Located opposite the Fado Museum, The Fado Custos will immerse you into the cultural heritage of the Portuguese capital, with many more attractions (and fado houses) nearby. Alfama is a bit like a maze, so it might be difficult to navigate the streets at the beginning – but we could think of much worse places to get lost in for an afternoon. The insides of this home heavily contrast the mediaeval exterior with a cosy modern look. The communal area and the bedrooms are well put together and equipped with anything you might need for a great stay.
Home truths: * There is no elevator to this first-floor home – those with limited mobility or heavy suitcases beware
* Six guests can sleep in this home, but the last two will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living room
* Both bedroom windows face a nearby wall, which isn't the nicest view
* We spotted a few stains on the dining chairs
* There's only one bathroom in this home for a maximum occupancy of six
* We couldn't find any coffee-making facilities
