Holiday home
Elm Cottage is a detached sandstone cottage on a working sheep and cattle farm in Flitholme, a small hamlet just over six miles from Appleby-in-Westmorland in Cumbria. The cottage sleeps four people and has a double bedroom, a twin room and a family shower room. It also contains an open plan living area with a kitchen and a sitting area with a woodburning stove. Outside is off road parking and a small enclosed garden with outdoor furniture. Located between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks, Elm Cottage is a lovely holiday home for discovering this beautiful region.

Two bedrooms: 1 x double, 1 x twin. Shower room with shower, basin and WC. Open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area with woodburning stove. Conservatory.

The small town of Brough is situated in the Eden Valley, close to Kirkby Stephen and Appleby-in-Westmorland. Brough is a twin town, the south part is Church Brough and the northern part is Market Brough.

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

The hosts were so welcoming even in these troubled times.. The cottage was well equipped, supremely clean and we wanted for nothing. We arrived on a cool day, but in entering the cottage had a lovely warm welcome. Beds were made up and there were plenty of towels. Judith and Fred introduced themselves over the garden gate due to social distancing and although we saw them on several occasions, they were not intrusive. Would love to visit this place again. The cottage is quiet with lovely views from the front of the property and has a lovely little conservatory, there was plenty of wildlife to see as, well as cows and sheep. Can’t fault the write up about this property.

Lovely stay at Elm Cottage, very comfortable and cosy.. The conservatory was a lovely extra space to enjoy when the sun came out. The cottage was well equipped. Lovely quite location and close to The Lakes and Yorkshire Dales.

Lovely owners and a very comfortable cottage.. Our second time here and again we didnt want to return home. The cottage is warm and comfortable and has everything that you need during your stay. Judith and Fred are very approachable and friendly and were on site if anything was needed but left us alone if we were alright. Would really recomend this cottage for a stay in the beautiful yorkshire countryside.

We had a really relaxing holiday at Elm cottage.. The owners Fred and Judith are lovely people and very helpful. Our little Border Collie can be nervous but she settled really well. We enjoyed walks from the door and trips out to various places including watching a steam train go over the Ribbleshead Viaduct and a great walk in a hidden Nature Reserve. The cottage is really comfortable and has everything you need for the week. The Co -op at Kirkby Stephen is recommended for a food shop.

Elm Cottage is a lovely cosy comfortable property, fully equipped with everything you need.. The location is superb for visiting the Lakes and the Yorkshire Dales, The owners are lovely friendly people, and more than helpful, Kirkby Stephen is a few miles down the road and has many unique shops as well as pubs and tea rooms.

Had a lovely time in the cottage the owners were fantastic very welcoming and helpful.. Our daughter loved the dog and enjoyed the garden. Would definitely recommend staying here was a great base for the week and we didn’t want to leave. All the comforts of your own home.

This is a lovely little cottage with everything on hand to meet your needs.. Although it snowed rather heavily at the beginning of our week we were lovely and cosy and enjoyed the wood burning stove. The cottage is perfectly situated for visiting the Lake District, the Scottish Borders and the Yorkshire Dales (we did all three). The small garden is very secure for visiting dogs and the conservatory is a real suntrap. We really enjoyed our stay at Elm Cottage and will definitely return.

Getting away from the day to day hustle of daily life, The cottage was as it stated on the web site, The owners contacted us re-guarding key collection end even left us a nice present in the fridge, which was nice.. Overall a very nice clean and well equipped cottage.

Lovely holiday.. We got blocked in by the snow as it was a few foot high and snow drifts were huge. Couldn't get out in the car for 3 days. The cottage is a little out of the way, no pub or shop in walking distance and we needed essentials from the shop. Also, the double mattress very hard so I'd recommend taking a mattress topper. Shower is amazing and we were warm and cosy each day. Overall it was a lovely holiday and got to use our snow sledges so very happy!

Had a lovely 4 night break. Cottage had everything you needed. Wood burner made it very cosy on an evening. Bed was very comfortable. Ideal location to explore Dales & Lakes. Warm friendly hosts.

Perfect location for exploring the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District.Judith and Fred made us very welcome and the cottage was very cosy and had everything that you need. Great walks from the door which our miniature schnauzer loved and our boys appreciated the WiFi. Royal Oak in Appleby just a short drive away, very dog friendly and good food. Would really like to stay here again!

Wonderful accomodation from the outside to the inside we could not have picked better.Only down side is we never met the owners still maybe next time.We have never slept so good we came home deflated because we did not want to leave.Everything is in the cottage you could possibly want then some.Very dog friendly he used to love walking up the lane in the morning.The area is so beautiful lush greenery everwhere.We will certainly be back although we have done everything we wanted to do i suppose if you twisted my arm i would come back and do it all again.Loved it.And the shower is fantastic.
