Pack your sunglasses. Not just for Joshua Tree’s desert sunshine, but for this neon-bright rainbow of a home. Host and artist Patrick Hasson has used three acres of the Mojave desert as a canvas for his vivid artworks; a grand piano and car splattered in vibrant paint against the rugged landscape. Guitars and canvases adorn the walls inside, all rainbow bright. Painted purple as a desert rose, the house itself is living psychedelic art.
Inside, each bedroom and bathroom has its own luminous colour scheme (so make sure to pick your favourite first). The open kitchen, living room, and dining area in all its psychedelic splendour creates an ideal space for socialising, cooking in the sunshine-yellow kitchen or selecting something from the film library for a quiet night in.
The cowboy pool, fire pit, and even the barbecue terrace out the back follow the same rainbow theme, embracing the funky chaos of 90s rave paint. Find your own artistic calling in the huge artist’s studio in the garden. Perhaps you’ll get your inspiration from the ethereal landscape of Joshua Tree National Park, just down the road. You’re also a five-minute drive from Downtown Joshua Tree with its funky little galleries and buzzing bars.
Home truths: *This home is remote, so we'd strongly recommend a car for ease of exploring the area and there's plenty of parking
*During the winter month between November and March the cowboy pool will be closed
* The person making the booking must be aged 23 or over
*Please respect the neighbourhood quiet hours between 10pm and 8am
*Being this close to the highway is convenient, but you can hear some traffic noise in the garden
