night. The location couldn't be better for the long list of sites to visit! We highly recommend Cook's Flat!

If you are a couple looking for a romantic retreat with peaceful, comfortable, very clean accommodation and you enjoy an open fire after hours of countryside walks and picnics on the 1000 acre estate, then this is the ideal place to come. Tucked away in the annex to a large private property which is located in large grounds that are a credit to the owners This flat is in an ideal location to visit Chester and North Wales. Fixtures and fittings are all great quality and there are a number of finishing touches that make this one special. Ideal for any couple who want to get away from it all for a few days or would even recommend to anyone 'on business' in the area. A real home from home.
