The World Heritage Site of Ironbridge, the amazing Roman ruins at Wroxeter and Stokesay Castle are all within easy driving distance.

The cottage was beautiful and had everything you needed and the owners Nicky and David were extremely helpful and if there was anything you needed you just had to ask.. Even though there is not an enclosed area for the dog 100 yards up the lane is a bridle path through a wood which is ideal for exercising your furry friend. The location was stunning in the Shropshire Hills perfect fir getting away in these strange times .A beautiful part of Britain will certainly be going back

Beautifully converted cottage well equipped and clean.. A warm and friendly welcome when we arrived. Lots of little extras like milk in the fridge, coffee, fresh eggs and a packet of high quality chocolate biscuits. Lots to see within easy driving distance and beautiful scenery. Definitely recommend a trip to Long Mynd. All together a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing week with some excellent pubs nearby. A big thank you to the owners for sharing their lovely property with us and also makes my our dog so welcome. 100% recommend The Old Workshop. Excellent

Cosy little cottage with a great log fire.. Hosts were accommodating and even provided fresh eggs and milk, would recommend to anyone looking for a homely get away in the country. Our dog loved it and rated it 4/5 woofs.

This property has been renovated to a very high standard, the log burner makes it very cosy for a winter break.. It is well equipped, spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. The location is quite remote with lovely views but be prepared for long, winding, single pass lanes to get to it. The pub in the village, the Bottle and Glass is very welcoming and does great food. I would very much recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a Shropshire break.
Mrs Roberts, December 2019
November 2019
The cottage was excellent and very well furnished.. Very clean. Owners left welcome pack of freshly laid eggs, fudge and milk. Completely hassle free entry and exit. Exactly as described and photographed. Plenty of local information including OS maps were provided in the cottage. One minor irritant was that the TV set was very small and difficult for old eyes. A larger set is the only improvement we would want to see.

What a little gem. Beautiful location, nestled deep in the countryside, fabulous walks, stunning views. This cottage is well laid out, well equipped and we were greeted by a roaring log fire. Thankyou Nicky and Dave for our fabulous stay, your resident ducks kept us entertained, they were beautiful. Hope to see you all again soon

This is our second Sykes holiday cottage booking and we are very happy with the standards of the cottages we have stayed in.. This cottage was wonderful, the hosts friendly, beautiful position everything we had hoped for. Thank you Nicky for our stay in your beautiful holiday let. We will certainly use Sykes again.

February 2019
The location is incredibly remote so it was absolutely perfect for a couples retreat.. The facilities were of excellent quality with a comfy bed and comfy sofa as well as a well equipped kitchen! The log fire was a wonderful treat after a long walk in the hills. There are lots of leaflets and walks provided, which we used to guide our activities. The bottle and glass did good food and was a reasonable walk! The owners were friendly but equally left us to our devices which was perfect! The dark skies were beautiful if you like your star gazing and there were plenty of birds to spot as well. A fantastic break overall and we will definitely be going back again which is not like us!

November 2018
This is an excellent place for rest and relaxation.. The owners should be proud of their little cottage, every comfort thought about, lights left on and the fire lit made for a warm welcome on a cold wet day. Tea, coffee, sugar, milk and eggs was a lovely surprise. We will definitely be going back.
Mr Price

September 2018
What a lovely little cottage in a beautiful setting.. Quite and very peaceful. Everything you needed was there even complementary eggs layed by their own chickens and fresh flowers on arrival. Bed linen and towels provided and very home from home, very nice to have a working log burner for the chilli evenings everything supplied just light it and sit back enjoy. Nice local pub for very generous evening meals in the Bottle and glass and only 5 min drive away. Only downside it shuts at 7pm on Sunday. Lots to see and do in the local area. The owners Dave and Nichola were very friendly and welcoming, we stayed for 3 nights it could easily have stayed longer and would strongly recommend this little gem. Only 1 small thing was the tv is very small after being used to watching a 50” but that is minor when you are away why would you want to watch tv. Loved this little gem of a old converted workshop which was very tastefully done.
Mr Morris
July 2018
Peace and Quiet of Location, easy to miss as road signs in the lane were overgrown by hedge.. Small sign at entrance would be ideal. Not far off major towns so travelling about quite easy.
Mrs Green

A delightful cottage, and everything was very generous.. The weather was awful and the lanes tricky and very muddy, but that's an English spring. Didn't spoil anything.
Mrs Simpson
April 2018
This was the second time we have stayed at this delightful cottage .. It is peaceful and comfortable and near to the beautiful Shropshire hills - with many wonderful walks nearby . It is quite remote- tucked away in country lanes . It ideal if you enjoy nature. The cottage is cosy and ideal for a couple , with or without a dog .

March 2018
Everything we hoped for and more.. The accommodation was very comfortable and felt like a home from home. There wasn't one moment where we wished something was there that wasn't. The location was perfect for a quiet break but was also within easy reach of the places we wanted to visit. The owners couldn't have been more helpful and the instructions that were left in a folder on the table were very clear and helpful. Would highly recommend staying here.
Mrs Porter

All was good.. Anybody with a dog would find it very good to know, that their is a wooded bridleway just 50 yards away.
Mrs Gilder
March 2018
Lovely cottage, just as described.. Was a little cold when we got there (think the cottage hadn’t been stayed in for a while). Soon as we started the fire everything started to warm up. Ended up being the warmest accommodation I’d ever stayed in and we didn’t even use the fire after the second evening. Lovely view from the cottage and very peaceful. Roads were a little daunting at first, but soon got used to the route to the cottage and found it easy to navigate. Owners were on holiday while we were there, but still took time out, to phone and provide some advice and general information which was nice of them.

February 2018
A delightful cottage in a quiet spot. Great for getting away from it all. Well equipt with all you need. The log burner was great on cold January evenings. Comfortable bed. A nice base to visit some of the area's beauty spots. Church Stretton and the Long Mynd are great places to visit, The Bucks Head in Church Stretton is a nice place for a meal and a pint or two of real ale. We had a nice stay and were pleased with all aspects of our accommodation.
Mr Kelly
February 2018
Absolutely loved our short break away here.. The location could not have been better, beautiful countryside and absolute peace and quiet. The cottage itself was spotless and well equipped, and having the log burner already lit for when we arrived was a lovely touch. The milk and eggs left for us were also very welcome. There’s plenty to do in the surrounding area, with nearby Church Stretton and the Long Mynds National trust park. Overall we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or come back to this beautiful little cottage.

The wood burning stove and unlimited logs were very welcome. The cottage is situated in beautiful countryside, with no light pollution or road noise, yet close to everywhere. The cottage is lovely and well thought out with absolutely everything you might need provided.

April 2016
The cottage is furnished to a high standard and was cosy and welcoming. The wood burner was very efficient and kept the cottage warm, even upstairs so the insulation was amazing. It had everything you need for a short stay and the hosts made sure everything was satisfactory. Nearby pubs served delicious food and the local people were friendly everywhere we went. It was a fabulous location for walking and getting away from it all. We can highly recommended.
Miss Cockitt

So I read some reviews prior to booking and yes the cottage is down some single track roads but wasn't really a big deal. The cottage is beautiful. A great combination of old stone character with more modern fixtures and fittings. Very well kept, peaceful and the wood burner was a real treat for a couple of lazy and cooler evenings and the owners kept us well stocked. Nearby we managed to squeeze a few things in in 4 days, namely Shrewsbury town centre, the local pub for a lovely lunch (The Bottle & Glass) around 1.5 miles away (a nice fresh walk), Church Stretton (Long Mynd walk) and the Ragleth Inn (Little Stretton)for another nice lunch. I would highly recommend this cottage.

January 2015
It was a great relaxing break. A home away from home, I arrived late at night to a toasty warm cottage. The owners allowed me to get on with my stay and did not disturb, only to check in to see if more fire wood was needed. An excellent cottage that I will recommend highly to all.
Mr Sargent

October 2014
The cottage was beautiful - a good size for two people. The sitting area was spacious and the bedroom took up the whole of the upstairs floor with a lovely exposed beamed ceiling. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the cottage was well-equipped without being cluttered. The wood burner made it really cosy, and the location for walking is superb. The owners were very helpful and welcoming.

It was a fantastic location and an immaculate property - lovely beams and wood everywhere, very well kitted out, we had everything we needed. The owners were very friendly and helpful and we found the cottage cosy and welcoming. February 2013
The cottage was lovely, in a good rural location. It was well appointed and just right for 2 people. The wood burner was excellent and once we got the hang of the electric heating, the cottage was warm and cosy. The area is great, very attractive with plenty to do. A good set of walking information was provided at the cottage.

This was a last minute booking for us - we did not know the area at all. We were assured that it was a lovely location for walking and just relaxing. Completely accurate! In fact probably better than anticipated. The conversion of this old workshop has been done beautifully - real quality carpentry. The bedroom with huge exposed beams is something to behold! It is a very rural location which is great for the peace and quiet - but the lanes are very narrow and the first approach was a bit daunting but the directions were accurate - we just needed to trust them!! It was a pity that one of the local pubs had closed recently but another had reopened and the young couple running it deserve to do well. If you love the peace and quiet of the country this is for you!
Mr Dumbreck

The cottage was excellently specified and in a very peaceful location. We had a very good break.

September 2012
Perfectly equipped and proportioned holiday let for two people. Tucked away in the middle of the Shropshire countryside it feels remote and isolated, but is only a short drive from a couple of villages with a choice of decent pubs nearby. Well placed for access to the Long Mynd, Stiperstones, and Wenlock Edge, it makes a good base for a walking holiday. If you are looking for some quiet down-time then this is the place to stay, but be prepared to wash your car at the end of the week - the local lanes get very muddy from the farm traffic!
Mrs Robertson

The peace and quiet and the total lack of street lighting around the cottage made it feel that you were in the middle of nowhere although it is not far to the lovely towns of Ludlow and Shrewsbury. We loved the log burner which kept the cottage cosy and warm. We loved looking at the shooting stars in the sky on clear nights. Good walks from the cottage. Loved it.

We absolutely loved staying here. One of the things we loved was how remote the cottage seemed yet it wasn't actually that far away from the towns of Shrewsbury and Ludlow. We also liked looking at the stars on a night which were so clear due to the lack of street lights. The road from the A49 is really winding and very narrow but if you take your time and are patient it is not an issue. The log burner makes the cottage very warm and cosy and the whole cottage is built beautifully especially the woodwork. If going to Ludlow try the Courtyard Restaurant which serves great food and also The Ludlow Food Centre on the A49.We hope to return someday to the beautiful area.

For those people who like remote quiet places then this location fits the bill. A 2 mile slow drive down a relatively quiet, single lane/track with twists & turns, blind corners, agricultural machinery, cows etc but the location is well worth the drive. There is a quieter route across country to Church Stretton which I do recommend. This area is great for those that like walking; too many to chose from. Owners of the Old Workshop were helpful & friendly.

If you really want to unwind away from the city, this is the place to go. Surrounded by pure nature, it is the perfect place to relax. There is a lot to do just a few miles away. On our stay, we actually never left the Shropshire borders. The only thing that was a bit too exciting was the drive to the house. Be aware of oncoming farm traffic on the 2.5 miles single track to the house. But if you are trained in reversing around bends, this is not really a problem, just charming. My driver disagrees ;-) He did not like it.

The cottage was even better than we expected; so clean and cosy. We were left to enjoy a peaceful holiday but when we did request anything our request was dealt with straight away. This was the most wonderful cottage to stay for a holiday in the most beautiful of settings. Unfortunately my husband fell down the stairs during the night on our 3rd night which disrupted our plans somewhat as he sustained severe bruising to his back and shoulder. This has, however, not put us off from staying there again sometime in the future.

Very nice cottage with a beautiful garden. Ideal for sitting out in during the evening after a long walk. Ideally placed for couples wanting a quiet holiday with access to plenty of walks. Cottage bedroom layout was exceptional. Just beware of the very narrow roads in the area, until you reach Church Stretton.

An excellent stay with everything provided without any intrusivness. A beuatifull and tastefull accomodation that is a pleasure to be in. We found the cottage to be very comfortable for two people. The accomodation is well laid out, clean and tidy, and having most of what you may require for your stay. It was nice having a log burning stove in the living room for chilly evenings, the logs being provided. The cottage is located in beautiful country side, but the lanes to access it are very narrow, and must be treated with great caution. Fortunately, traffic is light. There are many interesting places to visit nearby, both within Shropshire and over the border in Wales. If you and your loved one are considering visiting the Old Workshop, our response would be, GO FOR IT!

My husband and I stayed here in June 09. We arrived somewhat bereft having put to sleep our wonderful old goldie, Heidi the day before. What a fabulous place. Fantastic views, fantastic barn conversion, just superb. The couple who owned the property were just lovely, left us fresh eggs from the hens and Nel the farm dog - restored our hearts and helped the healing commence. The surrounding area is just beautiful and we walked to the local pub (quite a hike) with Nel and what a great place. Overall cannot recommend this place highly enough. The overall surrounding area is just so beautiful. We will return, having now rescued another dog a few months later!

I absolutely loved my stay and would highly recommend it. It was so comfortable and homely and the owners were an absolute pleasure to deal with, being very friendly and easy to approach. The location was fantastic, being in the middle of no-where but the places to visit were only a short car ride away, and there were plenty of places to visit. The walking was wonderful. There is nothing that I didn't like, I loved everything about it. I was on my own and felt safe and happy to be, but I also think it would be a very romantic place to stay for a couple.

An excellent stay with everything provided without any intrusivness. A beuatifull and tastefull accomodation that is a pleasure to be in. Rural location, very quiet and a good location for exploring Shropshire. The high standard of the accomodation was a delight and the location was ideal for a very quiet holiday. The location is approached by winding, narrow lanes which are not for the faint-hearted!
