The cottage was perfect for us and our two dogs. Everything we needed was provided. The lovely patio, and the additional garden shared with the neighbouring holiday cottage was just perfect and secure for the dogs. Lots of dog walking close to the farm too. Owner was friendly, but let us get on with our holiday. Somewhere to return to.

The wood burning stove and storage heaters made it warm and cosy.. Staying on the farm was quiet and relaxed. There were goldfinches on the bird feeder, red kites circling overhead. We saw owls and bats at night, all this, only 5 minutes walk to the cosy pub up the road.

We felt very relaxed as soon as we arrived although there was a chill in the rooms so maybe heating on for arrival would be a nice touch but the log fire soon had the lounge warm.. Great for the dogs, they really enjoyed playing in the well kept gardens. Overall a fabulous holiday and location.

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely little cottage.. We stayed for a week with our 2 boys (5 and 2 years) who loved sleeping in the bunk beds and playing on the trampoline. Lois was very friendly and welcoming, even with the Covid restrictions she greeted us and gave us some more information about the cottage and the surrounding area. We were well placed for many activities in the Peak District and found the cottage comfortable for resting after a busy day. We only wish we could’ve stayed longer!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage.. It was comfortable and in a fabulous location for the abundance of walks on offer in the surrounding area. The nearest town of Ashbourne was a five minute journey and Dovedale was just on the doorstep too. We were made to feel very welcome by the owners and the girls loved being able to take a peek at the horses in the stables. The garden was an added bonus for the dog, who also had access to a disused runway for his morning and evening walks. All in all we would recommend staying here and should we ever do a staycation again in the coming years, this would be in the top of our list. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Lovey people and beautiful peaceful location .. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable . The only downside was the heating. Night storage heaters gave lots of heat during the day when we were not at home but very little in the evenings when you needed it . The log burner was essential . Apart from that we had a lovely break and would definitely go there again.

A beautiful, well equipped cottage in a lovely, peaceful area.. We booked the cottage to attend a Christening in St James church, we thoroughly enjoyed a glass of red in front of the log burner on the Saturday evening before walking to The Shire Horse pub for a wonderful meal, very friendly staff and dog friendly! We would thoroughly recommend this beautiful little cottage.

We enjoyed our stay at orchard cottage, it was central to many nice attractions and close to plenty of shops in Ashbourne.. Our granddaughter enjoyed playing on the swings and the large trampoline opposite the cottage. There is a pathway leading to a disused airfield that is perfect for walking dogs. The beds were very comfortable so we slept well, and had no trouble finding the place. many thanks lyn and eric.

Nice and warm if a little uncontrollable, especially the wood burner that would benefit from a new door seal to make it more controllable.. (I did not use the extra logs I collected) A coat hook on the bathroom door would be a benefit and new shower curtain or at least a good wash. Very many thanks

Lovely cottage in quiet surroundings, conveniently situated for a wide range of attractions within a short drive. We were made to feel very welcome and had a great holiday with our family and dog. We enjoyed Alton Towers, Crich Tramway Museum, Ashbourne, Buxton, Matlock Bath, cycling the Tissington trail, walks at several reservoirs and Dovedale.

We loved the quiet location of this cottage, but also how we were not far from Ashbourne town centre, Alton towers and other amenities. The cottage had everything that we would need, to make our stay a home from home experience. The garden was fantastic for kids to run about safely. We would definitely recommend the cottage to anyone.

The cottage was very nicely placed for exploring the south and mid Peak District National Park. It was in a quiet, easy to reach location. The cottage and the garden was excellent for the dogs, also there was a nice dog walk just outside the door.

April 2015
The setting of this lovely cottage was perfect for our young family. The owners were relaxed and willing to allow the children to roam through the fields, use the trampoline, and visit the horses. It was a relaxing and fun week, spent outdoors in the sunshine. Proximity to Carsington Water, Dovedale and a lovely pub called 'The Rose and Crown' in Middle Mayfield made the holiday complete. Thank you.

The beautiful, tranquil setting. Very secluded and safe - our boys spent many hours running about outside and playing on the huge trampoline and swings. They also loved looking at the horses. The owner was lovely - very friendly, helpful and kind. A wonderful peaceful place to spend a week - lovely location.

Fantastic cottage in a great location which was tranquil and very peaceful, but also close enough to be a great base for exploring the Peak District. We enjoyed days out at Dovedale, Carsington Water, Manifold bike trail, Ashbourne and Alton towers, all a short distance away. Also great to have a pub just up the road serving great food.

Orchard Cottage is in a lovely location with a very friendly pub just up the road(had to drive there due to dark country lanes). Very clean, warm, well equipped with log fire and outside space for chilling.Owners very approachable and helpful/cheerful.Convenient for alton towers and there are plenty of other attractions but a lot of driving. The bunk beds are good for kids but at my age,a trifle difficult to manage as my grandson was too young for the top bunk! This bedroom was a little small and not much space to move around or put anything away but we go for activities so managed well enough.Overall, was very happy with the place and it's good to have the option of cottages next door for more guests if required.Very happy overall.

Cosy cottage with a friendly welcome. Good location for alton Towers, approx 20 mins drive away. The Stepping Stones Pub, located next to the nearby Travelodge does lovely meals at very reasonable prices. Six people in our party, two sharing the futon in the lounge.
