The charming villages of Dunkeld and Birnam are located on either side of the Tay in Highland Perthshire, just off the A9 midway between Perth and Pitlochry.
Historic Dunkeld is one of the best preserved heritage villages in Scotland, whilst Birnam built when the railway to the highlands arrived in 1860 is a postcard pretty Victorian village with stone turrets and spires jutting up against the misty highland hills. The 'commute' between villages is via the tranquil riverside path that runs under the canopy of the famous Birnam Oak, along the banks of the silvery Tay, then over the historic Telford Bridge.
