Area
The village of Peak Forest is situated in the heart of the Peak District National Park, boasting an excellent pub. The village is named for the Royal Forest of the Peak, which was an open area used as a royal hunting park rather than a forested area. Eldon Hole, one of the seven wonders of the Peak, is surrounded by walking country. Nearby are the villages of Edale, the start of the Pennine Way, Castleton, with four caverns to visit, the ‘plague’ village of Eyam, and Tideswell, where the church is regarded as the cathedral of the Peak. Enjoy a day out at Alton Towers or visit the Chatsworth House estate, Haddon Hall, or the house and gardens at Lyme Park, all within easy reach.

Region
The ultimate in “year-round” appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.

The cottage was large and beautiful.. Set in a lovely garden and surroundings..perfect position to enjoy all the lovely villages and beautiful countryside that the peak district has to offer.on the down side.the central heating boiler was located outside the cottage and was preset by the owner...and because there was no fire we found it cold for many parts of the day...the settee was so uncomfortable that it left us with neck ache....and perhaps a small welcome pack would have been appreciated as most cottages we visit have one and it makes you feel most welcome....overall the cottage was great value for money .easy solution is to slightly raise the price of the cottage to cover the cost of these minor details.overall a great stay .many thanks.

Barn Cottage was perfect, well equipped, comfortable, ideal for dog with fields just out the backdoor, There is no WiFi, or EE phone coverage but that was lovely, and you can get both at the local pub, which did lovely food, and was dog friendly, We had a lovely time, a very beautiful area, Eyam, Castleton lovely villages, and Dovedale a must for walking..
