If you’ve ever fleetingly imagined another life for yourself – drinking espresso in your stylish Italian apartment as the sun streams in through the tall windows, maybe – then welcome to your Como abode. Framed by wooden shutters, the wonderful huge windows define every room, letting light dapple over the beautiful parquet floor. Period and contemporary pieces blend to give this home its tasteful yet welcoming feel – see the wooden dining table with accompanying designer chairs. And with air conditioning and an in-home washing machine, there’s no compromise on functionality. The huge living space is great for hanging out after a day of sightseeing, and we love the super squishy corner sofa. Crucially, the home is right in the heart of the pedestrian part of the city. You're right next to Palazzo Garibaldi, and plenty of restaurants, shops, bars. It's a short walk to the waterfront promenade too – we've taken longer to polish off a gelato.
