Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a sizable population of terns, puffins, and eider ducks, is located one mile south of Amble, and boat tours of the island are available. A short drive will take you to attractive Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, charming Warkworth with its castle, and the National Trust's Wallington Hall and Cragside, in addition to a number of excellent beaches and charming coastal villages.
