Sitting in the heart of Rethymno's old town, this home dates back to the 17th century, but we think it's got a youthful spirit. Nowhere is that more true than out in the rooftop garden, which has a heated swimming pool – albeit a smallish one – plus lots of seating and a barbecue should you feel in the mood for alfresco dining. That being said, there are plenty of restaurants in the surrounding streets if you don't fancy cooking, as well as lots of historic attractions lying within walking distance to keep you busy.
Home truths: *This home is split between the main house, two maisonettes and a small studio – there are no bedrooms on the ground floor *Bedrooms one and two both have king beds with additional twin beds at mezzanine level *There's air conditioning in all of the bedrooms, but none in the kitchen and living room – the thick stone walls keep these spaces cool *A welcome basket, pre-arrival shopping, linen and towel changes, wood for the fireplace, a cot and a high chair are all included in the cost *The swimming pool is only available for use between April and November *This home is in a central spot, so noise is to be expected *Your host asks you to respect the quiet hours of 3pm-5.30pm and 11.30pm onwards
