We have just returned from a 7 stay at Low Tide in Weymouth and we are missing both the accommodation and Weymouth already. We have been to Weymouth many, many times over the years and returned again this year for a family holiday. We had originally booked The Boat House in the harbour but two weeks before we were due to stay, there was a leak in the property, cancelling our holiday. This meant there wasn’t much in way of alternative accommodation at such short notice. It was lose the holiday or find somewhere else to stay. There were only two properties available, Low Tide and another at double the price. At such short notice, this wasn’t a possibility. We had looked at Low Tide but were put off because of the nightclub next door. We were also put off due to the fact my father is unsteady on his feet so the ground floor bedroom and bathroom at The Boat House would’ve been ideal. The front steps of the property are quite steep and were covered in moss from the roof of the property. We cleaned it as best we could. There was also a back entrance but this also had an incline. Low Tide is a five level property, with the kitchen diner in the basement. It was however beautifully laid out with plenty of room. The principle bedroom is absolutely stunning, the view is to die for. All the bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and well presented. The two king size rooms are fantastic. Very spacious. The two twin rooms are a lot smaller but perfect for kids. The attic room isn’t great for anyone tall. Great for teenage kids with their own toilet and sink. Just watch your heads on the ceiling! The living room was big enough for all of us, 10 guests in total ranging in age from 7-72 years old. Again the view is picturesque and the two chairs in the bay window were constantly in use. We all agreed the only thing missing in the lounge were lamps. It was either no lights in the evening or the spot lights in the ceiling. A couple of floor lights would’ve been perfect. The one free parking space was a bonus. A parking permit is also supplied. Permit parking outside is available from 5pm - 10am. Luckily for us, we also had my fathers Blue Badge which entitles you to park from 10am-5pm, so we were covered 24/7. Just display both in the dash of the car and you won’t have any problems. Parking spaces are like gold dust along the front so bear this in mind. The pros of this accommodation are: The views Beautifully presented Spacious living accommodation Spacious kitchen diner Two fabulous king sized bedrooms Plenty of bathrooms/toilets - no queues in the morning Brilliant location One free parking space at the back of the property - beware, we had one random van parked there and quite an argument getting it removed - from a cleaning company (not the one the accommodation uses. Comfortable beds) Plenty of towels Drinks fridge in diner - great idea as built in is small The cons The noise from the nightclub were horrendous. It wasn’t so much the music but the people milling about outside until 4am - we bought mouldable earplugs from Boots, which were a life saver! To save from complaints in the future SUPPLY EARPLUGS! They cost pennies and it would save guests from having a sleepless night on night one! Loads of glass/nails on the designated parking space at the back of the property. This should’ve been swept before arrival. Wheelie bins were overflowing upon arrival, these were not emptied during our stay. In hot weather this would’ve been disgusting. For 10 guests, the hot water runs out very quickly, at least 3/4 of us had a cold shower every morning. No sharp knives in kitchen We found dirty washing in our wardrobe from the previous guests. A quick call to Sykes Cottages rectified this. Single oven for 10 guests - a double oven would’ve been better Slat missing in blind in principle bedroom makes the room very light all night due to lamppost outside Blind missing in roof window in attic - again makes bedroom very light - this needs attention before the summer as room would be unbearably hot Would I return to Low Tide? Yes, but not during peak season/summer months as the noise from next door would be unbearable 7 nights a week. There is no way you could sleep with the windows open, even with earplugs. We are not killjoys in anyway, but the clubs closing time, 4am on Friday/Saturday night isn’t relaxing. As stated before, the music wasn’t too bad, but the people screaming/shouting and smoking outside the lounge would ruin what should be a relaxing, fun, holiday. Especially if you have young children. We did have a lovely stay, however, we wouldn’t have booked Low Tide because of the club - it was only due to everyone looking forward to a break away and having no other option other than losing the holiday due to the flood at our original accommodation. It is a massive shame the club has such a negative affect on such a lovely holiday rental.

Stayed the week after the person below 7-14 th aug ... that week was a heat wave . What syke cottages dont tell you when you book is a truthful description of the property, it is not 50 meters from bars and restaurants that close at 12 ., its right next door to a nightclub that closes at 4am , but people are still outside chatting , smoking and singing till 6 am ... this happens everynight , not just weekends ( look up the reviews on The Nook , weymouth, to see more reviews about the noise .) This meant we could not have any windows open in a heatwave , as windows are single glazed you could still hear the noise . The house had no air con or fans , we ended up buying fans by the monday , but syke cottages wouldnt refund for the fans , as we purchased before we asked them , well sorry but we were beginning to be ill as we had not slept ! . Customers also queue up outside the house waiting to get into the club . Shame as the house is lovely , but not fit for purpose without double glazing and aircon if the weather is nice . Also emailed syke cottages about the false description of the property and our horrible experience about 15 times ... no reply... rubbish customer service!! If you like to sleep for more than 2 hours over a 24 hour period DONT BOOK !

Stayed at low tide the first week of August 2020. A nightclub next door really will guarantee no sleep, especially when it is open till 5am. Even with covid 19 restrictions the closing time was still 4am - 5am. Club staff emptied bottle skips throughout the evening and after closing time which literally woke everyone up on each occasion (if you actually fell to sleep) My bedroom happened to be the double room on the second floor which I shared with my wife and 11 month old baby. This room contains the properties boiler cylinder in a cupboard which ramped the rooms temperature up to an unbelievable level. With both windows open, door open and fan on all day and night the evening temperature never dropped below 26°. Water pipes that throughout the evening and day made a very loud high pitched scream every so often, even when water wasn't being run (which I don't understand) There were many small things that caused annoyance, such as... A digital iron and digital washing machine that even the youth struggled to use, so impossible for my parents. Mugs that can't be carried due to tiny handle. Tin camping type mugs that are very awkward to drink from. A fridge that doesn't close if you put milk in the door. It also has a condensation problem which means the fridge contents is soaked. No broom or mop and bucket. Lack of towels in each room. One huge annoyance was no list of household contents. We took an iron, a travel cot, a high chair etc to find these things already there meaning the car didn't need to be as rammed as it was. It's a beautiful property and stunning views but if you want to sleep for more than an hour before being woke up by drunk fools, bottle bins, fighting, water pipes, or the tropical humid 30° heat then look elsewhere because after the first night we wanted to go home.
