Area
East Devon's charming market town of Honiton has a lot to offer tourists. It is bordered by rolling Devon hills, verdant wooded valleys, and numerous dispersed rural communities. Honiton has a lovely Main Street reaching approximately 2 miles, and lined with independently owned stores, taverns, and restaurants. Since Elizabeth I's time, Honiton has been known for its lacemaking, and there are still a few of them working now. Visitors can view some exquisite specimens of old lace at the town's Allhallows Museum. Thelma Hulbert Gallery, located in the charming Grade I-listed Victorian home in Honiton, is the sole public art gallery in East Devon and has connections to the Hayward Gallery in London. The stunning Jurassic Coast, England's first natural World Heritage Site, is only a short drive from Honiton.
