Here you'll find the oldest fishing club in England, Houghton Fishing Club. It is difficult to imagine that the town, which is surrounded by peaceful hills and undulating terrain, was previously referred to as a "rotten borough"; nearby Hampshire villages with charming churches, old-fashioned country inns, and the spectacular Test Way may also be discovered. A poetry trail comprising ten poems, set in stone, metal, and glass, is scattered throughout the town centre. Poetry enthusiasts will also be impressed to learn that Stockbridge's beauty has inspired numerous poets.
