Poor communication from the letting agent made things difficult. We spent three nights without hot water due to the power being switched off and did not have use of the washing machine. We could not access the plug which was switched off, encased in an outside cover. We were refused maintenance despite numerous calls. We tried endlessly to remove the cover but could not budge it. When researching it online trying to resolve it we found that this is a difficulty experienced by others. We attempted to phone the owners but they did not return our call despite the fact that they had called us. We were told by the agent that we we were harassing them( which was the daftest thing I have ever heard) and that it was a brand new washing machine.
Hygiene was poor with smells from two of the loos. No bleach, bathroom cleaner or loo cleaner provided. As one of the loos is open in the top bedroom with only a screen, and another in the double on the second floor without a door to the ensuite it's particularly unsavoury. In normal circumstances this would not be acceptable but in times of covid it's horrible.
We spend a lot of time cleaning the house during our time in the house sanitizing surfaces with wipes we had brought and hoovered throughout as it felt very gritty. We took a large number of photos when we left as we had read a review on Google advising this as the poster said he had had money deducted for some complaint. We know that we left it in pristine condition and much better than the way in which we found it.
The letting agent told us that the owners had complained that we had the heating on too high as they were checking this on their phone. We were astonished to hear this. This seemed to explain why we found the sitting room radiator turned down to 7 degrees, they must have been controlling it remotely. Be aware that you will be monitored.
The house has good facilities and a well equipped kitchen. It's generally comfortable with a good location and parking. Bed linen is part polyester which is something I am not keen on but the beds are reasonably comfortable. Wi-Fi is good and reliable.
We were very lucky with the weather and were able to walk all over the place. Sennen Cove is 95% holiday lets which were nearly all unoccupied during our stay due to the time of yeat so parking is easy and the beaches are not too busy. It's not the best of Cornwall though due to it being a holiday park rather than a community.
Most of my reviews are positive ones but in this instance we would most definitely not recommend the property due the poor customer service. The attitude of the owners and their failure to pro use maintenance over the plus. And most importantly poor hygiene.
