The en suite was extremely small so anyone who is large framed or has disabilities would be unable to make use of this facility.. There is a toilet upstairs which is spacious as it is in the laundry room but no shower. Apart from the bathroom everything was lovely.

The bedrooms on the ground floor were beautifully cool for us during the heatwave.. Well equipped accommodation with some really useful information given about local restaurants/amenities. We had an amazing meal in the pub opposite on our last night. Thank you for your recommendation !!

Sandown is in a fabulous location.. Parking for 3 cars with plenty of room. House immaculately clean, warm and welcoming. The kitchen lacked nothing at all and we loved the open plan dining/living area. Bedrooms all very comfortable and a good size. Bonus that all were en suite - small yet perfectly functional and super clean. We would not hesitate to recommend this property and hope to return in the not too distant future.

The house is ideally situated, having a great choice of eateries and shops within easy walking distance.. It is very comfortable and well equipped. The owners communication was excellent, as was her quick return of the housekeeping bond. We had a great time and would not hesitate to recommend Sandown.

Faultless experience! Great location, exceptionally clean! Every facility a home could offer. Great location, minutes walk from every bar, restaurant and shops. 5 minuets walk from the lake. I would highly recommend this property to anybody.

Sandown is a great holiday home.. It has 4 decent size bedrooms with the beds being comfortable. It has everything and a bit more that you need. There was 6 adults in our party and still plenty of room the dining room and lounge are a very decent size with plenty of room for you all. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants near by, there is one just across the road and the Westmorland just down the road on the right hand side which in our opinion is the best, do try there topside and veg pie you won’t be disappointed. To get to the rest and the town it is down hill, but a great place. We would definitely stay here again if we come up that way also if you are taking a dog like we did, you can take it in all eating places and pubs and taxis will also take them. Great holiday place.

Delighted with our stay at Sandown.. Beautiful spacious property. Immaculately clean, very well equipped and all rooms being en-suite is a bonus. The house for us was the perfect location. Loved it. Would recommend and would hope to visit again in the future.

Well presented accommodation, clean and with all necessary facilities.. Easy walking distance to both Windermere and Bowness and with easy access to major roads to travel to different areas of the Lake District. Four good size ensuite bedrooms, although showers are cozy. Would definitely stay here again.

Sandown is a lovely holiday home to stay in.. It was plenty big enough for family of 7, with shower and toilet in every room, we were never in each others way. The living and dining room area is very spacious, we enjoyed the selection of board games and books the owners provided. The kitchen had plenty of crockery and cooking utensils to serve up family dinners (on the nights we stayed in). Sandown is within walking distance to Bowness, which we enjoyed exploring, many other attractions are within short driving distance too. We would definitely book Sandown again when we visit the Lake next time.

This property was excellent.. 4 bedrooms with great en suite facilities It was warm, roomy and most importantly - clean. Lots of storage space and the kitchen had all we needed. Georgeene (owner) couldnt have been more helpful. Very pleasant. Its close to Bowness (3 min walk) and Windermere (10 min walk). Tips: Opposite is a great little family run bar and restaurant, I recommend you go see Graham, he will look after you. If you fancy a woodland walk to Bowness instead of the main road, there's a little (great for the dog) walk up by the school and through the woods. I would definitely recommend this property, its close to everything you want from the Lakes. I hope to book it again next year. x

This is an ideal location with plenty of eating places all within walking distance.. We did feel the kitchen area is in need of a little update ,the cooker in particular .

A fantastic property in a great location.. It was very clean and the living/dining areas were nice and large but a had a cosy feel. Each bedroom having an en-suite was ideal. Plenty of parking space too which is often difficult to find in the Lakes. Would highly recommend and definitely would stay again.

Sandown was a lovely cottage, situated in a perfect spot for exploring all the Lakes and places of interest.. It met all our needs and we all had a fantastic holiday. We went out everyday and spent the evenings relaxing. We would definitely go back there again. Liz McGuigan.

Although the upper floor was spacious we all thought the shower in particular and the toilet area in two of the bedrooms were very, very small.. One had very bad mould in the shower. I would have used the vacuum cleaner there had it not thrown out more dust than it picked up. Maybe it's time for a repaint. On a positive side having hot water and heating readily there was good. ----------------------- OWNERS REPLY We appreciate guests leaving feedback but on this occasion we would like to clarify the comment saying there was mold in one of the showers. Should the guests have looked in the house manual there is a maintenance note in the front of the book explaining that unfortunately some previous guests had spilt some permanent black hair dye in one of the showers and unfortunately this has stained the shower tray in addition to the trim so the whole thing will need replacing. As this is not a job that we are able to do within the short change over time we have on a Friday and we are fully booked for the year, it is a maintenance issue we will sort out when we close down for the winter. It is however, quite obvious that this is not mold but a bad stain as the bathrooms were fully refurbished in February of this year.

This was the first time we had used Sykes Cottages.. The house looked a bit shabby on the outside but inside it was well equipped and the living space was very pleasant and open. It suited the needs of our three generations family very well, being near the town of Bowness but with four en suite bedrooms and parking for all three cars. There was a power cut one evening and we appreciated the fact that the owner sent us a text to tell us what time the power was due to be be put back on and offering to bring us some candles. We would be very happy to use this accommodation again.

We booked Sandown, as we were taking all our family on holiday with us whilst we took up a charity challenge and wanted to be based closed to where the activities were taking part.. The house provide the best base for this, the accommodation met our needs, and provided all parties with en-suite facilities, which when there are 3 generations in the party makes life far easier. The house is situated perfectly for walkers and holiday makers alike. Perfect access by foot, bus and car.

1. Overall, we had a really good weekend and enjoyed our stay.. The beds were very comfortable. 2. Some of us found the shower cubicle a bit tight for room. 3. 10.00a.m is a very early deadline on leaving day,we just about managed it but it was a struggle.

We booked Sandown for a family birthday weekend.. The facilities were more than I expected for a self catering cottage with touches like tea, coffee, sugar supplied. There is ample space for seven people in the cottage and each room has an ensuite (compact but fine). Just one of the couples thought the mattress could do with replacing on their bed. Otherwise we were happy with what we got for the price. The location is perfect for strolling into Bowness to eat, drink and explore. I think we would return to both Sandown and Bowness in future.

The cottage was clean , had all the amenities and close to the lake, restaurants and convenience stores but away from the crowd . The cottage is also equipped with all the information of tourist attraction and walks . All rooms were ensuite .there was a nice dining area and a spacious lounge .

This beautiful home from home situated in the heart of Bowness and a stone throw from Windemere is the perfect base for all adventures in the lakes. We first stayed here in August 2013 and have been back every year without fail. Georgie and Mark who run Sandown are amazingly welcoming natural hosts and very soon felt like old friends. Being locals you won't be sort of advice on beautiful walks for all levels of experience and things to see all the family can enjoy. Be it an enchanting romantic getaway or a fun family adventure, you'll find everything and more at the Sandown to write some amazing lake district memories. Jonny

Lots of space and lots of extra touches. The glasses, crockery and kitchen equipment are the best I have ever seen in a holiday let. The beds are very comfortable and the bedding lovely and fresh, and lots of coat hangers!

Sandown was perfect for an adult family like ours, with our own en suite bathrooms and the large, shared living accommodation. The location is perfect for walking down to Bowness or up to Windermere. A very nice place to stay.

It was well situated - within easy walking distance to Lake Windermere and ideal if driving further afield. There was plenty of room for everyone to have their own space, if necessary and it was ideally located for shops, restaurants and local buses.
