Exceeded expectations apart from cold bedroom.. Enjoyed nearby walks and all places vifited. Also had good weather! We do think that in the light of Covid 19 Sykes has a moral obligation to relate whether their letting properties have wifi access or not and if not the nearest medical or clinic contacts as could be crucial for elderly or vulnerable tenants.

House was in a lovely quiet area but walkable distance to pub and shop.. Lovely apartment with on site parking. Not too far from Windermere and south lakes and we visited places we hadn't been previously. Would be better if WiFi was available as due to location mobile data is sometimes hit and miss, so if you are trying to book tickets on line for the likes of trains or visits to places then it can be difficult. Overall a great holiday

The accommodation at 2 Cark House was superb.. My better half and I loved the high ceilings which and warmth during our stay. Although the weather was cold and windy we weren’t prevented from getting out and about to enjoy the beautiful country and excellent eateries and cafes in the area so thank you for a lovely break and we can’t wait for our next visit.

NO TOASTER - when was the last time a self catering apartment didn't have a toaster? Found the instructions for a toaster, but NO TOASTER! Guess it broke, but owner could not be bothered to replace! VERY POOR. Spacious kitchen/ diner and lounge, BUT bedroom tiny. and bed very low making it difficult to get out without banging head on side wall. Would not book again for this reason.

Found the apartment was not quick to warm up, bedroom especially felt cold.. Also dehumidifier started making an awful noise at 4am and just kept going off and coming on again. No Wi-fi I think that could have been noted on website. Wi-fi is an important way of life today and most places tend to have it.

Lovely apartment, lovely setting, good artisan bakers and general dealer s in village.. And 2 pubs although winter opening hours when we there closed at lunch time so couldn't pop in for lunch. Plenty to see in surrounding area, good base to see the southern lakes district.

The apartment is great and the environment is exceptionally quiet.. A great place to unwind and relax away from the world and recharge your batteries. Cartmel is within walking distance and a short train journey to Ulverston is worth a visit (particularly if you want to visit the Laurel & Hardy museum). We also used local circular bus to go to Grange Over Sands and viewed the bay with a walk along the promenade (Buses currently don't run on a weekend). The people in Cark are very friendly and helpful, particularly at the local Londis store.

A good location for visiting a number of Houses and Gardens , in particular Holker Hall,Levens Hall & Sizergh Castle and if you are lucky(unlucky! ) racing at Cartmel.

A really comfortable apartment with a large very well equipped kitchen. The house is in an attractive village with two pubs a very short walk away. Cartmel, with good shops, more pubs and attractive Priory is a short drive, or pleasant walk. Grange-over-Sands nearby has lovely shops, and is worth a visit. A great place to visit, and re-visit.

Cark House is a lovely building set in well maintained landscaped grounds with the river running close. It is situated in a very peaceful setting. The cottage is very well equipped and had everything we required and more. The open plan kitchen, dining room was very pleasant to sit and dine in, which we did most nights of our holiday. It is very well placed for visiting the lakes and Grange over Sands which is close by.

The apartment was so beautiful. Every room had such a different feel, I loved it. Everything you could possibly need in the kitchen and everywhere was wonderfully clean! Shower and bath were great and the bed was very comfortable. The surrounding area was idyllic, plenty of walks from the doorstep. A very short walk to local pub and shop, what more could you ask for?

House well positioned and equipped. A big plus for us was that the seating in lounge was comfortable (unlike some rentals we have had). Overall a nice place to be based.

This apartment, in a beautiful spot, has too many faults to make it top quality. On the plus side it's in a great location in a nice old building with a good pub a short stroll away. There are some good local walks and some superb walks a short drive away. The lovely old village of Cartmel, with its beautiful ancient abbey, is only a couple of miles away, the beautiful Holker Hall is within walking distance and the old fashioned and friendly seaside town of Grange over Sands is about a 10 minute drive away. It is also easy to explore the area by train as there is a fairly frequent, though not entirely reliable service all along the coast of Morcambe Bay and up as far as Carlisle, with the station just a short walk away. The apartment was disappointing though. The kitchen is large, beautifully fitted out and very well equiped. The bathroom is also good, with loads of instant hot water. But the lounge is stark, with a grubby and fairly tatty carpet and was very cold during daylight hours, with the heating times restricted and no access to an over-ride or additional heat source. It was really rather miserable on a cold, very wet early autumn day. The bedroom is simply horrible though, with a cheap and squeaky bed base topped by an even cheaper unsupportive mattress and cheap bedding. We left a day early as we could not bear the thought of trying to sleep in it for one more night, and we both needed physio treatment for back pain when we got home. It's a shame - this apartment could be a real winner with a bit more thought and investment in guests' comfort. Directions to find the key were also laughably poor. We were lucky to be able to ask a resident of a nearby house, otherwise we would have not been able to get access at all.
