The Old Cart Shed was everything we had hoped for.. The proprietors Alison and Simon were very helpful and caring. They were there if we needed them, but didn't ever intrude. We felt safe and the property had excellent facilities. The central heating was very effective. We would highly recommend this attractive property for couples who wish to get away for a break. The Old Cart Shed gave us an excellent holiday, very clean, comfortable and extra treats provided.. Our dog was well catered for as well. There was many interesting places to visit within easy reach each day, explored the Cotswold and Wiltshire, and sat by the Thames. Thank you to our hosts, we will be back.

Had a very pleasant stay - lovely comfortable cottage, exploring a lovely part of England we haven’t visited before.. Thanks for allowing the dogs to stay they’ve loved it too!

The accommodation is very quaint and lovely, good facilities and in an interesting area.. It was spotlessly clean, very impressed with standard of cleanliness. Hosts were very responsive when we had an issue with keys. There are a few improvements for comfort - as others have fed back, sofa is very uncomfortable and needs replacing, and the towels are old and rough and could also do with being replaced. Plastic and wooden utensils, and some pans and chopping boards, are unuseable and new ones needed.

We had a wonderful stay at The Old Cart Shed, using it as a base to visit Stonehenge, Longleat and Bath.. Everything has been considered with so much thought having gone into the planning of the property. It really is a home from home, beautiful and clean, and an ideal location. The owners were on hand if we needed them (we didn’t), which was reassuring to know. We wouldn’t hesitate to return.

The Old Cart Shed is absolutely gorgeous.. We were only staying there for a weekend unfortunately. It was very comfortable and clean. You do have to drive to get to any of the more picturesque places but we were ok with that. Would have been nicer if we’d been there for longer so we could have explored further.

The owners were really lovely, checked in with us when we arrived to make sure we had everything and left treats for our dog which were very well received!

A charming little cottage, very private, very pretty, with a lovely little garden to relax in after long days sightseeing.. The hosts were on hand should we need them, and checked all was ok by text. The property was ideally situated for us - we visited Avebury, Silbury Hill, West Kennett, Wayland's Smithy and Stonehenge, as well as several lesser known Neolithic sites (we are archaeologists!). The Indian restaurant across the road was excellent, although due to the coronavirus situation we had takeaway as prefer not to be indoors with other people. A lovely relaxing holiday which was much needed!

The Old Cart Shed is absolutely lovely - tastefully decorated, with everything you could possibly need and more.. The owners had kindly left some basic supplies in the fridge and cupboards and a box of choccy biscuits too - made me feel very welcome. Heating and hot water were excellent - particularly important as it was a very wet November week. I would happily recommend it to anyone thinking of staying there.

This was our second stay and we really enjoyed our time here even though the weather was rather damp. It is a very well equipped place and has everything that you need for a great stay. There is a lot to see and do in the area. This time we went to CaenHill locks and watched as several canal boats went through the flight of locks. We also went to the very interesting Atwell-Wilson motor museum that is nearby be to Avebury Manor and stones. We can certainly recommend this a. Great place to stay.

The location i.. E., the proximity to a busy road and roundabout should be noted on the details as we expected the property to be more rural. The cartshed itself was refurbished beautifully and very well equipped, with the owners being extremely helpful but unobtrusive.

This is a charming place to stay and is very well thought out. It is very well equipped so you can really enjoy your stay. The owners are very Friendly an are there if you need them and if not you are left in peace. Just opposite to the left is a petrol station and a Costcutters shop that also has a chemist and Post office there too. Just a few steps away is the most amazing Indian restaurant called Spice of Asia. Their have an incredible menu with so any options. The food was perfectly cooked and spiced to perfection. They also do take away meals too. This cottage is perfectly placed to explore Wiltshire. When we were there we visited The railway Museum at Swindon. If you go keep your entrance ticket it will enable you to have free parking at the outlet centre. We went to Lacock Abbey and village, which is where Harry potter was filmed, Then we went to Caen Hill locks where there is a long flight of locks. The other place well worth visiting is Avebury to see the stone circles and visit the village. Nearby is the West Kennet Long Barrow , Sudberry Hill and other amazing sights in the area. We would certainly recommend Staying here. There is a lot to do in the area and we will be

The Old Cart Shed is a very well designed property that is a joy to stay in.. There is everything you could need for a comfortable stay. It is perfectly equipped with everything that you need for a great stay either a long or short stay. There is even a garden to sit in when the weather is good. The owners e very welcoming and are there if you need them but give you complete peace during our stay. Almost opposite there is a Costcutter shop that has a Post office and a Chemist that is very handy and a petrol station too. But one of the best things nearby is the Spice of Asia restaurant . It does the most amazing food and has an enormous menu with something for everyone. They also do take away too. The Old Cart Shed is perfectly paced to explore Wiltshire. While there we went to Lacock abbey and the Fox Talbot museum and Village where Harry Potter was Filmed. Then Swindon Designer Outlet and the Great Western Railway museum, Avebury with the stone circles, and then lastly the Caen Hill Flight of locks that are amazing. If you go to the Great Western Museum in Swindon keep your ticket and when you go to the Designer Outlet next door you can get a free car park ticket !! There are so many other places nearby that we will have to return to see more of the area. We would fully recommend this lovely Holiday rental to all ages and hope you have as enjoyable time there as we did.

We had a thoroughly relaxing xmas break to escape the usual hassle and stress.. The cottage was private, very cosy and had everything you could possibly need and more with some lovely personal touches including tasteful decorations which was greatly appreciated. There was good communications with the owners who were on hand if needed - we would definately recommend the old cart shed.

The owners were very efficient with communication, making the booking process nice and simple. The Old Cart Shed was just perfect for our few nights away as a newly married couple, it was cosy, quiet and relaxing. It was also very clean and well organised with clear instructions and handy tips for activities whilst we were in the area. It really felt like we were miles from anywhere due to being so peaceful. It's location however, was also convenient for day trips to the Cotswolds and Bath amongst other places on our to do list. I had to do some work on my laptop whilst staying and the wi-fi is very fast. It was great to have the car right outside on the private drive, we just made sure not to park in front of the owners garage which is behind The Old Cart Shed. We were never disturbed by the owners and as I said it felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. We plan to stay again soon as we live in Wales and it's location makes it the perfect stop over when travelling to London on the M4. Thanks to The Old Cart Shed!

The owners were very helpful and friendly, the property was very clean and very quiet.. The property was full of character . It was a great location for us, as we visited some national trust places near by. Shops, petrol and takeaways all very close by. All within walking distance from the cottage, approx 5- 10 mins ( petrol and shop and chemists over the road from cottage ) . The driveway of the cottage was actually off the mini island, which made it ideal for our daily trips as the 3 roads from the island led to all major routes.

I've never used Sykes before and it was all so easy! ! The listing was easy to understand and comprehensive. It was a very last minute booking over the busy Easter period so i needed to phone in - the girl who took my phone call was very helpful and really nice. The Old Cart shed was cosy and warm upon arrival with a great welcome pack of eggs, milk, biscuits, tea, coffee etc. It had everything you could need ie every faculty like wifi, hair dryer, millions of tv channels and even dog bowl with treats. Also lots of local information, (i highly recommend the Indian across the road.) We love Avebury Stone Circle and that area which was only a 20 minute drive. Allison and Simon the owners were so attentive but also gave you absolute privacy and were really lovely people. Highly recommend Skyes and the Old Cart Shed in Lyneham.

December 2017
The old cart shed is wonderful.. It manages to be both spacious and cosy. We had a wonderful relaxed new year there. It's a short drive from Royal Wotton Basset and the villiage of Avebury where we saw the amazing 4000+ yeras old stone circles. The owners were friendly and helpful and even left us a little new years gift even though we didnt se them the whole weekend we knew they'd be there if needed. There were shopsm takeaways and things to do just a short walk away too. We didn't want to leave, it's a perfect little living space.

A beautiful property (very accurately described) and the perfect setting for exploring Wiltshire and the Cotswolds.. Plenty of local amenities within walking distance, the enclosed garden is perfect for sitting with a drink and relaxing and the walk along Farthing Lane is brilliant for the dogs and owners to stretch their legs and soak up the countryside. The Cottage itself exceeds expectations in all respects, clean, well laid out, homely and well equipped. The owners are lovely and always on hand to help; all in all the perfect break.

The cottage was very welcoming and clean.. It was equipped with all necessities. The owners were very friendly and helpful with finding beautiful local areas to visit. All day trips were a drive away. They kept the property very private for us to enjoy our stay alone. We had a lovely week and would recommend this property.

I have never felt compelled to write a review before but The Old Cart Shed was fantastic.. It was exceptionally clean (and I am a clean freak). It was very, very well resourced and private. It had a beautiful outdoor area where you could sit in peace. Inside was warm and comfortable with lamps and under cabinet lighting in the kitchen. The shower although attached to the taps in the bath was very powerful. There was plenty of storage room and cupboard space. The owner met us after calling him as it was quite difficult to find. He was very helpful and did not disturb us at all over the weekend. I would definitely recommend and return. The pub over the road is quite run down and closes early if there are not many people in. The Curry house over the road is great, one of the best curry's I have had in a long. time.

The kindness of the owners made for a more memorable holiday. The cottage had a lovely feel to it and was very well laid out. All the rooms were spotlessly clean and well presented. It was a wonderful place to just relax in the evening after all the day's activities. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone wanting to visit the area or just for a relaxing weekend away.
