This has the potentioal to be a great family holiday home, near the shops and harbour and with a fantastic view (probably best in Mousehole). It is let down by non-existent maintenance and I would not recommend it to anyone for a stay. We had a bad experience with being unable to unlock the (very musty) outhouse which contains the only washing machine and a few beach items. Instructions said "in key cupboard", but no key in the cupboard fitted. It turned out the lock had been recently changed but the new key had not been left in the house - there was no way to have known this. We ran out of clean clothes trying to sort this out via various phone numbers (it was eventually sorted by the booking agent - thanks). Visitors should realise that no-one is actively maintaining this house. The 'caretaker' appears to be very elderly and unable to assist. There is dodgy electrics, bad plumbing (bath drain blocked throughout the stay), broken bits and pieces around the house. All a shame as it could be very nice. There is an awkward "sun-room" 1980s(?) extension which has smallish windows and so is a bit dark, damp and uninviting. It does however have a second TV. At the side of the house is a small garden with a trestle table. This gets sun in the mornings. Note that the garden is not fully private as next door have right of way through it (and also behind the house). Parking in Mousehole is an absolute nightmare. You should budget for £11/night in the long-stay car park on the edge of town as the promise of low-cost parking on the harbour walls is just that! Take note that access to the property is not easy - it is surrounded by steep narrow paths and steps and so unsuitable for those with walking disabilities. In summary The Good - the view of Mousehole and its harbour are probably the best in town - very quiet residential neighbourhood away from traffic and crowds - huge master bedroom with 2 windows providing exellent views and light - top-floor twin bedroom - great for teenagers (the precipitous stairs would be dangerous for young children) - country and coastal walks (e.g. Lamorna Cove) start right outside the front gate The Bad - bath and shower over were unuseable due to a blockage which was reported to the management company but persisted throughout the stay - alternative downstairs shower is cramped, has low water flow, and water only gets warm at best - there is no means of properly drying wet clothes. no outdoor clothes line and no tumble dryer. the two badly rusted and damp clothes horses left dirty marks on our clothes - electrics are dodgy. kitchen lights don't switch on and the switch arcs and sparks. radiator in bathroom was arcing with flashes. was all reported. - decor generally very tired with curtain fittings broken and dirty marks on fllorboards etc - no internet or TV (so no way to use any on-demand services except by using your own devices) We love Cornwall but sadly we won't be booking this property again.

The Lookout is a lovely place to stay, it has lovely sea views and has a really nice feel to it. The only downside is the parking which is a difficult anywhere in Mousehole!! The harbour car park is very busy so it is best to try and park on the road.

Very comfortable Bay Fronted Victorian semi overlooking the harbour in Mousehole.. The views from the windows were an absolute joy. Mousehole itself, a maze of little alley ways and narrow streets - charming. Good access to the coastal footpath and other lovely walks and an easy 15 minute drive into Penzance. The house a joy to return to at the end of a day walking the coast path - or in the case of the younger members of the group - rock climbing; surfing; cycling... Lots of interest in the area -Tremenheere sculpture garden, Newlyn School at Penlee House in Penzance; St. Michael's Mount, Lamorna Cove - and much more. HOWEVER - the cottage details were not clear about the lack of vehicular access - my husband has a heart condition - and we would have appreciated advance notice about the hill/flights of steps up to the cottage. We might not have chosen this property had we known about the access which exacerbated his angina. Also the details in the cottage were not very clear about the recycling - Is it only glass? Surely not? (Apologies to the housekeeper for not emptying the recycling box which we left rather full of glass - I'd assumed the waste collection would be a day late due to the bank holiday - it wasn't!) But - despite the access - our three generational family group had a lovely holiday - Thank You The Lookout

We really enjoyed our stay in the Lookout.. It is a very tastefully furnished house, well equipped and decorated with an eye for the detail. The view from the front rooms is spectacular! The house is a little older but very clean and Georgina, the housekeeper, and her husband are really friendly and supportive. It should be mentioned, though, that the house can‘t be reached by car at all. You have to carry all your luggage and the shopping up a steep and narrow little lane, which is a little tedious. We found parking quite difficult as well. We drive a rather large car and so we ended up parking the car well out of Mousehole up the hill most evenings. So more specific information in advance on these two aspects would be helpful and fair. Nevertheless, we would book the house again, since we really felt at home there. We think it is a pity that the garden is not in a better condition, though. It would be a really lovely place to sit. The lower lock of the front door blocks, so on our arrival it took us more than half an hour to open the door, which was not a pleasant experience after a long journey. We called ALL the numbers provided by Sykes (including the one of the local property manager), but couldn‘t reach anybody. So for about half an hour we were quite worried that we wouldn‘t have a place to stay the night. In the end we managed to turn the key, but we really think that lock should be changed. The house also provides a washing machine, which isn‘t mentioned in the description of the property. So that was a pleasant surprise.

Wonderful views and a great base to explore the Southwest of Cornwall.. Although the property was clean and a good size, the main draw back was the parking. The property advertised "Parking is at the car park within a few minutes walk" and of note "Shop, pub and beach 10 minutes walk". The car park described is actually further away from the property than "the pub, beach and shop" so I fail to see how this journey is magically shortened. Perhaps the joy of being able to smell the sea air robs us of our sense of distance and time? The advert also fails to mention that parking can be difficult (along the pier) and there is a £3/day cost. A minor cost you may say but certainly coin grabbing - no parking meters in the area have launched themselves into the 21st century and accept card payments or notes. This property is not designed for those with mobility issues , but Mousehole isn't either. Despite this negative note, my family and I had a wonderful time in Cornwall.

The cottage was lots bigger than we expected and so well equipped.. The photos don't do it justice! It was beautiful and a lovely place to have as a base and wonderful to have the views and garden to sit in. The best cottage we've had in Mousehole, and believe me, we've stayed in a few!

Couldn't find a mention of the washing machine anywhere, so didn't know there was one in the cottage, in a shed outside.. .! Other than that we had a wonderful time, nice and warm when we arrived too, made for a perfect autumn holiday. Wonderful views across the harbour, fantastic...
