I cannot believe that this owner is still allowed to rent this property.. I rented its last Xmas and it was filthy and mouldy and just like all the other reviews I had to do a deep clean first. And contacting the owner is a waste of time. I am surprised that sykes still has this on their books..

Very disappointed and upset!! When I arrived I had to do a deep clean!! Not the best start to a relaxing family holiday! Definitely nothing like the photos on the holiday companies website. It has been VERY mis sold!! Clearly lots of potential but many things need fixing and replacing. Beds are all extremely uncomfortable, 3 mattress toppers on the double en-suite bed!! Bedrooms all smell very musty!! Bathroom door in the en-suite bedroom did not slide shut at all so no privacy when using the toilet or shower in there. Shower head dirty and hair present on it. Windows in the lounge do not shut properly. Curtains coming off the poles. Crack in the window to the middle bedroom. Back garden and room off of garden needs lots of maintenance and tidying up. A few days work and TLC would make this place much better. Since returning home I have looked at the reviews on trip advisor and I am extremely annoyed and disappointed to find that the issues raised have been complained about on many occasions by others who have stayed there!!! On a positive note location, parking and space all really great.

This was a very unpleasant stay and I am currently trying to get a refund back. This cottage is unkempt and with lots of faults and very unclean. You pull up and the first thing you see is a broken glass bottle on the driveway. And also a broken water feature laying on its side with wires sticking out, and there was old dog feaces which I ended up picking up with the glass before I let my dogs out of the car. Opening the front door we had to stand on a broken board which was covering a hole but had got so wet that it was now broken too. Once inside it was very cold because no heating had been left on . My son had to drive around looking for coal on xmas eve. Then it got worst. My sheet was stapled to my broken bed and it was mouldy. My bedroom window had a crack in it. The bath had no plug . The skirting board was hanging off. My sons room had dirty pillowcases and a loose tile in the shower that we had to cover. He had exposed wires in that room and a mirror which was held up with a piece of wood. The wooden flooring throughout was uneven and chipped and lifting in places. And a cupboard kitchen door was really loose. The fencing outside was hanging down with holes in it and the chill out room was absolutely disgusting with a leaking roof and wallpaper hanging off and black mould all over it. I even found blood stains on the mattress topper. could go on, it was shocking. I rang the owner, but it was xmas and I had paid £3400 and I was in shock. I am trying to get some money back but hes now ignoring my emails. I will attach photos. If he fixes everything and does a huge refurbishment, I'm sure it could be a nice place one day.

stayed for a week with family beds very uncomfortable grandson fell out of bed twice due to mattresses, I slept on dirty sofa for a week, property is on a big slope, dirt under sofas and overall dirty, overgrown garden area, granddaughter cut her leg, so we needed to cordon off part of the property. this place is definitely more shabby than chic, however it is in a beautiful location and the owner is not precious about the property hence you can let the kids go wild and if you have dogs its a plus. I would never return here as it is so overpriced for what it is, its more a shack than a house! dangerous outside area so be careful if you have children!

If you love shabby chic, here you'll have plenty of shabby, but chic? Not so much. Keep a sense of humour and whatever you do, don't complain to the owner, it makes an unhappy experience much worse. Enjoy the beach, the walks in the valley, the Beach Café, The Beach House and The Smugglers. Basically stay out as much as possible.

The place is dirty an unsafe. Mould in shower cubicle and behind taps, exposed electrical cable in the shower room, also sockets in the shower room. Loads of flies, probably due to the fact crates outside were full of empty bottles an crates. Skirtings full of dirt. Very uncomfortable beds, cracked glass in bedroom window. Damp smell throughout the property. Avoid if you want a pleasurable break
