Overall this is a great sized property for the recommended number of people and we would be willing to stay again, more so if the issues are fixed. Good points include the upstairs bathroom being a great size with a gorgeous bath and shower, location is great close to nice pubs and amazing walks, the garden is a great size and well enclosed for dogs, the kitchen is well equipped for cooking and has a good sized fridge/freezer and oven. The sofas and beds are a little tired but really comfy and more than fine for the purpose. There are some negatives though and points that need fixing. The washing machine wasn't working, it didn't appear to have a hot water supply and hence we were left with cold wet dirty washing. The clothes airer provided is broken with plastic parts snapped, we were unsure as to why this was left in the property, luckily we had brought our own. A few of the bulbs in the lamps were not working, these just need to be checked and replaced. No fuel was provided for the fire despite this being advertised on the listing and there was some newspaper filled with ashes at the side uncleaned. Frustratingly a lot of the doors won't close properly as the latches are either not there at all or don't work. This can make it difficult stopping dogs/ children leaving certain rooms. There is no starter pack provided so you have to crawl on the floor get to the wifi password and figure things out like laundry and bins for yourself. There was not enough hand soap and toilet rolls in the property so we had to buy more of our own. Only 3 hand towels were provided despite there being 7 of us in the house. The seal around the downstairs shower needs replacing as now the water spills out if the shower head is pointed towards the shower screen. The kitchen needs much better cleaning in the future, there was an open packet of something on top of the fridge, many of the insides of the cupboards were messy and greasy, and the floor was black when you wiped it with a damp piece of kitchen paper.

The house has a 'Tardis' feel to it.As you enter the house you are greeted with a huge hall and very impressive staircase. All four bedrooms were superb and the bathroom was beautiful.Lounge ,snug, and dining room were very roomy with everything needed for cosy nights in.Kitchen was wonderful with everything to hand.Dog friendly garden was a bonus much appreciated by Elvis, the Cocker.Village amenities were sufficient for our stay with a beautiful snooker room upstairs at the pub.Thoroughly recommend the Navigation pub in the next village of Buxworth for real ale and super food.Well worth a little drive out.

Excellent property, had a wonderful weekend stay, felt like a home from home with all amenities, very comfortable, beautiful home. We took far too much food, there is Londis shop next door but one which sold everything we needed. Beautiful location and a wonderful property, highly recommend

The house itself is a very lovely property and the photos on the website do not do it justice, the rooms are much larger than we expected, however there are errors in the description of the property on Sykes website.. The property does lack attention to detail. i.e. we had to replace the batteries in every clock in the house because none of them were working, we also replaced the batteries in the DVD remote because they had been left in so long that they had corroded and it was not working. The TV in the snug was not receiving any tv programs and we had to reset the tv to get it to work. It was very disappointing that the WiFi has a block on gaming websites. Garden was lacking attention (lawn too long, plants not pruned etc) and lowered the feeling of the quality of the property. Parking is a bit tight if you have 2 large cars, and is impossible due to parking restrictions in the village, if you have 3 or more cars, you also need to be very careful about where you do park as large articulated lorries regularly come through the village. Toilet cleaner should be provided in each bathroom. Only 1 hand towel provided in the cloakroom for the whole week (in a property that sleeps 8 people) which is totally unsatisfactory due to the current COVID situation. Furniture and decor would benefit from an update. Washing machine is temperamental and does not progress from the wash cycle to rinse/spin cycle, this needs to be done manually. Property would benefit from having a washing line of some sort as the only means of drying washing, when we visited, was the washer dryer. The discovery of food left in a kitchen cupboard and clothing from previous hirers in a drawer in the one of bedrooms, suggests that the property does not get cleaned to the standard that you would expect. The handbook for the property was seriously out of date and lacking lots of information, all appliance manuals should be in the handbook not hidden away in a kitchen drawer. The local Indian restaurant serves excellent food and are very friendly. We had an enjoyable stay despite all of the above, and would probably choose the property again if it was brought up to a better standard.

Very Good Facilities in the House (Great Showers, Cooker, Fridge Freezer).. Attention to certain details needed (eg. Bulbs, Temperamental Washing Machine, Dirty Glazing). Grand Location. Super Local Walks. Good Curry House, Old Hall Inn and Friendly Chinley Bar and Lounge (Good for Sport) just round the Corner.

Huge problems with the Wi Fi very poor at times even with something as simple as Face Book.. Upstairs shower did not drain took us about five minutes to remove hair and clean drain, a simple task that needs to be done regularly. Felt the house needed a deep clean eg; Underneath cushions , cooker etc. Overall a lovely welcoming and very warm house, lovely to see Christmas tree as we walked in. Family loved it and we all had a great week. Would revisit, but family need good wifi.

April 2019
The house was lovely and comfortable for a family get together It was disappointing when we arrived one of the twin rooms the beds were not made and we had to make them up ourselves.. Also for a house that sleeps 8 there were only 6 wine glasses , glasses were sparse and cooking equipment limited But lovely location and we loved the spaciousness and facilities in the house

We wish american airlines were as efficient as Sykes! ! The house was great, close to shops, pub and railway station (and chippy!). We were lucky with the weather so my nieces and nephew came over to play with my grandchildren in the lovely garden. It was a great success

The house is very spacious and well set up for guests.. We enjoyed our stay very much. The garden is secure for the family dog and there is a great dog walk from the house (half hour) which was lovely to walk the family's 2 dogs to take the edge off their excitement before the days activities began. There is loads of information at the house about local walks, caves, places of interest to visit and shopping and eating prospects. We found lots of challenging walks to suit our party's needs (and the hot weather) Our only gripes about the house were a couple of window locks which didn't work and the rather skimpy size of the 2 parking spaces...luckily our drivers enjoyed the challenge! The village and locality are so lovely we will certainly be back here before long.

Bright and spacious.. Kitchen is lovely with loads of tools and equipment. Could have done with more washing liquid as we didn't use the dish washer and more toilet roll. Beautiful garden to relax in. And a quiet room to escape from noisy kids. There were 3 families in this cottage but there was plenty of space. We went to visit the caves which were only 15minutes away. Would definitely recommend.

Cottage very well looked after.. Very convenient for an excellent general store, local tea house and Indian cafe/take away!

January 2018
Beautiful house, however it would benefit from modernisation in the kitchen, notably the units.. Also the dining area needs updating. Very disappointing to note lack of toilet rolls and lack of bayonet bulbs for the bedside lamps, these being basic items. Also both the general waste and the recycling bins were full, and do not have been emptied for a considerable time. Small points which would not stop us returning.

It was a perfect Christmas setting for us on a family get together.. We were delighted to see the Christmas Tree as we walked through the door. A lovely touch. The house was spacious and able to contend with four generations. It is set in a great location for both easy and more challenging walks.

Used the house as a base for a walking weekend with friends. Perfectly located for the our needs and the house was very warm and comfortable. A great shame that it was let down but the finer details- examples - only 7 towels and should have been 8 - 1 per head, no remote for the DVD player, no soap or hand towels in the toilets - just little things that can be easily rectified with a little attention.

This was our second time at Lower Lane House, it is large, comfortable and a relaxing place to stay. An excellent base from which to explore the Peak District.

December 2015
We had a fantastic weekend - 3 generations of family for a birthday celebration, together with our Labrador. The house is spacious and comfortable, in a great location 8 minutes walk from a real ale pub with good food, and there is an Indian takeaway a few doors away, which we also used. There were good walking routes on the doorstep. This house in Chinley was one of the best holiday homes we have ever stayed at, highly recommend.

February 2015
Beautiful cottage which was very homely, welcoming and very spacious. Our family had a variety of walking distance 'capability' and all of us found appropriate walks. Close by amenities were very useful and a large supermarket was not too far away. The wonderful enclosed garden made it safe for two dogs. Separate lounges made it a good place for grandma to escape from the rest of the hustle and bustle. Had extremely comfortable beds.

Bathroom, toilet and kitchen were excellent! The wooden floor and grand staircase in the entrance hall were fantastic! The Double bedrooms were beautiful and the wooden sleigh bed is gorgeous. In a great location with a 5-10 min walk to 2 really good pubs, a great little convenience shop, pharmacy and Indian all on the doorstep! Good amenities while still feeling quaint and rural!

We arrived at the house later on the Friday night and we walked in and were amazing. The hous is lovely with spacious rooms and bedrooms with 2 bathrooms. The facilities within the house were good, free wifi, tv's and many others. We all enjoyed our stay at this house. It is in a lovely location although you do have to travel for a 'proper' shop. There is a curry house next door and a little shop. Would definitely return again!

A beautiful property, very well equipped for a self catering holiday. Ideally situated for shops and lovely surroundings for dog walking and children getting lots of fresh air. We didn't even mind the rain when one day we didn't get to go out.

The cottage/house had plenty of room as there was seven of us staying. Everything was immaculate, plus the area was beautiful with the scenery and there were places to visit close by. We really enjoyed our stay.

Chinley was a small picturesque village with local shops and friendly people. The holiday home looked small from the outside but was huge once you entered. It is a beautiful property; clean and spacious, the beds were really comfortable and the kitchen facilities excellent. We really enjoyed staying there.
