Mr Martin
August 2018
We have stayed in five Helpful holiday cottages in the past and all have been very good, with one exceptional, and have never had any complaints.. Fuchsia Cottage, sadly had many issues, and the price was not reflected in the quality of the property.I will list all the things that failed to meet our expectations. 1. Windows inside and out dirty. 2.Damp to the front wall of the property, visible on the inside walls leaving the cottage smelling damp and musty. 3. Freezer compartment so frosted up that the little door wouldn't shut.( we spoke to Steve the caretaker, informing him we would leave the fridge open to defrost on the morning of our departure.) 4. Sofa is uneven and uncomfortable to sit on with springs sticking into you. 5. information box with local attraction leaflets,as mentioned in the cottage folder was missing. 6. Not enough pegs and the springs were all rusty. 7. No indoor airing rack to hang up wet clothes/towels. 8. wooden ground floor was hoovered but filthy. We dropped some food on the floor, and when I wiped it up with a wet kitchen towel was shocked at how black it was. 9.Bathroom windowsill tiles have gaps in the grouting, water ingress is unavoidable as the shower curtain does not fit that far. 8. The front gutter is blocked and the down pipe disconnected. Water just poured off the roof in front of the double bedroom window to the ground when it rained. This did not detract from our stay, but obviously needs addressing.
The property in general is very pretty but is tired looking. It craves a little TLC.
We would like to add that Steve the caretaker was very nice and replaced the leaking shower hose as soon as we reported it to him.
