Found in the very heart of Florence – the Piazza del Duomo really is seconds down the road – this studio apartment won't be beaten on location. Housed within a beautifully restored building, the home provides the essentials for a solo traveller or couple seeking a Renaissance getaway. The only bed here is the sofa bed, but if you keep it unfolded for the duration of your stay, there's still a good amount of space to cook using the kitchen stove, or make plans at the dining table. Then again, given the home's proximity to so many cafes and bars, you may be tempted to spend your whole stay socialising with the locals and sampling Florentine delicacies.

*You won't find an oven here – though there is a hob. We think the kitchen is better suited to prepping lighter bites than large meals.
