We stayed for a week in October with our son and his dog. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is truly beautiful and the cottage is situated within a naturally beautiful area with access to walks and scenery literally outside the door. The cottage is quite remote and while Cookstown and Omagh are relatively near it is advisable to stock up on essentials on your way to Shepherd's retreat.
The cottage itself is self contained and lovely and warm. It has everything and facilities for drying clothes etc.
I would definitely book again.

This is rated 3* by the Northern Ireland tourist board. It is comfortable rather than luxurious. There are a few things we really liked though:
1. Open fire with wood available in the outbuilding
2. The room with the oil fired boiler has been adapted into a drying room with a tumble dryer and a drying rack. Ideal for drying walking or cycling gear or if you want to keep up with the washing on hols
3. Outbuilding is lockable so if you bring a padlock x 2 you can lock bikes away
4. Power shower to boost the water pressure in the shower
5. You are allowed to walk over the estate including a charming walk up next to the river you can see from the sun room window.
It is remote - bring all you need with you! Mobile phone reception is more or less unusable. No broadband as too far from exchange.
Google maps takes you slightly past the entrance to the cottage.
