Great location, two swans visited us everyday, we heard and saw lots of wildlife- owls and kingfisher etc.. The cottage is comfy and cosy, in a perfect spot as it’s lovely and quiet. We visited St Ives, Polzeath, Falmouth, Rock and walked into Padstow from the cottage which is lovely and scenic.

We thought we would try the north coast for a change and came across Waterside. I think whoever listed the property should revise the listing. This is not an end terrace property. Its quite small inside to say the least. The spiral staircase feels like it's about to collapse and great care must be taken going up or down. I would say not a place for kids because of the staircase. The best shower is downstairs but for light the bathroom upstairs is better. In all honesty if you want peace and the get away from people feel this is not your place. The kitchen is adequate. The internet signal is poor at the best of times. Walking is great as you can walk straight from the front door. Parking is good The local pub/hotel just a couple mins walk away is a waste of time it's only open when they feel like it. Finding a place to eat out was hard with a dog. I love the ruleing no dogs upstairs.....try to tell our dog that as she sleeps beside mother's bedside.

We paid nearly £1000 for a four person cottage for one week.. Whilst we understand that the half term is an expensive period we did not feel that, taking this into consideration, that this represented fair value. For this price we would have expected, at the very least, a welcome pack with the essentials and a bottle of wine. This is not much to expect and every other Sykes cottage we have staid in so far this year has had one. Is that too much to ask in terms of customer service

First, the condition of the cottage on arrival was impeccable.. Next, the parking was very good - designated space for one car and plenty of spare parking for our second car. The veranda overlooking the creek was a delight and source of many hours pleasure seeing the tide coming in and out, and watching birds and fish. We appreciated the wide range of maps and guides to walks and things to see. We were warned about the stairs to the upper floor but they were a bit much for we old ones, so our young one had the upper floor. Consequently she did better than us bed-wise, and she loved her Juliet balcony. The dog enjoyed proximity to the Saints' Way.

We have stayed in several cottages on this creek so we had a good idea of what to expect but this property was the most comfortable of all of them.. Yes - the accommodation is snug for 4 people and the spiral stairs may be an issue for some but the description of the property accurately warns of this. Everything we needed was provided and we really love the (slightly remote) location. The creek has a character if its' own and the wild life is wonderful. It's only a 2 mile (off road) walk to Padstow but be aware of the tide, the boardwalk may be slightly submerged in the case of a very high tide. We love walking and the nearby headlands are fabulous for circular walks, the scenery unbeatable. Go equipped, even though Tesco is only a few minutes drive away and it is very well stocked, it gets very busy during school holiday time. We shall most certainly return and make a point of enjoying more meals at the Old Mill Bistro and The Pickwick. We tend to avoid Stein's empire but the goujons at his cafe make a stop worth a visit!

April 2018 In a week when much of the country was still suffering rain, we had a lot of beautiful if cool weather, so Padstow seems to have its own micro climate.. We also found it well placed for surrounding beaches although 'dog friendly, lead off ones were here and there (leaflet in cottage identified which). Loads of info booklets, leaflets and maps. Prolific mud on all walks, so boots essential and a temperature range of 8 - 16 degrees meant layers. The cottage is lovely in a very quiet location and well equipped. It's on the Saints Way into Padstow, an undulating walk with fabulous views. You could easily spend a day relaxing on the decking or in the sun room (the only cottage to have one) with the river bubbling by. Very steep spiral stairs to first floor bed and bath which our dog attempted twice and fell down as he had no grip. Rather than taking cases up, we took clothes needed only. We'd go back!

A lovely quiet modern cottage, with all the amenities, by a creek watching the swans and ducks float by.. The atmosphere is wonderful if you want to just sit back and relax, food a short drive away was generous if you don’t want to cook and the beaches and coves a childhood paradise which brought back happy bucket and spade memories.

When I first contacted Sophie about the booking I was a little worried as she seemed too nice to be true, the pictures of the location, the walks in the area and the talk of "Large fish" in the tidal stream were all a bit unbelievable.....all were real!....Sophie couldn't have been more helpful, she answered my many questions before we got there, the location couldn't have been better. Myself partner and princess walked to Padstow, both ways, good water proof walking shoes are needed as there are small streams and tidal mud to get through but it is well worth it. (if you don't fancy the walk back just catch the 11A bus from behind Rick Steins chip shop by the carpark, it's £2 each) we sampled many meals in the local pubs of Padstow and couldn't have felt more welcome. The fishing just off the patio was superb, mullet are tricky to catch but I think it makes it more worthwhile when you hook one....the main obstacle are the swans.....no trotting or ground baiting. One word of warning about the cottage, there are spiral stairs to the bedroom and bathroom.....you need to be agile to get up them, the downstairs bedroom has a large bathroom if you didn't fancy the climb. There are 4 restaurants/pubs within 2miles of the cottage, the Mill which is the closest wasn't open the twice we went there....the sign said open but the owners gave their excuses, we went to the Ring O Bells just up the road, lovely food and lovely people. All in all a lovely place to say run by lovely people.... we will look forward to going back there

We loved the location of the cottage, it was very peaceful yet within easy reach of main roads. Loved the patio area although we didn't have the weather to use it to its potential!

Had a delightful stay in a lovely cottage. Situated on the edge of the Little Petherick tidal creek, we have been lucky to enjoy the sight of Moorhen chicks, egrets, curlews and ducks. Waterside Cottage is just THE perfect base for your stay in Cornwall. From the deck huge fish are seen at high tide, with footprints of the elusive otter seen at low tide: this cottage is a real Cornish gem.

A delightful stay in a lovely little cottage. Situated on the edge of the tidal Little Petherick creek, we have been lucky to be visited by 7 Moorhen chicks, egrets, curlews and ducks. A must is the walk along the Camel trail from Old Town Cove (free parking 10 mins from cottage) to Padstow for a pasty from the famous Chough bakery. Further afield, the magnificent Bodmin moor to the North and Porthcurno beach and the Minack Theatre to the South. Waterside cottage is just the perfect base for your stay in Cornwall. From the deck, you see huge fish at high tide; with foot prints from the elusive otter at low tide; this cottage is a real Cornish gem.

Cottage is in superb location beside the tidal creek. Plenty of wildlife to see and fishing/crabbing from the decked area when the tide is in. Very peaceful and relaxing.

this is a comfy cottage in a very peaceful waterside location. Although compact, for a holiday rental where you are out and about most of the time it is plenty big enough for four people. What is lacking in space is made up for by the location on a no through road beside a tidal creek. If you are interested in wildlife this is an excellent locaction for watching birds, listening to owls at night and trying to spot the otter that sneaks by at low tide. We saw the footprints after each tide but never saw their owner. All in all we had a lovely week at waterside. The only minor downer from my wife's perspective was the poor band with on the Wi Fi. It's worth noting that if you want to eat out at more than one venue you need to either walk into Padstow about 45 minute across country or 10 minutes by car and hope you can park. There are other eateries around about with some very good ones in St Meryn. We used Waves and The View. There is also Rick Steins pub The Cornish Arms, it gets busy in the evening so best to go early but the food and beer are good and not overpriced.

Sitting on the decking overlooking the creek, loved feeding the ducklings and swans. It was peaceful and quiet - excellent. Also very near to Padstow for eating out, everything we want in a holiday.

Having always gone to Cornwall in spring and summer we thought we would try in the winter and we were really lucky the cottage was available over new year. The cottage is really comfortable and is tucked away in a quiet spot overlooking a lovely Cornish tidal creek. We saw Kingfishers and Egrets every day and even spotted a stoat on the patio! You can walk from the cottage along the creek to the Camel Trail and then on to Padstow or Wadebridge. It was a real delight to visit at a time of year when everywhere was really quiet - empty beaches, free beach carparks, no queues at the bakery for pasties and lonely coastal path walks....and yes we had great weather!

The cottage was comfortable, homely and pleasantly decorated, a lovely place to come back to after a days sightseeing. Perfectly placed for visiting many attractions in Cornwall. Nice quiet location with pleasant decking area for warmer months of year.
