Fantastic cottage all you will ever need

April 2019
The cottage was beautifully re-furnished and had kept all the original character of the building.. Everything was available that we needed. Lovely gardens on all sides and lovely views. We have booked to come back again in September as there are lots of places we didn’t get to visit this time. The only suggestion I have that would improve the comfort is to have a comfy sofa in the lounge to watch tv. Owners were brilliant and there if you needed them.

Our stay at Byre Cottage was not strictly holiday,we were there because our home was suffering from water damage.. We had four weeks in the cottage and it was our. “Port in a storm” but by the end of our stay it was like home. Eddie and Sylvia were wonderful and we would certainly recommend this cottage to anyone seeking a good base to explore the local area. Raymond and Barbara Fry

The cottage was very spacious and comfortable.. It was in a beautiful part of Shropshire, within easy driving access of many surrounding towns and places of interest. The owners could not have been more pleasant and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

Byre cottage is by far one of the best cottages we have stayed in.. The kitchen is very well equiped and the whole place is spotlessly clean and furniture very comfortable. Although you can hear the traffic on the A5 it didn't spoil the holiday. We went for a relaxing week and that is what we got as we spent most of our time in the conservatory watching the large variety of birds in the lovely gardens. Eddie and Sylvia are lovely people and the bottle of wine on arrival is a lovely gesture. You won't be dissapointed if you stay here. Health permitting we will be back.

It was the personal friendliness of the owners and the high standard of their holiday property that helped make this a holiday to remember..

Absolutely brilliant holiday with plenty of places to go and visit.. The cottage itself was spacious and spotlessly clean plus a lovely conservatory and garden to sit and relax in. The owners of the cottage were lovely as nice as you’d like to meet and made us very welcome. Would definitely look to return again.

The cottage was absolutely brilliant, very spacious and supplied everything one could possibly need, even the added bonus of a bottle of wine! The hosts were absolutely charming and made us feel very welcome. We could have stayed much longer as the cottage was set in stunning gardens with many birds attracted to the garden bird feeder. An idyllic home from home which I would recommend to the most fastidious travelled.

They have thought of everything & even provided decent weather ! We would recommend this property fully & hope to return again. M.S .

What a wonderful week in this lovely, well equipped cottage.. The owners are extremely welcoming and friendly. The cottage is perfect for a couple with lovely comfortable beds, a beautiful conservatory where you can sit and watch the wonderful birds that visit the well stocked feeder just outside the window. The gardens are a delight too and very well maintained. Shropshire is a beautiful county and Byre Cottage a perfect place to stay. Highly recommended.

Many holiday homes do not cater for an ageing population.. Seating which is to low. Showers over baths are impossible for many. As of course are slippery baths with no grab handles. However Byre cottage had none of these failings. We had a very enjoyable holiday there and if you want a rest from driving there is a regular bus service close by. The owners were very pleasant and helpful. Oh yes and the weather was sunny and mild. But I expect Sykes cottages booked that for us as well?

We choose to book with Sykes because their cottages are always as described, and booking is easy.. We have stayed in several Sykes cottages over the years, but this one is without a doubt the best we have ever had. It was everything you could wish for in a holiday cottage. It was immaculately clean, comfortable, with a very well equipped kitchen. The wet room was a new concept to us but we liked it very much. There is also a spacious sun room with cane chairs, sofa, and dining table. It overlooked the bird feeders and was a lovely way to start the day. The owners have given a great deal of thought to equipping the cottage - guidebooks, maps, an assortment of books to read, etc. It was unusual not to have a sofa and to have only single beds but the two chairs and the beds were very comfortable. The owners themselves are charming, accessible but not in the least intrusive. We only live 20 minutes away and chose this cottage to stay in whilst our new kitchen was fitted. We explored Nesscliffe Hill Country Park and climbed to Rodney's Pillar, as well as visiting The British Ironworks. The cottage is ideally placed for Shrewsbury, Oswestry, and the welsh borders. Even though we live in the area, we fully intend to return for another peaceful, relaxing holiday.

We stayed here for a week and just had the most relaxing time. It is a stunning cottage and such a great relaxing place to come back to each day. We spent most of our time in the conservatory. It is spotless spacious and comfortable. Has a lovely wetroom. The beds are very comfy so always had a good nights sleep.. The owners are a lovely couple . There if you need them but they respect your privacy. It is about 15-20 mins walk to the pub but its a level walk. The location is great for touring around. would Definately go again and would recommend this property.

We understand that they converted this building for themselves for their retirement. We are sure this must be true , as this accommodation was superb in every way, only down point was the nearby Nesscliffe byepass which was audible at night on occasion. Fully recommended, as easy access to all Shropshire has to offer. We intend to come back again soon. Oncer3.

October 2014
A wonderful cottage in wonderful countryside - what more can one say. The cottage for 2 people has everything that one needs for a relaxed holiday - even a bottle of wine. It is cosy in October and I would believe lovely to sit outside in warmer weather. The sun room is a wonderful addition and great to sit in for breakfast and in the evening for a relaxed rest after a day out. For a cottage so near the busy A5, it is pleasantly quiet. Some wonderful countryside around and about plus some great houses - Chirk, Attingham and Stokesay. Truly a wonderful find
