Deep within the narrow, medieval streets of Rome, this period building hides a surprisingly modern apartment for up to five guests. It's not a huge space but it's been cleverly configured to make the most of what it has – and to make it feel comfortable and high-end at the same time. Decorated in on-trend whites, creams and greys, it's bright and fresh. The kitchenette is stowed away in a cupboard-like space in the living room and while it's perfect for the basics, it's not going to appeal to keen home cooks – but this is Rome, and some of the best restaurants, cafes and bars in the world are right on your doorstep. Our favourite feature of this home is the view onto the charming Piazza dei Satiri outside. And while we're talking location, the famous Campo de’ Fiori market is just around the corner.
Home truths: *The building doesn't have a lift, so you'll have to climb the stairs
*The second bedroom has a pull-down bed and may be used as a small bedroom, an office, or a playroom for children
*Guests four and five would be on a sofa bed in the living room – but we think it may feel a little cramped with that many of you
*If you're travelling with children, a baby cot is available on request
*You may hear noise from neighbours above and below you
*Some guests felt the air-con wasn't very strong in some parts of the home
