With a combination of old-fashioned furniture and modern flourishes, Silk Road manages to retain an understanding of Rome’s history without getting bogged down in recreating the past. It’s not a simple balancing act, and for the most part, Silk Road pulls it off. And, as should go without saying, having the Pantheon about 100m away is not to be sniffed at (as long as you can handle the tourists that accompany it).
Home truths: *Given how close the Pantheon is, there's a lot of movement outside at all hours, as well as the noise you'd expect
*The windows in the second bedroom are high up and hard to open
*A lot of the flat gets quite dark if you rely on natural light
*The bathroom is a lot more simple than the rest of the flat, and the shower's only 190cm high
*As there are a lot of antiques, Alex would prefer not to have children staying
