Area
Carmarthen is a busy and thriving Norman market town, situated close to the Brecon Beacons National Park. The town is renowned for its busy market where you will find stalls selling produce from Swansea to Cardigan Bay, cheeses from Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire, local organic foods, farmhouse salt-bacon, sausages, delicious cockles from the beaches of South Wales and the renowned laver bread. Carmarthen is Wales' oldest town with a history extending back over 2,000 years. Romans inhabited the area and there is evidence of a Celtic church dedicated to St. Teulyddog. The Roman town's layout is preserved in the modern street pattern to the east of St Peter's Church, whereas the evidence of the Norman occupation, the Castle, is situated on a rocky knoll overlooking the River Tywi. Today, the town has a great selection of pubs, restaurants and shops and there are many attractions in the vicinity, such as Dylan Thomas's Boathouse and the National Botanical gardens of Wales.

Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. From Snowdonia in North Wales to the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast in the South.

Absolutely wonderful. Would highly recommend. In the middle of nowhere yet the centre of everything! Quiet location with all you need for a comfy, cozy, relaxing stay but also so close to so many things. Countryside, beautiful beaches, Dolphin and wildlife watching, Neolithic burial tombs, monastic island, national wool museum......you name it, they've got it within a short journey. Really lovely owners, welcoming and friendly but not at all intrusive. welcome gifts were so thoughtful. And the friendly chickens were adorable and surprisingly quiet. Honestly could not have asked for more and have been raving to all our friends and family about how perfect it was would LOVE to visit again.

The cottage exceeded our expectations, the owners were very friendly and welcoming.. It was located in a peaceful and quiet location yet within driving distance of numerous places to explore, from the beautiful coast line to the rolling hills, castles and quaint little quay sides. This cottage is ideal for a quiet break away or as a base to explore from. Not to forget the beautiful cake, freh flowers and gorgeous eggs awaiting us on our arrival. A definite 10 out of 10!!!!

The cottage was cosy, welcoming and restful.. We had a lovely holiday in the peaceful Welsh countryside, Adrian was helpful and welcoming his old world charm vied with the cottages to make our holiday the rest we really needed. By far the nicest place we have stayed - it made a change to have a really comfortable bed, a bath and shower and lovely furnishings in keeping with the cottage not the usual generic Ikea uncomfortable furniture or bright in your face colours. Will most definately be booking again. And the lovely homemade cake, fresh laid eggs and flowers as a welcoming gesture was just wonderful and unexpected.

The cottage is set in a rather out of the way situation but this in itself means its quiet and peaceful and when we were there only heard chickens (in the garden) and lambs, some very small.. It was truly great. The facilities were fantastic - plenty of boiling hot water and also control (if we needed too) of the heating to the cottage. We went during fairly mild spell so not necessary to change any settings at all. The people looking after this cottage were very welcoming and helpful and could not do enough for us. Only one drawback no local pub!!! - but then at the rate pubs are closing all over the country hardly surprising!!

At very short notice through the support Sykes cottage (thankyou so much) we were sourced this wonderful cottage on an very low bugdet.. We were delighted by its standard of cleanliness and it offered a fully accessorised kitchen, good hot shower over bath tub. It was warm and cozy, draft free and easy to manage. Only 30mins from the nearest beaches and supermarkets, with some of the most gorgeous beaches within an hour, we'de hit the jackpot. We were suprised by housewarming gifts of freshly homebaked cake, a lovely bouquet of flowers and had an ongoing supply of freshly laid chicken eggs "wonderful", what else could you ask for. The kids were delighted by the chickens on the lawn and indulged in feeding them breadcrumbs. The friendly proprieters who lived just next door were very accomadating, happy to deal with any questions but not in your face. I would definately recommend if your looking for an the beaten track holiday where you can relax in absolute peace and quiet and seek out adventure on your own terms.

Meet by the owners who were extremely welcoming to show us round.. They were on hand should anything have gone wrong. The home made cake and the eggs on arrival we much appreciated. We were greeted every morning by the chickens. Enjoyed sitting in the garden in a peaceful setting surrounded by the lovely countryside. Would certainly like to visit again.

Cilwen Fach is a lovely cottage in a rural location perfect for exploring this part of Wales. Upon arrival we were greeted by Adrian - the owner and shown to the immaculate cottage where a freshly baked cake and eggs from "the girls" awaited us. Everything we needed was provided and made our stay a comfortable experience. Although separate from the main house, we were made to feel welcome to use the free wifi there and when requested, extra bedding was delivered to our door (in the pouring rain) so we could use the sofa bed. It was lovely to wake up to the cows and sheep grazing in the field and the birds singing their morning chorus, and after breakfast a visit from the girls seeing what scraps we had for them. Thank you Adrian and Jeff for your lovely cottage and for making our stay an enjoyable one. We look forward to returning again in the future.
