Cosy cottage! The cottage has everything we needed for our 5 night trip away with the dog. The owners were lind enough to leave us a bottle of wine and cake which was a gorgeous touch. Small cosy cottage that suited us perfectly. Kitchen was great and had all it needed inc washing machine and dishwasher however we did not use these so unable to comment. Beds weren’t the most comfortable however this can be a tricky one to get right, some like a hard mattress, others like soft. We deffinately didn’t loose any sleep over it anyway. Location wise it is lovely however can be a little fiddly to find on the Sat Nav however John the owner was more than happy to assist. Short 10 minutes drive into Matlock Bath where there are pubs, parks, shops and amusements to enjoy, not to mention a dog friendly aquarium to look around! The little garden attached was ideal for the dog to do her business and if the weather had been better, we would have made use of the seating area and bbq. The shower can be a little temperamental but nothing to cause too much fuss. There was a few board games to choose from, DVD’s and plenty of books. There is also a good size TV downstairs however we didn’t turn it on so unable to comment. Overall, really enjoy our time here and we have recommended this cottage to friends already!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and have recommend to friends and family. In a very peaceful setting in a lovely little village. The kitchen is well equipped and there is now a blind at the kitchen window. The parking is close to a corner, but we didn't find it be to an issue, and we are conscious of our car! John the owner is very welcoming and had put a bottle of wine and Dundee cake out for us on arrival.

Netherlea cottage was a nice cosy cottage and prefect for holidays in the Matlock area, it had everything you would want and we will stay there again next year, and most importantly the garden is dog safe..

Cottage has a great well equipped kitchen but a washing up bowl is needed for the sink.. There is no door on the bottom of the stairs so you can't keep dogs downstairs as requested. There are no blinds or curtains on the kitchen window or door; not very private, especially at night. Lounge sofa and chairs are a bit old and are a mis match and were not very comfortable compared to other properties we have stayed in. The property is very clean and the beds were comfy. Yard area is split level, no grass area and low height wall enclosing it means it may not be suitable for sighthounds or dogs needing a 6 foot fence. Sykes don't publish this level of detail and I think that they should to help dog owners.

I firstly want to thank John for being the most welcoming owner.. Netherlea Cottage is perfect, we have stayed in some very lovely holiday properties over the years but I have never stayed in one so spotless and pleasant. (and so well equipped) We had never been to this part of England of before and we were not disappointed, the cottage and friendly neighbours helped to make our stay even better. John kindly gave us a recommendation on where to take our two boys (Carsington Water Park & Visitor Centre) our boys really enjoyed it as did we, so thank you John, oh and the cake and wine were very thoughtful too. We have recommended the property to our parents (we did that on the first day!) and we are already looking at dates for next year... and for a longer stay too. We have never stayed twice in a property, so that is a good sign!

Nothing wrong with the cottage which was great but I try to avoid Sykes who I find difficult to deal with as their pricing can be misleading and even on this booking they took more than due from my credit card and I had to get them to make a refund.. Netherlea is a very good cottage with a very helpful owner who lives next door. Fresh and clean and good dog walking on the doorstep.

Great cottage ,lovely location although a bit hilly, made to feel very welcome with a bottle of wine and a fruit cake,if I was being picky I would have liked a iron and ironing board and a 3 seater settee to stretch out on, but comfy as is.. Thanks Brian and Josie

The location was ideal, with a great local butcher/baker and a nearby pub that offers a friendly welcome and tasty home cooked food, the cottage owner was friendly and helpful as was the neighbours.. It is situated on a steep hill which may be difficult for older visitors. We will certainly be heading back at sometime and would highly recommend this property
