Situated in Edinburgh's charming New Town, just a hop, skip and a jump away from Princes Street, this Georgian apartment is absolutely breathtaking. If you're anything like us, you'll be swooning over the sky-high ceilings, enormous sash windows and oodles of period features. When married with the bright living spaces and contemporary touches like the BOSE Bluetooth mini sound system, Miele appliances and underfloor heating, this whole place is a showstopper.
Just picture yourself sprawled out on the velvet sofa in front of the crackling fire, a glass of scotch in hand. Come dinnertime, pad over to the chef's-worthy kitchen and rustle up a delicious, hearty spread to share around the large oak table – alongside a bottle of Scotland's finest whiskey, of course. After supper, unwind with an engrossing book from the host's small library, play a game of backgammon around the coffee table or enjoy a soak in the lavish bathtub before snuggling up for a blissful night's sleep in the sumptuous beds.
When you're ready to explore, you couldn't ask for a better place to be. Not only is New Town famous for its Michelin-starred restaurants, cool cafes and excellent shopping – all practically on your doorstep – but you're also within easy reach of medieval Old Town (a seventeen-minute walk), historic Edinburgh Castle (fourteen minutes on foot) and the city-wide views atop Calton Hill (walkable in fifteen). Plus, you'll have access to the residents-only Queen Street Gardens – perfect for picnics in the sunshine.
Home truths: *This home can possibly sleep nine guests, as two of the single beds have trundles ideal for children – at maximum occupancy, the guest count will be seven adults and two children
*If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot, high chair, potty, baby monitor, foldaway pram, kid's-sized wellies, children's dinnerware and a steriliser on request
*Guests will have to climb stairs here – there are half a dozen steps into the apartment, plus a wide staircase leading up to the first floor
*All guests will have access to the private, residents-only Queen Street Gardens
*Although there's free on-street parking in the evenings and on weekends, we suggest exploring the city on foot instead of driving
