We stayed here with a family of 11.. it met our expectations. We hired the hot tub Mon-Fri for £165. I did ask if we could hire a inflatable so we could stay based at the house with the children and the elderly but they preferred us not as could ruin the grass but it football grass not perfect garden grass so it definitely wouldn’t have. We then struggled to find things to do with the non mobile so ended up travelling a few hours for attractions.. for walkers though this is paradise.. there are several river walks very close (5 and 10 mins away) the further one has a spectacular waterfall. We got a Asda delivery and ate out locally at the Nelson. The house is very well equipped and the games room is a added bonus.. a Trampoline in the garden and a swing set would be perfect. We took a hover kart and little bikes for the large patio area and nerf guns for a nerf war on the grass.. They are extremely generous in providing all condiments and toilet rolls (we did take own but perfect for those who may only need them infrequent rather than buying) I’ve already recommended this place to others as really is a fantastic holiday house.

We recently spent a wonderful family weekend here at Heartcliffe View Penistone. Extremely easy to rate this 5*s as the house was immaculately clean and very well stocked. We had three children under seven and two teenagers with us..... it was very easy to keep them all happy/occupied! They spent the whole weekend playing outdoor games in the huge garden and enjoying table tennis/pool in the games room...not a phone or electronic game seen all weekend!! The twin bedroom downstairs was perfect for my elderly grandparents! this house truly is perfect for a little family break/holiday !!! We also had the amazing chef Tom attend to cook all our meals, the food and service was restaurant quality with an amazing personalised service!! I would highly recommend this little luxury!! Finally the husband and wife owners were extremely professional, helpful and friendly. Overall 10/10 for service, cleanliness and venue, would 100% recommend!!!

Amazing place will be going back, very well stocked with everything you need, we also had the chef come and make a lovely meal and hired the hot tub which was all set up when we arrived but not warm enough till the next day to use, we took our dog and great walk across the field he loved it, we didn't want to go home, games room was great for the kids and adults we were in it every night till late after the hot tub of course.

We went to Hartcliffe View with a group of 10 children from Taiwan on a trip to the local area. The house was perfect for children- they loved the games room and the PlayStation, the rooms were great and the garden, with a nice-sized football pitch with goal posts was a favourite. The landlord was extremely kind, attentive and left us some nice ‘little touches’ for our arrival. All in all it was a terrific experience and contributed hugely to our young students experience of the UK. Thanks to Edwin and we hope to come back again!

I could go over the many lovely things all the previous guests of Hartcliffe view have written but this would become a very long review! So I shall simply say that this house is absolutely stunning and it totally surpassed our expectations. It has been a most wonderful stay with my family and the house was perfect in every way. There is not one thing we would change, the owners were so friendly and helpful and have clearly invested a lot of time in the property as they do their guests. We are already planning a return trip Thank you for having us at Hartcliffe!

Harcliffe House is a wonderful place for a holiday in South Yorkshire. 15 of my family members had a wonderful week and the house is fantastic. The owners were only too helpful with any of our needs. The house was spotlessly clean and had every amenity that you could wish for. I would highly recommend this property to all. Thank you again for a wonderful venue.

Just spent a week in this amazing house for a big '?0' birthday with 10 family members....and 3 dogs! All I can say is turn up and enjoy you'll want for nothing.... other than a return visit pretty soon.

We spent a week at Hartcliffe View for our 25th wedding anniversary. The size and layout of the property make it ideal for spending time with family and friends of all ages. It is extremely well appointed with 7 lovely bedrooms and a kitchen made for entertaining in. The owners were very helpful, answering all our questions quickly and even calling to make sure we had had a good time when we got home. Everyone was really impressed and keen to go back again, possible in the summer when the BBQ and outdoor space would be fantastic as well. The only problem is that it's a very popular property and so booking early is a must.

I have just had a girly weekend at this house for my 40th birthday. The house is every bit as good as the pictures, it is amazing and is set in spectacular surroundings and is so quiet and peaceful. The owner was really helpful and couldn’t do enough to make this visit special. He advised that there was a Tesco delivery service which people use when they visit. We made use of chef availability who came to the house on Saturday night and prepared a three course meal for 16. He came with a waiter and the whole experience was amazing and I would highly recommend this to anyone! They even took away the dishes and there was no cleaning up for us which was even better. This whole weekend was flawless and we felt that welcome we wish we had booked for longer!! Best weekend break I have ever had

What can I say this property is outstanding all my family loved it, the children wanted to stay forever and asked if we had bought it. The owners were lovely. On arrival we found chocolates and wine had been left for us, the owner called us to check we were happy with everything and again before we left to ask if everything had been ok for us, they were very attentive without intruding on us. The property has a very high standard of decor throughout everything you could possible think of was supplied for our stay. The surrounding views from the windows were fantastic, the perfect place to stay with your family. We asked if it was possible to have fireworks in the garden and was told definitely no problem at all and to treat the house as our own whilst we were there. Hartcliff is definitely a place we would recommend. Thank you for a lovely holiday

We stayed here with a group of friends to celebrate a couple of 30th birthdays and the house was perfect. The bedrooms were all lovely, the kitchen was fully stocked and plenty big enough to cook a roast dinner for 11! We had great fun in the games room and the elegant dining room was a lovely location for group meals. The owners called to check everything as alright a couple of times, and did not charge us for breaking a glass and a plate. Furthermore, when we realised we had left a couple of items at the house they very kindly posted them back to us, free of charge. We would definitely recommend this house to anyone.

We have just returned from a great week away at Hartcliffe View where all Ten of us including Four Children had a great break and all of us throughly enjoyed the games room. All the rooms were spacious and it was clean and tidy throughout. I would thoroughly recommend to anyone. And the dog even enjoyed a game of football. There were some nice walks on the the doorstep. Thanks for a great break

We have just returned from a wonderful week's holiday in Hartcliffe View. The house was very clean, spacious and well equipped. Nothing had been skimped on and there were many thoughtful touches. The games room especially was a great hit with all the family.

14 of us (age 4-80) and 4 dogs self-catered in this house for Christmas 2016 - there was a large, pretty Christmas tree which was a lovely touch. For such a dog friendly house it was in excellent condition and was very clean/did not smell. There were four rooms with comfortable seats in which to sit and chat (kitchen, dining, living, play), so the different age groups all had somewhere to go. The kitchen has four ovens and plenty of equipment, so preparing Christmas dinner was easy. There was plenty of fridge/cupboard space, so storing things was also easy. There are bar stools and an island, so several people can help prepare food at the same time, in a very sociable way. The dining table is huge. Sainsburys delivered our shopping, but there is an excellent Tesco in Penistone. The beds are almost all king/double, so we had decided which youngsters would need to share beds before we went. The play room is excellent, as is the large garden. The owner cares and when the tin-opener broke on Christmas Eve, a replacement was with us within ten minutes - excellent.

We have recently returned home from what I can only describe as a brilliant return visit to Hartcliffe View. For the last 8yrs a group of us have got together for a long weekend and we can honestly say that this is by far our favourite place we have stayed!! So much, we decided to return again this year. There is not a thing the owners haven't thought about. It's truly a beautiful house and a perfect setting for a large group as there's so much space and nobody felt on top of anyone. There's everything you could possibly need and more (See my previous review from our visit in 2015)! The pub is also only a few minutes walk away and the food is great if you didn't fancy cooking! We are already looking at booking next years weekend here again. I just can't recommend it enough!

There was a group of 16 of us that stayed here. Every single one of us was amazed by how beautiful the house was. It had everything you could need and more. Luckily for us the weather was nice so we could sit outside and have a BBQ. The games room was probably the most used room i the house, we had some great nights up there. I would definitely recommend to anyone whose looking for a week away.

The property was well positioned for visiting attractions, and the views were wonderful. The property was well appointed with facilities, and neat touches such as sensors in the bathrooms for switching on lights and extractor fans. The games room was a hit with all the family.

The house was more than amazing, words cannot describe how fantastic the house really is. Everything was more than perfect and beyond our dreams. I was celebrating my 60th and what a perfect house this was to enjoy that special time. We had four dogs who loved it also. Every room was perfect and beyond our wildest expectations. The owners go above and beyond to make your holiday perfect. We will certainly be visiting next year as we all could not wish for more. Just perfection in every way possible.

Can't fault Hartcliffe View at all! Our jaws dropped when we drove onto the drive and even more when we went inside, it was like living in a celebrity mansion for a week! The kitchen was great and contained everything we could possibly need, the bedrooms were all gorgeous and the bathrooms to die for, especially the huge jacuzzi bath! Amazing views from the top floor windows, and the games room was the star attraction, the whole family loved it. We could have quiet happily stayed in all week and not left the house! Special mention to how dog friendly the property is - as a dog owner this is key for me, and there were toys and treats for dogs and even a letter to the dog containing all the key information you would need. The garden was perfect for dogs, completely safe and enclosed and so big it was like a trip to the park right outside the back door. The information folder provided covered everything you would need to know about the house and local area, even maps of local walks (again great for dog owners). The owners were really friendly and considerate, sending emails and ringing up to check everything was OK, a real personal touch. Overall we couldn't have found anywhere better for a large family get together, the house is absolute luxury. We have never visited the same holiday rental twice as we like to experience somewhere new, however Hartcliffe View will be the exception as I am certain we could not find anywhere that even comes close, so we will certainly be back!

We spent our Christmas here with family and friends and could not have been happier with the place. Very very clean and set up ready to cater for our every need. Plenty of little extras such as cleaning products, herbs, spices, oils etc which helped to make our stay easier. The beds were lovely and comfortable and the super king was so big you could get lost in it. A nice welcome gift of chocolates and wine left for us in the kitchen. The underfloor heating was toasty warm. We had requested a christmas tree and the owners very kindly supplied one all trimmed up ready for our arrival. The games room was thoroughly enjoyed as we're the beautiful views in the surrounding area. We had great communication with the owner who was happy to answer our questions and also checked in twice with us by phone to ensure we were ok. My only complaint is that now I have returned home I am sad as I only have 1 oven!! Definately recommend this house to families with young and old members

November 2015
We have just returned from a 3 night break at Hartcliffe View. What a fantastic property. The owners have been very thoughtful when considering their guests. The kitchen was exceptionally well equipped with 4 ovens, microwave, large American fridge/freezer with an ice machine, perfect for that holiday drink!! Numerous kitchen utensils, baking trays, pans etc, even herbs and spices. They also provided tea towels, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, loo roll etc. The bath towels and bed linen were of a great quality. A lovely large dining room and living room with plenty of seating for the guests. Hundreds of books to choose from, board games and media games. A fantastic games room on the top floor with further seating. All the beds were really comfy too unlike the other places we have stayed in. All in all the best holiday cottage we have stayed in in the last 6 years of our get togethers!! Plenty of contact from the owners to confirm we were happy with their home. The property is situated in a great location with a pub just a few minutes walk away where we had a lovely Sunday dinner. Excellent value for money. There are lots of nice places to eat in the area and a great choice of take always for those really wanting to have a complete break from cooking. There are so many things to visit in the area from tourist sites, activities, short drive to Meadowhall shopping centre and Sheffield Arena. This really is a great base to explore the surrounding areas. It would be a superb place to stay in the summer as the garden is enormous and has football goals for those that enjoy a game of footie. There is also a bbq and plenty of outdoor seating. The only thing missing here is a hot tub which would really compliment the standard of property here. We are definitely returning here next year for our annual get together

A lovely large family home. No complaints at all from any of the 14 guests staying there celebrating my husbands 50th birthday. We all really had a great time. Lots of good local walks and places to visit. I would recommend this property to everyone.

The standard of accommodation was out of this world. Loved the jacuzzi bath. The games room was an absolute godsend given the foul week' s weather, and there was never a dull moment. The house was so warm and welcoming, it was a pleasure to stay there.

When we arrived, we were amazed at how big and spacious Hartcliffe view really was. It had everything we needed for a perfect relaxing week, whether you wanted to play table tennis in the games room, have a fun movie night on a big screen, play board games with the family in the board room or wind down in the jacuzzi, Hartcliffe offered everything! It was the perfect mix of countryside peacefulness and modern entertainment and excitement. We would definitely recommend Hartcliffe for anyone who wants to have an amazing stress free time. There are also many great things to do close to the house, ranging from walking around a beautiful reservoir, climbing the hill behind the house and even Ice Skating in sheffield!

The property was great for our party of 15, there was plenty of room for everyone. The location was great and there was plenty of info on where to visit. Would definitely recommend. A beautiful property with excellent facilities, which was clean and luxurious. It was big enough for 14 adults to enjoy without all being in each other's way! We particularly loved the games room.

May 2015
Booked this luxury cottage for a 60th birthday celebration and had a fabulous time including brilliant catering from the staff at Aldea. There are a few things I wouldnt expect from a luxury cottage however, the property sleeps 15 but there is nowhere 15 people can sit together to dine other than outside. There's only 1 house bathroom to serve 4 double bedrooms which can cause delays, the other 3 are ensuite. The central heating kept loosing pressure and had to be topped up on a regular basis. The cleaning company had massively under performed and the ovens filled the kitchen with smoke when first used. Please dont think this house isn't worth considering, it has plenty of plus points, the bed linen and towels are of a very high standard, the games room is fantastic and provided hours of fabulous fun for everybody. The kitchen is very well stocked and had everything we needed. We had a brilliant time but at the price we paid we expected things to be right.

April 2015
We have just returned from a 1 week Easter break at Hartcliffe View and wished that we bad booked for 2 weeks, it was so good. The house had superb facilities and the games room kept all the children amused for hours. The house gave us a great base to take full advantage of the beautiful scenic surroundings and local walks, with the highlight of our week being a day at the National Coal Mine Museum (if you arrange a visit down into the mine, try and make sure that it is with "kebab" as he was so interesting). The property was superb kitted out and was way beyond our expectations. All of the bedrooms were well appointed and the large kitchen had everything we need to cater for 18 people when we were visited by a nephew and family. It also provided a great place for us all to chill. The bathrooms were all really nice, and there were some heated negotiations over who could use the double jacuzzi bath on which evening and even the provided towels and soaps were in the "luxurious" bracket. The landlord made it clear that nothing was too much trouble and when a younger member of our party re-set the (free) wi-fi so that it didn't work, he helped us to sort it out almost immediately! An all-round Excellent experience that was really good value for money and one which we would recommend wholeheartedly to any one.

The property was superbly furnished with everything thought of for adults, kids dogs! In a great location with plenty to do in the surrounding area. A car is required although there are a couple of pubs within walking distance.

I celebrated my 60th Birthday at Hartcliffe View with my family. The house was amazing and lived up to the pictures on the website. There were 13 adults and 2 children at the weekend but there was still plenty of space. We spent many happy hours together in the games room with 'events' happening on all 3 tables. The dogs had a great time in the enormous garden and made full use of the football pitch! Highly recommend this fantastic holiday home.

February 2015
I have just returned from a long weekend at Hartcliffe View to celebrate my birthday, and was blown away by the house itself and the scenic surroundings. The property was superb and far surpassed my expectations. All of the bedrooms are very well done out, with comfortable beds. The large kitchen has everything that you could need and provided a great congregating place for us all. The games room on the top floor was brilliant and was a great sauce of entertainment for us. The landlord made it clear that nothing was too much trouble and their mother in law popped by to check that we were settled in ok, and that we didn’t need anything. I would definitely recommend this property, and would certainly look to re-book again. Excellent experience and good value for money.

February 2015
The house was even better than I was led to believe; the whole property and venue were superb, with the games room providing hours of fun. The large kitchen proved to be an ideal mingling and socialising area, whilst the jacuzzi baths were the perfect way to relax.

Just returned from a 3 night stay Jan 15, regretting we had not booked for longer! We were a party of 15 who booked the house for a 50th birthday celebration. From the minute we arrived at the property we were all blown away. The property is exceptional, it is fully equipped and furnished to a high standard with everything thought of for a comfortable stay, (as you can see from the pictures.) The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is that well equipped we were able to book a chef and a waiter from the Aldea restaurant in Holmfirth to prepare and serve a 3 course meal at the property to make the celebration extra special. The games room was excellent and kept everyone entertained. The garden is large with the patio area equipped to enjoy the stunning views, the ideal place for a summers BBQ. Although we were there in winter! But we did have the bonus of snow which just enhanced the property and the surroundings. It’s a special and welcoming place made so by the approachable and accommodating owners, who are on the end of the phone if needed. I would highly recommend Hartcliffe view.

Just returned from a week at Hartcliffe View house. Fantastic house in a great location. Massive bedrooms made for a comfortable stay for everyone. Good size kitchen, dining room and lounge. Everywhere was very clean. Some very scenic walks and only 40 minutes or so from Derwent reservoir, which is well worth a visit. Getting there over Snake pass provides some fantastic views. Be careful with little ones on the marble floors, particularly the staircase, as they can be very slippery - non-slip socks would be ideal for them as the floor is very unforgiving.

January 2015
The house catered easily for 11 of us, age range 2 to 70. The games room and lounge provided excellent venues to keep people occupied indoors and there are spectacular local walks. The kitchen facilities meant that catering was easy and provided something of a spectator sport. The house also catered well for the 2 dogs we had with us, they especially liked the underfloor heating.

This was a comfortable stylish property in a beautiful location, which was ideal for our family get together. The games room was a bonus during the wet Saturday! The well equipped kitchen made catering for 12 a doddle.

September 2014
Excellent facilities, we had family from 3yrs old to 84yrs old and 3 dogs and it was great for all. A great area for walking, excellent information pack in the house with things to do and places to visit if you don't want to walk. The garden is enclosed so safe for the dogs and kids to play in. There was even a safety gate to put up the stairs to stop the dogs and kids going up. The boys of all ages loved the play room. I would highly recommend this property.

This holiday house was fantastic, sheer and utter luxury, a fabulous house, I felt as if I had won the lottery. The owner rang us from Germany to check we had arrived safely and everything was ok which was very nice, the views from the property are wonderful, everything about our holiday at this house was incredible. The little details which we found, soap and toilet rolls in the bathrooms, two bottles of wine and chocolates to welcome us were wonderful.

We stayed here in May 2014, such an impressive house! We couldn't believe the size of it when we pulled up. The inside was amazing - so much space, very clean, comfortable and well equipped. The games room kept us entertained along with the beautiful views. Out the back there's a lovely field which kept our Boxer dog very happy and the barbeque was fantastic. We had a wonderful time!

July 2014
A beautiful house with plenty room for everyone and a huge garden for the kids and dogs to run around in. We had good weather so were lucky enough to sit outside on numerous occasions and enjoy the beautiful views. There was a small grocery shop nearby which stocked essentials but for a bigger selection there was a large supermarket in Penistone a 5 minute drive away.
Mr Morris
June 2014
We were a large party of 15 on some nights so the office being converted into an additional bedroom made the allocation of rooms much easier. Loved the excellent barbecue so much that I have now ordered one. Liked the fact that the owner phoned to check that everything was OK the day after our arrival. All in all it was a wonderful experience which I hope we will repeat on numerous occasions in the coming years.

This is a stunning house, set in a beautiful part of the country. The house is so well equipped it is like being in your own home. If you want a luxury holiday this is it!

The property was spectacular! The quality of all the furniture and furnishings, down to the bed linen and towels, was brilliant. The photos really impressed me, but the property is much larger and even more spacious than I was even expecting. Very welcoming owner, we enjoyed a fantastic weekend. Would highly recommend - fantastic value for an unforgettable time away in a fantastic property!

This house was amazing, it had everything we needed and more - clean, huge, great location, views and the kitchen area wer fabulous! The games room was a great bonus too. There were 6 couples and all of us were impressed and we'd come back to stay anytime.

This is a beautiful home and real treat for anyone wishing to spend time together as a large family group or friends in true luxury. The pictures on the website are a true reflection of the current décor and furnishings, there was nothing to complain about at this accommodation and we look forward to staying there again.

WOW, what a fabulous house. Beautifully and tastefully appointed blending the traditional and the contemporary with great style. A kitchen to suit the very best chef, a lounge to seat 14 with comfort and every possible toy for both adults and children. The children (14 to 25!) loved the games room and the adults (49 to 80!) loved everything especially the jacuzzi baths. We look forward to our next visit and will treasure the memories of a very special 3 night stay for a very long time.

The house was warm, clean and well equipped. The linen was crisp. The towels were soft. The owner kept in touch and was willing to help whenever called upon. We are very impressed.

We have just stayed a week at Hartcliffe View. There were 5 couples and 2 children in our party, and the house comfortably fitted us all. The kitchen was of a very high specification, and really suited us all. There are lovely walks from the front door. The local shop was very helpful, and all that we met were friendly. I would definitely recommend this holiday house for a large party.

Extremely high standard variety of facilities throughout the property. Grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed the games room and the football pitch.

We stayed at Hartcliffe View in September 2013 and cannot speak highly enough of this tremendous house. We were a party of 8 adults and 5 children all under 6 yrs. Everything has been thought through to make this a home away from home for visitors. The property is furnished to a very high standard and was spotlessly clean. It was so nice to have a large, safe, enclosed garden where the family could enjoy the last of the summer sunshine together. The beds are out of this world and the bathrooms are beautiful. We didn't leave the house at all over the weekend as it was more about being together in one place than going out and there was so much space and fun to be had. On that basis I can't say much about the location other than stunning scenery!!! I would recommend lots of stair gates for little ones!

This house is stunning. plenty of wow factor as soon as you pull up outside the columned entrance. The inside also does not disappoint. each bedroom has its own character and the ensuites are very nice. The kitchen comes with plenty of supplies. no need to bring anything really. there was a large selection of pots, pans, plates and glasses. There were also various cooking oils, sugar and washing up liquid left over. The games room is excellent for both adults and children. The pool table is full size and there is more than enough room for everything. We left a half decent pool cue and plenty of chalk too so enjoy! The location is quite remote but ideal for walking and biking. There is a big barbecue and plenty of outdoor furniture. The local shop has all the small things you may have forgotten and is only 2 minutes walk down the road. The local pub is a classic small village place. We didnt eat there but the food looked nice. I believe they do a popular sunday lunch. The pub also has a pool table and sky sports was on the tv which was great for the footy fans among our party. Overall then its an excellent place to stay for young couples or families. My only slight recommendation to the owner would be to add more channels to the sky package :) some sport or even the entertainment channels (sky one, dave etc) would be nice and im sure families with kids would appreciate some cartoon channels.

Full notes and key pick up easy and hassle free. The actual house is amazing, we were a large group and there was more than enough entertaining space. All the bedrooms are decorated to a very high standard as is the rest of the house. The location is easy to find with a local shop at the end of the road in walking distance as is a very nice pub (with disco karaoke that we very much enjoyed on the Saturday night). Would book again and recommend very highly.
