We needed accommodation and booked very late.. I understand that Covid is making things difficult, but on arrival, we were met by a wall of disinfectant smell (smelled more like flyspray) throughout the house. There seemed not to have been enough time between cleaning and arrival. It was really unpleasant and not a great start. The smell persisted for at least 24 hours. Perhaps you should be staggering arrivals and not one out one in on the same day. Or using better cleaning methods/products. The accommodation looked poor from the external photo, but the photos of the interior were good. However, our expectations were not met. The whole enterprise was basic - looked a lot better in the photos, but everything was cheap and disappointing - construction, materials, cutlery, glasses, bedding etc. The carpets and sofas felt tacky and we not comfortable without shoes. The tv didnt work - we notified the caretaker immediately but it wasnt fixed for 3 days, and for a rainy break in september with dark evenings, that was not good enough. Instructions for the use of the property were emailed to us but we couldnt open them on our phones. We asked, but never got a printed copy. It was more like student accommodation. It looked like a party house - Im sure its perfect for a gang of surfers, for partying, drinking and crashing, but it didnt suit us. The description traded on the sea/sunset view which was great, but it was let down by everything else. We will not book through Sykes again.

We were a group of Grandma (84), her three sons and daughter (all in their 50s), and one grandson (7), and found that The Coach House met our varying needs extremely well.. It is spacious, comfortable, and clean, and of course the sea views are superb. Access to beach and cliff walks were on our doorstep, and it made a good centre from which to get to Pendeen, St. Just, Porthgwarra, Mousehole, and Penzance. We thought it was fair value for the price. Our only problem was initially discovering how to work the hob and ovens, never before having encountered a digital touch-button display, and a manual would have been helpful. Thank you to the owners for making it available.

We stayed in this cottage the first week after lockdown. The location was great but it was clear on arrival the cottage needs a lot of work. The downstairs was very damp and smelt a bit. The balcony only had one deckchair on it. The cottage also wasn't clean at all. Hairs on the floor in the bathroom and kitchen grubby. We also arrived at 3:30 and were told we couldn't check in until 4 due to the additional cleaning. This was surprising as I imagine the cottage had been empty for a good few months so unsure why they needed an extra hour and also why a deep clean hadn't been completed. Such a shame as the location is perfect and it could be such a lovely spot with a bit of money spent on it.

The house is in a beautiful location but is run down and not maintained. It was dirty, damp and had mould on the curtains. They play on the views so don't need to invest in keeping it nice.

We love the location of this cottage.. The cottage is very clean and comfortable with fantastic views. Jason the caretaker is always available and had to deal with a rather stubborn drain blockage on another prop. Missed the normal starter pack which also included wine in past

We could not find anything to complain about either at the Coach House or Sykes Cottages.. We have had several holidays booked the Sykes and we have never received anything but good clean cottages, so we can now add another brilliant holiday to the growing list. Looking forward to next year. Thank you.

- Jason; the caretaker was very helpful; however; - The beds were extremely uncomfortable and, on looking, very old.. The mattress springs 'donged' on movement and there was a hard line down the middle of the double bed. I had to use spare duvets to try to improve it. The other beds not much better. Glad to get back home to my own bed. - The en-suite shower was either tepid or boiling hot. - Downstairs toilet main part was cracked. - Very flimsy plastic toilet seats unable to sit on them. - Oven, cracked handle and possibly on it's way out listening to the noise of the fan. - Radiators not working in kitchen and entrance room, thermostat in the kitchen. I used to stay in Carn Eve and its properties thirty years ago and they are unfortunately now looking rather unkempt and shabby in it's general upkeep.

Location is perfect, with the house appointed to make the most of the fabulous views over the bay from Long Ships out to the Scilly isles in the distance.. Great access to Gwenver and coastal walks. Need a new hob, but this was promised. House clean bright and airy. Lovely to have the balcony to take in the sunset with a glass of wine. Overall House was open and airy, parking easy and we enjoyed our stay.

Overall the property could do with updating.. We lost the central heating from Boxing Day. We called out the caretaker who came the following day who got it working again for it to fail again a few hours later. He said he would get a plumber out the following day but I had my reservations due to it being Christmas week and of-course he never turned up. We had to make do with a single electric fan heater which was ok when were altogether in the sitting room. What this meant was that it was cold at night and all the towels were damp. The toilet in the en-suite also leaked. The spectacular view made up for the disappointing accommodation.

The cottage is in a fantastic location, but is very dilapidated. It smelt strongly of wet dog upstairs, and the smell came back throughout the week whenever it warmed up. Neither toilet had a lock on the door, and the downstairs shower sounded like it was made by Massey Ferguson. The shower head was broken. All in all quite a depressing cottage, which is a shame because the location is great.

The coach house sennen, The location is a bit remote you will need your car.The view from the lounge balcony is fantastic. The house felt damp inside, the down stairs bedroom door leaked when raining, the shower downstairs couldnt be used as the shower head was held together with sticky tape, it was also mouldy in places.we only had one point of entry, the fire escape into the garage was locked because it was full of rubbish, the wifi was intermittent,

We had a lovely holiday in this spacious house. It was very clean and had a very spacious kitchen dining area. There is a lovely walk down the private path to the beach although it's very steep in places. The only downside is the tight parking outside and it could do with a repaint in areas and the electric sockets tidying up in the living room. These minor points are more than made up for by the stunning sea views. We received a welcome pack upon arrival a very nice touch.
