Looking for a one-of-a-kind stay in the Umbrian hills? This restored 15th-century watchtower fringing the town of Pierantonio should fit the bill. Offering sweeping valley views from a lengthy infinity pool, vast gardens and shady terraces, it’s hard to believe all this space is just for you. Ideal for two couples or a multi-generational family stay, the property includes a main villa plus a self-contained annexe. With a home this characterful come a few quirks. The tower bedrooms are semi-open to one another, and the steep staircases won’t suit everyone. You’ll also need a car as there’s nothing within walking distance. But for us, that's all part of the appeal.
Home truths: *This villa is made up of two properties. The three-storey watchtower has two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a living area downstairs. There’s also a self-contained annexe with a double bed and a double sofa bed (if two guests would rather not share a bed).
*This home has steep, open staircases, which may be unsuitable for children and guests with restricted mobility. There are also steps leading down to the private pool area.
*The second bedroom in the watchtower is on a mezzanine level and semi-open to the twin bedroom below, so privacy is limited.
*You won't find an oven here – though there is a hob and microwave in both the main house and annexe. We think the kitchens are better suited to prepping lighter bites than large meals.
*The pool is open from June to September.
*Due to this home's location, we recommend hiring a car to get the most out of your stay, and there is ample space for private parking outside.
