September 2020
We arrived to find everything as we had hoped.. The owner was so welcoming and generous, encouraging us to use all the facilities, recommending local dog walks and advising us of the attractions of the towns and surrounding areas. It was lovely to be able to bring our dogs and we all enjoyed exploring the stunning and varied scenery of this area. We also felt very safe with the adherence to all Covid-19 requirements.

We arrived at this beautiful gem of a place to be greeted with, fresh eggs and home baked bread, tucked away at the quiet side of the village within the stunning welsh countryside but near to the main roads it was a perfect spot for exploring this part of wales. the cottage was welcoming for both us and our 2 dogs , who had a lovely secure courtyard to let them out safely. We had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. after busy long days it was a delight to return home and enjoy the cottage , the owner was very kind and helpful she washed some muddy clothes for us after a nice but muddy walk , highly recommend this cottage

For some reason, this place has 2 seperate listings on her (the other being Rectory cottage@the old rectory) where I have posted a longer review, but we loved it here, and would recommend it for a nice chilled break in the countryside.

When I arrived at the cottage the owners had put out fresh eggs and made fresh bread that was still warm.. They left little luxury things like Bubble bath and shower gel along with items in the kitchen. The owners were extremely useful when we asked where to go for food or warning us about livestock in a close field on a walk. Very pleasant holiday. Didn't want to Leave

The owner lives next door, and when we turned up with 11 friends, who were walking the Usk Valley with us, intending to squeeze into the cottage for tea and cake, she insisted that we use her garden and kitchen to accommodate everyone.. A very welcoming owner, who left home made bread and eggs from her chickens as a welcome gift.

Excellent location for visiting nearby attractions.. Very quiet and peaceful. Welcoming and helpful owner. Nicely decorated with lovely pictures. Grandson enjoyed feeding chickens and searching for eggs as well as having use of trampoline. Plenty of space for running around.

Central position for our day tours around Wales.. A lovely cottage in a historical rural setting with the town of Abergavenny a short drive away. Our host was most welcoming and the farm fresh eggs and bread a treat.

We enjoyed a restful break at The Bryn - lovely, well designed and equipped cottage with access to a big garden.. Our 7 year old loved the trampoline and free roaming chickens. It's location makes it a good base for country walks along the river and easy access to nearby castles, villages and the Brecon Beacons. The only thing which would have improved our stay was a pub within walking distance. Unfortunately, the nearest pub has been shut down. We had a great holiday - thank you.

Very warm welcome by Kate and Liz.. Extremely helpful with any small query. Lovely riverside place from which to explore a large area of Wales/English borders. Cosy and quick to heat when coming in from a chilly walk. Abergavenney close by and useful for all provisions. Crown pub good refuge when we had a flat tyre. Clytha Arms good stop on a walk. Hay-on-Wye lovely drive. Excellent views from above Talgarth, ditto Sugar Loaf. Vineyard good to visit too.

I've just come back from a two night stay with my adult son and my toddler son and this cottage was wonderful for all of us. We received a very kind and friendly welcome and had freshly baked bread and eggs from the resident chickens waiting for us. The cottage is very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Beautiful local area and big son enjoyed Bike Parks Wales (about 35 mins away in the car) while little son enjoyed seeing the local countryside. Many thanks to the hosts for a very relaxing and enjoyable break!
