Dunnerdale is a beautiful valley in the south west of the Lake District sitting between the Coniston Valley to the east, the Langdale Valley to the north, and Eskdale and Wasdale to the west. The clear waters of the River Duddon, one of the Lake District's last remaining salmon rivers, cascade through the hills. Walk or cycle from the front door, leaving your car behind for the week. A particularly lovely walk is along Grass Guards Ghyll, past Ghyll Spout Waterfall on the Grass Guards Estate and over Fickle Steps. The old market town of Broughton is a lovely village with a local shop, award winning butcher, and local pubs or head over the hills to the well known village of Coniston and enjoy a day out on the lake with plenty of activities to choose from. Alternatively, take a ride on the steam train from Boot in the Eskdale Valley to the Roman town of Ravenglass. Inside, the spacious sitting room is beautifully furnished and incorporates the old beams and historic, feature fireplace with its cosy wood burner. Comfortable sofas and armchairs are set around the coffee table and Smart TV. The delightful dining room is the ideal spot to socialise with family and friends and, on warmer days, you can open the doors onto the patio, complete with bistro furniture. This is a real sun trap on a summer's afternoon and offers great views over to the Coniston Fells. The smart, high quality kitchen offers everything you could need during your stay with an electric hob and oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer and microwave. Two bedrooms are located on the ground floor. The first is a beautiful double bedroom with views across to the Coniston Fells, with an en suite bathroom with bath and WC. The second bedroom offers a king size zip and link (which can be made into a twin on request) and includes beautiful original beams, a feature stone wall, and a door to the garden, with a bathroom including a feature bath, separate shower, and WC. There is also a WC and cloakroom on the ground floor as well as a large utility room with plenty of storage and a second washing machine, dryer, and fridge/freezer. On the second floor, there is a south facing double room and the second king size zip and link (which can be made into twin beds upon request) These bedrooms are complemented by a luxurious family bathroom with shower over bath and WC. Sit outside with a glass of wine in hand on the patio and gaze out at the views, watch the wildlife, and enjoy this rural idyll. There are plenty of spots to sit in the large garden area with mature trees and shrubs. Alternatively, sit by Grass Guards Ghyll, take in the scenery and enjoy the peace and quiet. There is private parking on site for up to four cars.
