Everything you need to visit that area of lakes. Bit out of the way and on a busy road. Quirky cottage, fenced off back garden with parking. Could do with a bit of tlc .

All feedback is overwhelmingly positive with this cottage, location and owner totally exceeding expectations during what has been a difficult time to plan any trip. Duddon cottage is simply fantastic with an excellent size and gardens that really isn't reflected in the formal information shared online. The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed, perfect for our 3 kids and dog. This is a very interesting part of the Lakes with great location to take advantage of impressive local beaches and also easy access to more mainstream lake district spots. We enjoyed this holiday immensely and a huge thank you to Louise for going the extra mile for us. I would not hesitate to book this cottage again.

A very comfortable & well equipped cottage with a delightful garden.. We really enjoyed exploring this part of Cumbria with its stunning scenery away from the more crowded parts of the Lake District. An added bonus was the coast being only 10 minutes drive away with an excellent sandy beach ideal for dog walking - a real contrast to the surrounding scenery. Would definitely recommend a holiday here.

The cottage was fantastic, situated in a lovely location, had a slight issue with the hot water so text the owner and that was sorted within 15 minutes, will definitely be going back again..

The hosts let us arrive early as we were able to arrive before the usual time.. They also provided a lovely welcome pack of tea, coffee, fresh milk, biscuits and a bottle of prosecco. The arrangement for accessing the key were sent in advance and the heating instructions were clear. The cottage is wonderfully comfortable and as warm or cool as the guests want. The beds are good quality and the area is beautiful. We had a great stay and even the dog loved it. Possibly the best we've ever stayed at. Thanks

We stayed at Duddon Cottage for one week, there were six people in our party, and the cottage was amazing, it had everything you could possibly need, very well presented and decorated, lovely period features in all rooms, we met the owners when we arrived, they were very friendly and helpful. It's a very good base for exploring the area of the southern lakes, we couldn't fault anything, the cottage, the owners and the area, everything and everyone were brilliant, we all said we didn't want to leave. We've stayed in lots of cottages all over the U.K, and this one was definitely the best we've ever been too, thank you Duddon Cottage for a great holiday and for making some truly magical memory's

My partner and friends stayed for a week at this lovely cottage...it was full of everything you'd need for self catering..all the appliances were top notch and worked perfectly.the log burning stove was huge and very easy to use.i counted at least 10 different birds just in the back garden...which was beautiful.the cottage was really private and central to plenty of places to visit as well as nearby villages for pubs, food etc.the house was on a quite busy road but we didnt care because everything else about the place made up for it.

This is a lovely cottage.. Three double rooms with super comfy beds and 2 bathrooms. The cottage was very clean and had all that we needed for our stay. The garden was safe for our lively dog. We decided to park our car at the front of the cottage to unload when we arrived as it is quite a walk from where you park your car at the back of the cottage to the cottage (if you get my drift!). We loved our week here with so much to do and see in the surrounding area. Days were filled with walks in the hills, lakes or at the beach. Evenings were spent in the garden relaxing with a drink or two, bbq’s or cooking in the well kitted out kitchen. We had a great time and would highly recommend..

The house was beautiful inside and out.. ..private garden and surrounding wooded area and came with its own natural water feature.discovered over ten different birds in the garden plus a shrew and wood mouse.the bedrooms were all roomy and showers and baths perfect.the cooker was very efficient...so were all other appliances.there was so much to see and do within a 30 mile radius and even the rain didnt stop us.restaurants nearby were lovely and scenery was breathtaking. In my opinion the house had everything.

Lovely cottage, very comfortable and quite well equipped.. Could do with a vegetable steamer and another frying pan. Only negative was that it is situated on the main road and can be very noisy as very heavy traffic. A good base for exploring the western lakes and many good pubs for eating. The Blacksmith Arms was particularly good and would highly recommend.

Amazing stay in a beautiful location.. It was everything our family needed and MORE! The location is perfect. Rural enough for peace and quiet but close enough to every amenity and walk you could want from the Lakes. The garden, woodland and stream was just idyllic . It has character as well being well equipped for every need. The owners go above and beyond to ensure the perfect Lakes getaway. The information packs and notice board at the Cottage gave concise and thorough information about the area. Wi-Fi (for my Son especially) was brilliant. No qualms with this at all. We would definitely come again without doubt.

Duddon Cottage is a home away from home.. Extremely well appointed. There was nothing that we needed that the cottage didn’t have. The beds were very comfortable, beautiful furnishings and lovely decor throughout. I particularly loved the ensuite bathroom.i would highly recommend Duddon Cottage

The cottage was so comfortable and cosy.. It really is off the beaten track surrounded by a lovely wood and stream. It was so relaxing to be in such a dog friendly cottage. Our little terrier loved the experience. Throws over sofas, flagstone and wooden flooring, it was just perfect after a day walking in the Lakes. A perfect stay.

From the moment we left the m6 until the following week when we got back on the m6 the whole holiday was brilliant.. The views were stunning and when we arrived at the cottage you could not have asked for a more beautiful setting.the house was spotless there were items of goodies left to make you feel welcome and boy did it.louise even allowed us in early to watch the Sweden game at the world cup and we won that one .I defy anyone to think of a gadget or kitchen item that duddon didn't have.before I booked the savoy sorry duddon I read every previous review and now having had the privalige of staying there I now know they were so correct.the bonus was the near by village of broughton in furness less than 5 mins away a dog walkers paradise just passed the helpful petrol station was a man made park road that led to a beautiful lake with benches and plenty of ducks you then go to the local bakery for the best items going.thank you louise for all your kindness and to the sykes team that were a dream to deal with.we will count the days down to our return.ricky fagg

Fab place to stay even with 2 children under 5.. So much to do all around 20 minutes drive away from the cottage. Facilities in the cottage were more than we were expecting. Would defiantly recommend a stay here.

We had a wonderful week staying in the delightful Duddon Cottage.. It really was home from home with everything we could possibly need provided for us..... even tea coffee milk and wine on arrival!! We travelled from West Sussex with our two teenage sons their grandparents & 2 small dogs. The cottage was like a tardis, we simply could not believe how much room there was for us all while still being cosy and comfortable. We didn't feel it was walking distance to the local village so we had to drive everywhere which suited our circumstances. Cannot recommend highly enough and we will most definitely be returning. Thank you Louise and Mick for letting us into your beautiful home

This was an extremely well positioned holiday home for the south west lake district giving access to sca fell pike and the old man of coniston being only ten or twelve miles.. However with everything in the Lake District always set out early!

Really nice cottage with some great period features including an original bread oven in the kitchen. The location is good for walking and there is an amazing old iron furnace to the rear of the property which is well worth a nosey. Broughton has some fantastic hostelries a particular highlight is the Masons arms and its selection of real ales. Should you wish to venture out Coniston is only 15 minutes away and Ulverston around 30 minutes.

The early morning traffic was noticeable in the two front bedrooms.. The walk up to the cottage from the car park is longer than expected, not a problem except for carrying luggage and in the rain.Otherwise very good indeed.

When we arrived we found the cottage exactly where it should be.. Directions were spot on. We found the key and accessed the cottage easily. when we looked around. WOW!!! we went upstairs to chose our bedrooms. The first bedroom was the largest bedroom which was grabbed by our relatives over from Australia. then we looked at the second bedroom, I found a door in the corner of the room and again. WOW!!! The en-suite to this bedroom was up four steps into another room and it was perfect. The third bedroom was perfect for our son. The main bathroom was again clean and tidy and ideal for the others. The stair case was so wide, you would be forgiven for thinking your were in a grand house instead of what looked like a small cottage. When I say small, it was deceiving. All the rooms were deceptively large and comfortable. It even had a utility room which was big enough to swing a cat. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our week and will definitely look at Duddon Cottage again if in the area. Thank you for making our stay just perfect.

This beautiful cottage has everything you might need for self-catering holiday. It has clearly been recently refurbished to a very high standard and the owners have sympathetically thought to retain many of the original features of which there are many. The kitchen is lovely and well equipped with everything you might need along with fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher as well as washing machine and tumble dryer in the utility room (more appliances than we have at home actually!) There is also plenty of storage space for coats and boots in the utility room. Our party was only four and a small dog, however the cottage very comfortably accommodates six people and the three bedrooms are all of a really good size – each with ample wardrobe and drawer space. There is a family bathroom which has both shower and bath as well as a very chic en suite to one of the bedrooms with a free standing bath and large shower. The lounge was very bright and comfortable with a huge fireplace/wood burning stove and we also made use of the dining room on more than one occasion when we decided to eat in which again was a nice bright room. The gardens are a real bonus at Duddon Cottage, with lots of separate areas and it even has a trickling brook running through the small private woodland which we explored and discovered what looked to have been an old terraced Japanese garden in days gone by. I wonder if this will be restored at some point? An area of the garden directly outside the back door is very securely fenced off so if you do have small children or dogs it is very safe and the whole plot is gated with plenty of parking spaces. Location is a short distance from the pretty village of Broughton-in-Furness (which is a little less busy than the nearby Coniston) where we spent a lovely evening sat in the snug of the Black Cock Inn with the very friendly locals (Hello Postie Paul!). Advisable to book if you want to eat there as it does fill up quite quickly and we missed out unfortunately. Silecroft beach is close by (about 8 miles – less than 15 mins in the car) which is great for walking with or without a dog as it seems to stretch on forever. All in all Duddon Cottage was an idyllic getaway for us and we really enjoyed our stay here. It is slightly different from your normal holiday cottage with being so close to the coast and lovely sandy/shingle beaches - yet also within a few mins drive of the lakes and hills the area is famous for. For us it really did have everything – and we’ve already booked to go back in the Autumn.

A lovely cottage tastefully renovated so that there are all mod cons without losing the character. Thick solid walls, beamed ceilings, quirky built in cupboards, wide floorboards, stone flagged kitchen complete with original kitchen range yet still a built-in fridge/freezer and dishwasher, modern cooker, microwave, and all laundry facilities available. Also TV etc but we didn't use any of the entertainment equipment other than books and games. We stayed as a group, 2 couples and found everything we needed, a very comfortable stay. There's also a beautiful natural garden, and it's in an interesting area with many varied activities to hand. We recommend walking on fells, in woodland and along coastal paths, also Ravenglass with L'al Ratty, Haverigg with the Hodbarrow RSPB reserve, Muncaster castle and Broughton-in-Furness. Lots of pubs nearby serving real ale and varied pub meals, would particularly recommend The Prince of Wales at Foxfield and The Blacksmiths Arms at Broughton Mills, but the 3 pubs in Broughton-in-Furness are also excellent.

We stayed at Duddon Cottage as a family -two adults and three children- around Easter.. It is a great place that marries the features of an old cottage with modern gadgets. The décor is very tasteful and the cottage is spacious. Plenty of storage in the bedrooms, big kitchen with all the things you need. I managed to cook just like at home. I saw there is all the equipment to do a barbecue in the summer too. The children loved playing outside in the quirky garden : there is a very shallow brook running through it, little hills to climb and even a mini-waterfall. Don't forget your wellies! I would love to book Duddon Cottage again in the summer. The children want to go back too.
