My wife and myself loved this place. If you dont mind the busy goings on in the morning which we didn't and to be staying in the heart of Whitby, well we just loved it. We have been holidaying in Whitby since 2003 and this beat the lot for the sheer atmosphere. We only wish we could stay in this lovely town permanently. Any offers? !!! Gerry and Donna Henderson

What a lovely cosy flat ! There was everything we needed and more! Excellent location for walking, seeing the sites and indeed people watching. First break since before lock down and being a very busy nurse was just the the haven we needed. Felt safe and comfortable everywhere. Would recommend to anyone fully mobile as the stairs are a little steep.

The little extra touches; hand soap, shower gel, washing up liquid, tea, coffee, pint of milk in the fridge, chocolates and the current weeks tv magazine.. All very thoughtful and make you feel welcome as a holiday guest, not that you are just a commodity.

I had a lovely time at Caedmon's Rest.. it was ideal for one or two people, had lots of thoughtful additions like chocolates, and books and jigsaws. Even a hot water bottle which was not needed as the place was so snug and warm. Plenty of kitchen equipment too.It was ideal for walking the Cleveland Way and getting into the west side of town and the bus /train station , whilst being located in the quaint older part of Whitby with it's shops, cafes and restaurants. I did find it a bit noisy echoing up from the street on Friday and Saturday night, but that was because I like to stay in quietly at night. if you are up to going out those nights, it would not affect you at all.

Caedmon's Rest was very clean and comfortable with many little extras, like a bottle of wine, chocolates, milk and tea, nice little touches! It was nicely decorated with lots of pictures on the walls. The kitchen was very well equipped, with more than enough crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment. The location is idea for getting around Whitby, 10 minutes walk from the railway and bus stations and main shops. If the weather is as nice as when I was there............!

Great accommodation right in the heart of old Whitby.. Clean, well decorated and furnished with all the expectations of your own kitchen! Loved it. Close to all amenities which is where we wanted to be. Car park a short walk away. We never moved the car just updated the pay and display ticket each day - very easy. Will be coming again.

This apartment is ideally situated on Church Street in the heart of old Whitby. The apartments are warm, clean and comfortable. We parked in the car park opposite the Endeavour Pub and walked with our luggage to the apartment. The only downside is the steep winding steps up to the second floor bedroom, the bathroom being on the first floor.

We were originally intending to come to Whitby by train, choosing a cottage right in the centre.. We had to change our plans and come by car as after booking we realised that we had to pick up the keys from up near the park and ride. If this was pointed out on the front page before booking then I didn't see it and I feel it should be there so that visitors are aware.

It would appear that cottages rented out by Sykes Cottages do not have any insurance cover for accidental damage or breakages and we had to take out our own cover at an additional expense.. Due to this I would not use them again or recommend them to anybody.

The cottage has great facilities but all it lacks is a dishwasher! Also, although the living room and bedroom are warm, the bathroom is too cold in winter. However, the place is ideally located in the thick of it.

All warnings were useful e.. G. stairs, parking issues etc. This means we were forewarned. Although the letting had a 3star we felt it was very much at the top of this ranking.

We were rightly warned that the stairs were a bit steep- especially relevant for that night time visit to the bathroom-- but-- everything else was top-notch.. We loved watching the hordes of day trippers making their way along Church Street as they contemplated the 199 steps up to the abbey or checked to see if the tide was out enough for them to go down onto the beech. They were tourists-- we felt almost like residents. No knickerbocker glory this visit as the ice-cream parlour downstairs chose our week to have a few days off. Ideally placed for our favourite restaurants and the wet-fish shop, pub just across the road. Good free-sat TV and strong Wi-Fi; comfy living room, and the kitchen equipment, especially the frying pans and pans, all looked more or less brand new.As we prepared to leave [driving the car to load up the bulk of our luggage on our last evening when things were quiet] shops were beginning their preparations for the next few Whitby extravaganzas --- Halloween and Goth weekend....and vampires and bats abounded. We booked a week's parking ticket @ £7 a day [ which covers the abbey, Robin Hood's Bay, Filey and best of all Staithes- as well as Whitby]

Lovely one bedroom flat on 2 levels, situation in a great location at the base of the 199 steps. Flat nicely equipped to meet all your needs. Close to beach, bars, restaurants. Only problem may be trying to park close by - this is a Whitby in general issue though.

The stairs were a bit of a challenge but was forwarned, the microwave i could not work it out looks like it's never been used.. getting in the front door especially with shopping a bit tight but got used to it. the fixtures and fittings were first class, no flat pack items.

The location of the apartment is so central for all restuarants and bars , just about everything.. ...The apartment exceeded most other apartments we had booked previously....
