Hello my parents and I spent two weeks at Sycamore Cottage. And had a lovely time exploring the Peak District. One thing to notw is the location is on a fairly busy busy road and even though there is a speed restriction entering the village, Warning concealed entrance signs would be useful. Also please be aware there isn't a washing machine. There are a couple of supermarkets nearby both Aldi and Co-op in Bakewell. And there is a bus service that passes the property with the bus stop outside the Bulls Head Pub. Beautiful Garden with pond. Ideal for chilling out after walking. Also cottage is beamed which makes it darker than it seems.

A very nice and cosy cottage in a very nice village.. Plenty of walks from the door and a very useful guide with the local information in the cottage. We did not use the car all week. The local pub , 2 minutes walk, is very friendly, dog friendly and good food.

Sycamore Cottage is cosy, comfortable, warm and welcoming.. Perfectly situated for touring The Peak District, it also has lovely walks from the front door, there are plenty of books and guides in the cottage for local walks for all abilities. The owner, Maveen, lives next door, and is friendly, helpful and nothing is too much trouble. This homely cottage is one we shall certainly return to.

Warmly welcomed by Maveen.. The cottage was cosy and well equipped. Having an extra shower and toilet downstairs was a real bonus. The garden was an absolute delight and it was so relaxing to sit watching the fish in the immaculately kept pond. The Bull's Head pub was just a very short walk away being visited on several enjoyable occasions. A great place to stay particularly if you enjoy walking.

Cottage was much smaller than it appeared in phopentographs.. The pictures had been stretched. Note the oval millstone outside the Glass porch etc. Oven did not work. Owners response? "It worked last week". Owner entered accommodation while we were away. When questioned about it there was a fair bit of hesitation before admitting she had been through the property to close an upstairs window. We had purposely left the window o a crack to try dry out condensation which nightly left a pool of water on the window sill. Very old property which has been rented out for over forty years . Very small for four people. Both bedrooms up a steep flight of stairs. All in all an unpleasant experience. No washing machine or use thereof. The list goes on.

The cottage was very homely and cosy, very clean and comfortable and we would go back in an instant. Set in a lovely area with great walks all around and close to Bakewell, Chatsworth House and Farm Shop. There was so much to do and see we would have loved to stayed for another week. We look forward going back!
