There are great views across Venice from this stylish home's large private terrace. The apartment is housed in the well-known former thermal power plant built by an architect-engineer of the Ministry of Communications in the 1930s. The layout is upside-down, with the bedrooms below the living space, and there’s a staircase without a railing up to the balcony, so it may not suit guests with kids or those with mobility issues. Out and about, it’s just a seven-minute walk to Piazzale Roma, while the Guglie area and Fondamenta Cannaregio, with its many bars and excellent local restaurants, are five minutes on foot
Home truths: *There are stairs to climb here
*Air conditioning is only available in the living area
*Two guests will sleep on a sofa bed in the living room – if you'd prefer ample space for socialising, we'd suggest a maximum guest count of four
*Though there isn't a desk here, the dining table doubles up as a laptop-friendly workspace
*This home is a five-minute walk from the railway station
*The closest water bus stop is called “Ferrovia”, from which Line 1 takes you to Rialto Bridge, San Marco and the Lido
*To get to Marco Polo airport, you can take both the bus and the taxi from Piazzale Roma
*Your host has other homes here, and you may be able to book them together to accommodate larger groups – please ask for more information
