Very pleasant owner, a treat to have cup cakes and Prosecco when we arrived, ideal for walking and lovely view from house.. Odd not to have any side tables for coffee, drinks etc. Would recommend The Mustard Pot, really good food and friendly staff, safe covid conditions.

I could sum up our visit in 1 word , Perfect ! ,which is the word all of our group used to describe the barn, there were 8 of us from various parts of the country with different backgrounds , we all found a high degree of comfort & cleanliness , very spacious inside, with plenty of outside areas as well. the location was also the perfect place to get away from it all, some of us had the opportunity to meet a few of the locals in the churchyard on Sunday ,extremely open & friendly , so much so I had a wonderful chat with a local lady as we walked around the graveyard , in summary : the only thing we will change for our return next year is , we will go back in the summer :) on behalf of us all thank You mick

This is the second time I ve booked stoneycroft barn and it was just as good and fresh as if I'd never been .. The house is gorgeous and immaculately clean providing everything you need .For our party of 8 it was like our own little home from home . Karen the owner is so friendly and came to chat when we first got there but then you don't hear from her unless you need to speak to her. This is meant as a compliment to karen meaning she is there to greet you and explain where everything is but not to the extent that she's keeping an eye on you all the time , a lovely welcoming lady.(sorry if we made too much noise karen :( ).Ther is also the added bonus of cows and calves who are also very friendly right next to the house really cute . I would definitely recommend this house and will be staying here again . Thanks Karen x

A well appointed and comfortable barn conversion that had everything we needed.. Cushions for the outside seating is the only improvement I can suggest.

March 2020
We stayed for 3 nights at the beginning of March, as a group of 8 friends.. The welcome gift of a bottle of Prosecco and cup cakes was a nice touch and appreciated. The barn is stunning with plenty of space and comfort to entertain. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you would need. There is underfloor heating downstairs and a gas log fire. The fire was not needed as the barn was warm and toasty. There is a main bathroom and an ensuite bathroom, always with hot water. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. There is an easy check in/out procedure in place. We went out for a meal in the pub down the lane, Ye Olde Mustard Pot, the first evening which is a 10 minute walk. They were short staffed and the service was very slow, so hard to rate it on this occasion. We took a taxi into Holmfirth the following day which cost £16.70 one way for a car of 4. Holmfirth is very picturesque with plenty of pubs and places to eat and 'Last of the Summer Wine' filming locations to see. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Stoneycroft Barn and I would fully recommend it. There is nothing I can fault at all.

The barn has been converted to an amazing standard.. All you could ask for was there. The layout works well for a family/friends get together. The bedrooms are all very comfortable and the bedding is of a good quality. Lovely shower facilities. The location is ideal for those who enjoy the countryside.

Our Christmas break at stoneycroft barn was brilliant.. Excellent location, lovely barn, well equipped, clean and tidy and very spacious. The added extras (Christmas cupcakes, chocolates and prosecco) from the owners were a lovely touch. We’d all recommend and would love to go back!
Mrs Crosby, December 2019
November 2019
As a group of 8 friends we booked the cottage for a girls weekend away.. The cottage was lovely and spacious. The owners had left some cupcakes and a bottle of prosecco as a welcome gift which was a really lovely touch. We had a great time and would definitely book here again!

It’s the little things that often make the difference on a holiday.. As well as the barn being gorgeous, clean, confortable and modern, there was nothing that you looked for or felt you could need that wasn’t already there. This even included some cupcakes and a bottle of Prosecco to welcome us on arrival. I would recommend this place again and again.

We absolutely loved our stay at this cottage.. The home is absolutely gorgeous, we didn't want to leave! The house was immaculate, the beds were extremely comfy and the house was equipped with everything you could need. The house is located in a pretty little village and there are many resevoirs closeby to walk around. Theres a large tesco superstore 10 minutes away and lots of nice pubs closeby too. The owners were extremely helpful and made checking in very easy. They also came over to help us to get the fire working. They had also left some Bakewell tarts for us upon arrival which was a lovely touch. Really impressed with this property and hope to return again soon!

This was a family get together.. Daughter, son-in-law, only grandchild all from Australia, son and wife from Leeds and us from Buckinghamshire. The property was fabulous. The photos had not done it justice, much roomier than we expected. Karen, the owner had decorated it for Christmas, a nice welcoming card, mince pies and a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge, how thoughtful was that. The underfloor heating on the ground floor made it very comfortable. We paid so we took the en-suite which was very spacious and comfy. All the other bedrooms were excellent. After we had booked it we learned that the Mustard Pot Inn was closed permanently which was a major disappointment but in the end we did not miss it. The parking was more generous than described 4 small to medium cars would fit. We had two extra people for Christmas lunch and it was voted the best Christmas ever by one of them. The whole experience was unanimously voted a huge success.

We met friends with our young families and stayed for three nights.. The pictures don't do the cottage or the location justice - the cottage was clean, spacious, well equipped and provided great open plan living for us to all be able to socialise and keep an eye on three young children. The beds were extremely comfortable and it was helpful to have a cot provided. The location also provided a great base for exploring the local area and peak district and there were some great local walks, particularly down to the reservoir that we could do with pushchairs. The only shame was that the pub had closed...
Mrs Ablitt

The pictures don't give this cottage justice.. It is a beautiful barn conversion in stunning countryside. The beds were so comfortable and the fluffy towels and soft carpets upstairs made it feel very luxurious. Downstairs the layout worked perfectly, with a very well equipped kitchen. In the lounge was a great Smart TV with all the apps and channels you could ever need. Free WIFI too. Very friendly owner, who we only spoke to but gave our group advice on where to go shopping in Stocksbridge. Great venue for walkers and the pub down the lane, albeit closed due to a fire at present, looks like a great place to eat. Highly recommend this venue and we hope to visit again.
Mrs Rogers

We had a wonderful weekend at Stoneycroft barn.. The local area is beautiful, the barn has everything that you need, and the beds were all incredibly comfortable. The open plan living area downstairs is great for a large group. Would definitely recommend.

March 2018
Spacious, well equipped barn conversion in the north Peak District, ideal for a family get together: bedrooms a good size, 2 bathrooms and downstairs cloakroom, plenty of space downstairs for lounging, family meals and cooking together.. Nobody felt on top of each other. Good views, too, of the rolling moors. We parked 3 cars on the drive. The patio looked inviting for summer visitors. Enjoyed a couple of walks from the doorstep. Short drive to Holmfirth for a downloaded treasure trail, followed by a walk In Last of the Summer Wine countryside. Kelham Island industrial museum in Sheffield worth a visit, too. Pub meals we enjoyed: Waggon and Horses in Langsett and the Plough, short drive across the moors in Lower Barnfield. The local Ye Old Mustard Pot has changed management and failing to update last minute advertised menus on their website.

November 2017
The Barn is very near the Pub and nearer than i believed to Penistone where we used to live 30 years ago. We loved everything about this converted barn . I believe it was finished 9 years ago but it looks brand new. The layout is great and the underfloor heating made a cosy on a windy Autumn weekend. There were 6 adults and 2 children we all slept really well, the beds were super. The Kitchen was very well equipped and Karen one of the owners made it very easy for us to get in ,The provision of eggs and milk to go with tea and coffee was lovely, not always the same in every holiday rental. On Sat. lunch my brother and his wife joined us and we easily accomodated them for lunch . We appreciated having a downstairs loo to go with 2 bathrooms upstairs and night lights on the stairs were a bonus. Karen had provided 4 Pumpkin lanterns as this was Halloween weekend and met with much delight from the children. A good supply of games were available too. We managed to get 1 large car ,1 medium saloon and 1 tiny car into the parking space and used the bike racks . On the day my brother visited we even managed to get his large car onto the drive This would be a great place to stay for longer ,the children loved the garden area and looking at the cows in the next field, we enjoyed a walk along the old railway track and a visit to Penistone, Cubley Hall, and Kirklees light Railway as well as to Sheffield to visit my step mum, sadly we only had 3 nights and thought the price was very reasonable . Peak District is on your doorstep but not their prices.

We stayed as an extended family group of six adults. Everyone was delighted with the accommodation. The barn has been finished beautifully and felt like a home rather than a holiday property. Everything we could think of was provided.

June 2016
A gorgeous and spacious barn conversion in beautiful surroundings with so many walks literally on the doorstep. Fantastic lay out of the ground floor - perfect for a large group. We were left to our own devices which was great yet the owner was easily contactable had we needed her for anything. A fabulous week was had by all.

Fantastic barn, can not recommend enough, lovely settings. Had a three day break with my family and had the best time, barn is lovely warm all rooms beautifully done, not one complaint - 10 out of 10.

November 2015
Absolutely perfect! We all loved every minute of staying at Stoneycroft Barn, we even cooked a three course meal and there was more than enough kitchen equipment. Some really nice extra features of the property, for example, the lights on the landing. You can tell the owners have put a lot of thought in to the build and expense has not been spared.
Mrs Fitzpatrick

Stoneycroft Barn was a beautiful, well looked after cottage in a fantastic location. It is obvious that a lot of love has been put into this cottage. We enjoyed our stay here.

The Barn was beautiful. Really spacious, clean and warm. We didn't mind that it was a rainy weekend as we were happy not to leave the house! There was a really nice pub down the road and it was a great area for walks.

I stayed at Stoneycroft Barn for the Bank Holiday weekend with a group of friends, we sought a relaxing trip away in a comfortable setting with beautiful surroundings and that is exactly what we got! Midhopestones itself is a lovely place to visit with many close pretty walks, there is a local pub less than 5 minutes walk away which has a wonderful atmosphere and there are many lovely places within a short driving distance with lots of different amenities however the barn itself is the thing that would draw me back to the area. The photos do not do it justice as you can only take in the full comfort of the accommodation if you actually visit the place. The barn itself is very warm, has an open plan downstairs area ideal for a group holiday and the bedrooms are all luxurious and cosy. It was a perfect weekend away for us to relax and spend time together, i couldn't recommend it enough.
Mrs Quinn
March 2015
The property was really well equipped and very well looked after. It was like a home from home. Also, it is situated in a beautiful part of the country. We would certainly return to it and would happily recommend it to our friends.

January 2015
The location was beautiful with stunning views. The Barn was spacious, spotlessly clean and furnished to a high standard. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed for our family Christmas. The nearby walks at Langsett reservoir were particularly enjoyable. We had a lovely holiday and would love to return in the not too distant future.

Fabulous cottage in a lovely location and very comfortable for 8 people. Furnished to a high standard with all mod cons, you really couldn't go wrong with this one. Stroll to local pub was also a bonus. Would certainly return....

August 2014
This is a beautifully restored and immaculately presented former barn which provides plentiful accommodation for up to 8 people. The décor is minimalist but comfortable. The kitchen is large and well equipped and scrupulously clean, with plenty of cupboard space. The house is an ideal basis for visiting the countryside and towns in the area and there is plenty to do in the immediate area without having to drive too far, although we made it as far as York. What made this house special for us was its cleanliness and modern looks coupled with a high degree of comfort and peacefulness.
Mr Wildsmith
June 2014
Everything was of an extremely high quality.
Miss Wooldridge
June 2014
The situation of the Barn and its amenities were both superb and we were all accommodated without tripping over another; a considerable feat when seven adults are involved. We could all eat together and play games together or alternatively sidle off to bed but we were never in one another's way.

March 2014
We booked this cottage thinking it looked pretty good, but we've arrived and it's really really nice! Bedding is pure white stripe, not the beige ones on the photos. Kitchen lovely. Great stair gate (retractable so if you don't need it it's not in the way), and brilliant lights set into the skirting that are motion sensitive so anyone going yuk the loo in the night doesn't need to turn the light on. Really lovely! Would book again!!

Lovely warm cottage, very clean, beautiful views. The pub down the road served nice food, good location.

December 2013
This accommodation is very comfortable with a high standard of furnishing and amenities. The owners welcomed us but then did not disturb us, which we appreciated. They live in the adjacent property, and told us to contact them if there were any problems (which there weren't.) The pub at the end of the road does reasonably good food though their supply of wine was rather intermittent! The nearby historic chapel is well worth a look. There is a pleasant walk over country roads to the reservoir and another village, with a good pub. We also enjoyed a visit to Holmfirth. You do need a car for this property. We hit a chilly week so appreciated the underfloor heating. All in all, we had a very pleasant stay and would recommend it.

Super owners. Lovely property and kitchen high standard. Convenient location for adults and kids. Wifi ideal for keeping in contact and loved the views.
Mrs Sanders
September 2013
The converted barn was very spacious and tastefully decorated, with everything that we needed. The owner lives adjacent, and told us to come and see her if there was any problem, but otherwise left us in peace, which we appreciated. There was a pub a few minutes walk away which did food all day (except Monday), which we used several times. There were many opportunities for walking, and also some interesting local history, including a 14th century chapel just down the road. We also enjoyed a day in Holmfirth, about 10 miles away, and a trip on the music train, from Penistone station.
Mrs Swann

We could not fault this property. It was beautiful, spotlessly clean and very well equipped. It had everything that we wanted and needed for our weekend, and we had a fantastic time.

July 2013
We loved the cottage that was beautifully laid out and very comfortable and spacious. The location was fine for our weekend of walking and it was handy to have Ye Olde Mustard Pot just 5 minutes walk away, for an enjoyable meal on the Saturday. The cottage owners were helpful and friendly.

I was attending a family wedding nearby and booked Stoneycroft Barn for the family. Karen And Gary welcomed us and the WOW factor with the wonderful views and the fantastic house took the breath away. It was perfect for all ages with plenty room inside and out to relax and enjoy the house and garden. The owners organised taxis to the wedding for us and gave us tips for exploring the area. Couldn't have been better, thanks guys, I will definitely tell friends and already have.
