Topiary Cottage is a super barn conversion, in the village of Ings, just two miles from Windermere, and can sleep two people. This all ground floor cottage has a king-size double bedroom, a shower room and an open plan living area with a kitchen, dining area and sitting area with electric fire. Outside there is off road parking for two cars and a patio and garden with furniture. Topiary Cottage is a lovely holiday cottage.

Area
The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip. Children will enjoy a trip to the "World of Beatrix Potter" in Bowness whilst the villages of Grasmere, Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains are all within easy reach.

Amazing cottage, amazing views.. Cottage was lovely and comfy real home from home. Owners very helpful and chatty. Gerry mentioned about our bus passes and suggested some trips which we took advantage of, we wouldn't have thought about them. Bus stop at end of drive and buses go to all the main towns from Windermere 5 minutes down the road, plus very regular even on a Sunday. Cottage was spotless and all Covid precautions were taken. We certainly would stay again when wanting to go to The Lakes again. Well worthy of the 4* rating.

Lovely cottage with everything you need for a comfortable stay.. The garden was especially nice, as were the views from the garden. The owners were a lovely, friendly couple and made us feel very welcome. We would highly recommend.

The cottage is in a lovely setting and has an excellent garden with a little river at the bottom of the garden.. The hosts were very friendly and available if needed. The cottage in the small village of Ings is in an excellent location near to the main road between Kendal and Keswick. We therefore did not use our car at all. We certainly enjoyed our week in Topiary Cottage and would not hesitate to return again.

Another relaxing stay.. The cottage is just perfect it has everything that you need. It is not in the centre of Windermere but only a couple of minutes away by car. There is a lovely pub that serves excellent food and a good choice of drinks just a 2 minute walk away. There is also a very nice farm shop up the lane that you can buy your meat, chicken etc at and also have a bite to eat and a coffee.

An amazing place to stay in a beautiful location.. I loved morning walks from here, past three and horses. Getting up in the morning was never easy because the bed was so incredibly comfortable. I highly recommend topiary cottage.

The cottage was warm all the time and the kitchen was really well kitted out.. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The owners were very friendly and were always on hand if anything was needed. Overall a wonderful place to stay and I will no doubt book here again.

A lovely spacious cottage which was well equipped and warm on the cold Lakes nights.. Whilst location is not in the heart of Windermere, being on the outskirts made it a quieter, less hectic place to stay. Very easily accessible and still very close to all The Lakes has to offer. The Lakes district is a beautiful vicinity offering something of interest for all tastes.

Stayed here for a short break in late October, weather turned cold on our arrival date and we found the cottage chilly at night. Heating is by electric heaters which are pre-set by the owner. Lovely comfortable relaxing setting with great food at the local pub available. Good Wi-fi, phone service (o2) and parking on site. Adjoining guest house was full on Saturday/Sunday night, random parking by guests caused difficulty on the second night of our stay. Could have been better controlled to make better for everyone but other times were fine.

This is our first time in the Lake District.. The cottage was very good and gave us easy access to a lot of the Lake District. The owners were very pleasant. The garden was beautiful. We could not fault it .Ings village was lovely and the Waterville pub was excellent

We felt very welcome at Topiary Cottage from the moment we arrived until we were bid farewell.. It’s very conveniently located for access to Windermere and the rest of the lakes. The pub over the road does great food and we ended up eating there twice as it was so convenient and tasty. We will definitely be back to stay in Topiary Cottage

Lovely cottage in a great location.. Good for walking but also very near the main bus route to Windermere, Grasmere, Ambleside, Kendal etc so easy to travel without having to take the car. Gerry the owner was friendly and willing to help if we needed anything.

My wife and I stayed for a week from the 10/11/18 and had a super time in this comfortable well equipped cosy cottage . It is well situated to explore the area and if you need any help or advice the lovely helpful owners are only next door . We didn’t have any parking or noise issues especially as the car didn’t move apart from once all week.

We booked this for a week and arrived Saturday, 20/10/18. The cottage is well equipped with everything you could need. There are some remarks about 02 reception but we had full signal and 4g all the time. The cottage is right near a busy road with traffic noise all day and night is like us you have a window open at night, but we overcame this by closing the windows and using the Dyson fan provided. We had no parking issues and the cottage is next to stable but this did not cause any major issues at all. Very good location for all the lakes !

We have been to this cottage previously ie April 2016 and for its location and facilities were happy to return, particularly with the Watermill Inn being 2minutes over the road.. The cottage furniture had been considerably improved being replaced throughout the sitting and bedroom areas, excellent. However, why replace the bedroom furniture including the bed and leave a double mattress that it seemed to be so old that it sags in two halves? The other ponderable is why when the property depends upon a shower only, when opening the bag marked bath mat, you find something that is black and mouldy and feel sure if you use it, you will feel dirty having used it in the shower than not having a shower! This cottage without these anomalies would be great for use at short notice, if available, ie within 2hrs from home straight up the motorway, 106 miles, good location and pub over the road.

The Cottage is lovely and cosy, and very well equipped.. Decor lovely . There were a couple of downsides, the Cottage is right next to stables and they start quite early, not a major issue as we wake early anyway, but we do like to sleep with the windows open and there is a very noisy road that is busy all day and night. We were able to close the windows and use the fan provided, but this is just a personal thing, also the bed needs up grading it has a topper but it sinks in places and needs replacing. Otherwise lovely cottage !

This lovely cottage was the perfect base for our first visit to the Lake District although the sat nav did send us some dodgy roads en route to the start of our walks.. It was nice to return to a cosy cottage which had everything one would need for self catering but we must admit that the Waterwheel public house across the road (200 metres away) does great food and brews its own beer. Once again Sykes have come up trumps in providing a top class cottage for our holiday. Thank you.

Very nice setting.. There is some noise from the A road, but not intrusive. There are lovely quiet lanes right near the cottage, and public footpaths across the fields. At the rear of the property is a stable yard, so the most we heard was the odd neigh, and some clip clopping back and forth, which was lovely! Bus stop very near the house so easy to get to Windermere, Bowness etc if you don't have a car.

It was a cold snowy weekend and we struggled to keep warm .. Radiators were locked so we couldn’t adjust the temperature. Extra heaters were available but they don’t heat very well. More heating needed in bathroom - no radiator just a heated towel rail which does not warm the room enough when it’s only 1 degree outside ! Other than the heating , parking slot was a bit tight but overall a pleasant stay.

We really enjoyed staying at this cottage, it was very clean, comfortable and warm, Mr & Mrs Wilkinson were the perfect hosts.. The cottage was located close enough to a main route into Windermere making travel to local attractions easy to attain. There was a very good pub only moments away which served very good food. We were so pleased with this cottage and amenities that we will be booking again.

Topiary cottage is one of the best cottages we have stayed in the owners were very helpful and took time out to show us how cooker, microwave, TV and outdoor seating worked this is the first time an owner has took the time to show us around there cottage, just show's how much Mr & Mrs Wilkinson take pleasure in there cottage.. We had a fantastic time in the Lake District, Topiary Cottage was lovely, clean with all the essentials. Patio and garden was great. Parking was tight but we were always able to get a space. Phone signal is poor but Wifi was okay. Cottage is in a good position, Kendal, Windermere, Bowness and Ambleside are all a short drive away - however we walked to them all

We have just stayed here for the second time. This is a really super, well equipped and comfortable cottage. It has everything you could reasonable want including a lovely terrace and garden.
