We arrived at Elderbank cottage on the 23rd December it being the 1st time we had celebrated away from home. We arrived to Christmas decos all alight which was so welcoming. It was so warm and cosy. There were loads of complementary drink and goodies. The owner kept in touch to make sure everything was good and we were happy which we thought was very nice to have the personal touch. We fell in love with the cottage and village which is ideal if you like walking, you also have a car parking space which is a bonus in Bradwell. We will definitely book again. Other reviews said about the kitchen being small but there is plenty of worktop space so it wasn't a problem

Just returned from staying at Elder Bank cottage in Bradwell.. Perfect base from which to explore the Peak District. We had a great week!

We loved Bradwell.. Very central for walks around the peaks. The cottage was very cosy and well equipped. The only negative thing we have to mention is the oven. The hobs were fine but the grill and oven took ages to cook.

Our first visit to the Peak District and Elderbank was perfect, gets a 10 out of 10 from us! A pretty traditional cottage in a lovely quiet location, with very short walking distance to the local shops and pubs. The parking space was definitely a bonus. Katerina, the owner, was super helpful, and the house was spotlessly clean on arrival. For a small cottage it was really well equipped and we appreciated all the extras like coffee, biscuits and Prosecco! There were lots of additional useful items like tissues, hand sanitizers and wipes etc. The village itself is a great base for exploring the area, and we made use of the local bus service to Castleton which was handy. Bradwell is super hilly beyond the main road through it, very beautiful and interesting and well worth exploring all the side and back streets. We could have easily stayed for another week and would love to come back again - thank you!

The dark Peak District is beautiful in any weather.. People in this part of the world are lovely. The cottage has everything you need for two people. The kitchen is smaller than it looks on the photos but it’s well kitted out with quality. The host was helpful and not intrusive. A nice little welcome pack was thoughtful. The village has nice pubs and you’re close to lots of great places to walk. We had a great week in pretty dodgy weather. The fire really came into its own.

We stayed here the first week that restrictions were lifted and had a much needed holiday. The owner contacted us before hand to go over what we needed to know and answer any questions which was very reassuring. The cottage itself was perfect:. Just right for two people with everything you could want in there. We were left a bottle of prosecco, some yummy biscuits, chocolates in the bedroom and even pocket packs of tissues and hand sanitiser wipes. Everything was spotlessly clean and of super quality. The village itself was very nice with four local pubs including the White Hart just a couple of minutes from the cottage and The Bowling Green Inn about 5 minutes away. Both were very friendly and welcoming with clear anti-virus measures in place. We ate from both the village chip shop and the curry house in Hope, both were nice. We also had a lunch at The Castle in Castleton, again, excellent food and service. I thoroughly recommend staying at Elderbank, the owners have clearly gone to a lot of trouble to make your stay a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

Lovely cottage which we have stayed in before.. All very clean and well cared for. Great location for walking in the Peaks and seeing our family in Sheffield. A great place for resting and recovering with a log fire and friendly people in the village. We will hopefully be returning in a few months time.

January 2019
Lovely sweet, cozy cottage, great fireplace! Location was great for country side walks, and we had no problem finding the local pubs. The place was indeed very small, but pretty much had almost everything you needed for a little getaway. It looks like it was recently renovated, as well, nice couches, beautiful cabinets in the kitchen. It was completely immaculate upon arrival. Our host Katrina left us a stellar bottle of wine, which was so appreciated! She also offered the cottage a few hours earlier than we expected, and texted us about some potential slippery weather. Only wish we could of enjoyed coffee in the garden, I bet it's lovely out there in the springtime! Thanks for a lovely stay! Brenda and Jason

December 2018
Arrived at the cottage on 21st Dec -29th Dec 2018 .. The cottage was beautifully presented, cosy, very well equipped, clean and a few Christmas touches. A box of chocolates and a bottle of wine were waiting for us. The village of Bradwell, set in the hills of Derbyshire, was Beautifull and was well served by good pubs and shops. We visited Chatsworth, all decorated up for Christmas, the theme being children’s fairy stories, it was magical. What could be better than spending Christmas around an open fire in a lovely cottage.
Mr Lilley
September 2018
Bradwell is a perfect location for us.. We could choose good walks everyday without having to use the car. It was very reassuring to know we had a warm comfy cottage to return to. It is also very important to us that “no pets” cottages of this quality are available to us in such a wonderful location.
Mr Weaving
June 2018
Lovely place, Very clean with easy parking.. Welcome gifts very welcome, would have liked to light the open fire but it was a bit too warm for that. Great fish & chip shop down the road and a handy little Co-op. Good base position for exploring and although we did not need it there was a lot of space for storing bikes etc. Will look to book again when visiting the area.
Mrs Carmody

All in all a great base for exploring The Peak District.

December 2013
This was the most perfect property we could have selected. We were looking for a romantic hideaway for a few days of home-away from home comfort, surrounded by beautiful countryside and we couldn't have chosen a better place. From the welcoming bottle of wine and glasses awaiting our arrival to ample fire fuel, and a very clean comfortable and cosy property overall, we were very happy with our stay. I would wholly recommend this property to any couple who seek a few days of pure relaxation.
Mr Orban
November 2013
Elder Bank cottage was ideally located for our walking holiday in the Hope Valley and surrounding area, so many walks close by. The cottage was wonderfully equipped, and furnished and very comfortable. The allocated parking space was a great feature of the cottage. Bradwell has 3 pubs that serve good food, all within a couple of minutes walk from the cottage, although The Samuel Fox is more of a restaurant than a pub, serving excellent food, the best in the village, in my opinion.
Mrs Gaymer
September 2013

My husband and I have just come back from a three night stay at Elder Bank Cottage in Derbyshire and all I can say is "wow!" As it was our first wedding anniversary, and we live in London, we wanted to go somewhere that had beautiful surroundings and a real cottage feel. And it was just that. The cottage is small but beautifully decorated. Everything was clean (exactly how it looks in the pictures!) and it has an open fire. We couldn't recommend this place highly enough. It is total value for money and very much worth a visit.

The cottage really was excellent -although the owners only lived 100metres away, we never had cause to contact them about anything after the directions and key allocation were sorted on the phone. The only concern now is how any other cottage will compare in the future! We felt the cottage was a home from home, and with the information leaflets left by the owners about local interests, we had a very full week.

A lovely property, a great location. Away from but close enough to the tourist bits. Two lovely pubs nearby. Our favourite being the Old Bowling Green.

This is a wonderful cottage. I think it's fair to say that this is the best cottage that I have stayed in. A wonderful, warm, cosy and homely cottage. Good clear directions. The property was immaculately clean and arriving to a pint of milk in the fridge and a ready laid fire was exactly what we needed after a 4 hour drive. I would recommend this cottage without hesitation.

Property ideally situated close to the most interesting parts of the Peak District. As well as the property being of the highest standard, the owners added a number of most thoughtful 'extras', including fresh flowers, a bottle of wine, a bottle of milk and a packet of fancy biscuits! Elder Cottage really felt like a home from home, and we very sorry to have to leave at the end of the week.

A very warm welcome. Cottage very well fitted and kitted. Some unexpected but welcomed touches such as a charged torch ready to use, every kitchen implement that could be needed , though stored away in minimalistic manner, thus very tidy appearance. 10/10. Very cosy during snowy weather!
