Dentdale is located amongst rolling hills and stretches 14 miles from the windswept moors below Whernside to the rivers Dee and Rawthey. At the heart of the dale is the town of Dent, which has existed since Norman times and is a labyrinth of winding cobbled streets. There are three golf courses in the vicinity as well as tennis, horse riding and fishing. With such incredible scenery and so many fascinating trails, the area is a great place for walkers and cyclists. This, together with the surrounding valleys and two National Parks, makes Sedburgh a fantastic spot for a holiday outdoors.

The barn was spotlessly clean, very well equipped and tastefully furnished. Beds were all very comfortable. The setting was magnificent with beautiful views all around; the area was very quiet and relaxing. There were plenty of good walks from the barn, and our grandchild very much enjoyed watching the animals on the farm and the house martins who had nested under the eaves - as we all did! The owner was very helpful when booking direct. The flowers, wine and chocolates left for us were much appreciated. The drive up to the barn from Sedbergh was up a narrow road, but generally very quiet.

Lovely position albeit a long drive to the cottage however this did not trouble us as it was well worth it.. Just a stunning peaceful location. One of the best cottages with have stayed with the range of facilities and kitchen equipment. Very warm and cosy.

The owners of The Riddings go over and beyond making their guests feel so welcome. Unfortunately we didn't have very good weather but the barn conversion was so warm and cosy that it wasn't a hardship to stay in when the rain really came down. My husband and son were the designated drivers for Kendal and other neighbouring places and I have to say they managed really well as the roads are really hairy single track lanes and if you meet someone coming the other way your reversing techniques are severely tested. We loved our spacious ,warm and well-equipped barn and would highly recommend it but don't attempt to use the extremely narrow bridge or you might need the services of a car repair shop.

A wonderful barn, with one of the best stocked kitchens I’ve ever seen.. It’s a fantastic location for those looking forward to getting away from it all. A thoroughly enjoyable week.

Riddings barn was fantastic, it was set amongst beautiful scenery and views of the fells.. The winding narrow lanes made for a picturesque drive up to the property. The barn has been completed to a high standard and has 4 large bedrooms. The wine and chocolates on arrival were most appreciated. Dawn the owner was helpful and we have just returned from a fabulous family Christmas at this wonderful property.

This was the first time me and my friends did anything like this and we honestly couldn’t have picked a better place.. The place itself looked beautiful on the outside. As soon as we walked in it was SO warm and cosy. The living room was the perfect size, the kitchen was huge and had everything you could ever need to cook any meal! The bedrooms were so big and the beds were so comfy. We honestly didn’t want to leave. It was such a wonderful experience and we’d definitely recommend it to others. Thank you Riddings Barn!

Unbelievable for price.. Perfect in every way. The beds were also the best thing I have ever slept on in my life. Facilities were amazing, location was beautiful and the presentation of it in its entirety was flawless. Thank you so much for providing such an incredible experience. We will definitely be booking again!

A stunning property in a stunning location - felt privileged to be in it.. More info could be useful for living In the property e.g. Recycling and what to do when leaving. One of the access roads is only 6'6" wide over stone walled bridge - take note drivers of wide cars there is no leeway. Road up from Sedbergh is fine though.

Stayed here late April 2018 with a party of 7 girlfriends. We'd originally booked for March but the poor weather (snow) made travelling impossible and the owner, Dawn, couldn't have been more helpful in re-arranging the dates at very short notice. We couldn't have been happier with our choice, the accommodation, surroundings and scenery were all spectacular. I wouldn't hesitate to return. I've already passed on the details to a number of people who saw the photos that had been posted on social media of our girly weekend away.

We loved our experience at the barn, very well maintained and detailed.. The only thing we'd add is that the description should maybe be a little clearer to explain that there is no real outside garden area other than the patio table and chairs. The photos give you an idea of the place, and certainly the description doesn't mention garden, but I think on reflection we'd not realised that there was no real garden space per se just views of the lovely landscape and although you could obviously walk, some families may want garden space as well. Which wasn't a problem but maybe needs to be spelt out.

An excellently presented property in an idyllic location, well recommended as a getaway retreat in the heart of the Yorkshire countryside.. However, there is one minor pitfall and that is the extremely narrow bridge leading to the property having come from the M6 motorway direction. the bridge is literally only 6' 6" wide meaning a normal sized car just fits through with a few inches to spare! We did find an alternative route turning left at the bottom of the lane leading directly into Sedbergh. Do not let the bridge of doom put you off, the place is simply superb.

Beautiful, well appointed, well equipped barn conversion. Very spacious. Spotlessly clean. Remote location but not too far from M6. The drive to the barn is not for the faint hearted! (Very narrow roads!). Great area for walking. Easy access to Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. Would definitely recommend.

We liked the setting amid the Howgills velvety-green hills; the ever-changing lights, peace and near absence of other people on the hills. Also, the sheer quality and ingeniousness of the barn conversion. The owners were friendly and their farm is nearby, but they don't intrude.

Great place for large groups, very modern but cosy, maintained to a high standard. Views are amazing, great place to rest and relax but close to Sedbergh and Kendal if you wanted to look around and shop. Beds are super comfy.

February 2016
The Barn was much larger than we expected, a real gem! We booked it for a surprise 60th for my husband so all the family gathered. There was loads of space all round, it was exceptionally well laid out throughout, and was very warm comfortable. There were lots of lovely walks despite the rain! Would recommend this lovely quiet place to anyone!

November 2015
Lots of space in the accommodation, very comfortable, fabulous location. The folder was excellent for information for usage of all electrical equipment, however we would have liked local information contained within the folder such as local doctors dentist etc and recycling information and possibly local restaurants. There was a wealth of information for visitor attractions in the wider area. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and family. The photos on the website do not do the property justice.

7 June 2013. Spent a wonderful week at Riddings in accommodation which could not be bettered. We have stayed at many self catering establishments in our time, but Riddings is clearly the best for quality of conversion; the furniture and all fittings, kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, are all top of the range. The owners provided many, many extras in sundries which you would expect to supply yourself. The location is perfect for peace, views and as much walking as one could ask for -right from the front door, without the need to drive! A hidden gem which we thoroughly recommend.
