The house was very roomy, so that, even with eight adults there, we were able to find space without crowding.. It was also warm and cosy. The two dogs had space for their beds without being in the way. We had not visited Broughton before, but found it to be an excellent base for exploring the south Lakes, and also the coastline with its bird reserves at Millom and South Walney. There were endless possibilities for walks, from the village itself or further afield on the fells.
We noted how friendly the local folk were and the village shops are superb, with butcher, grocer, greengrocer, bakery and post office providing everything one might need for a week's stay.
We would go there again, and book the same property if we had the numbers to warrant it.
