My grandchildren visited here over the weekend and found it perfect for their needs. Lots of space and far enough from the nearest house that they could be a bit noisy whilst sitting outside, without disturbing anyone. They loved that they could walk into Ambleside in about 10 minutes (since they are not big on cooking lol) and thus avoided the weekend chaos and having to find parking.

Low Brow Barn is in the perfect location for an adventurous family holiday in the Lakes. The barn is just off the main road that runs through Ambleside, just a short five minute walk will take you down to the pier where you can catch a boat to local areas of the lakes. We often did a nice 20 minute walk into Ambleside town for some pub lunch and there was lots to chose from and lots to do. A guide from the owners had been left out for us to read and was very useful. Accommodation was absolutely stunning, not to mention gleaming, everywhere was super clean! The barn has a large open plan living room and kitchen that was very well heated for such a large space, perfect for kids and dogs running around. The two bathrooms are gorgeous and equipped with heated flooring which was a lovely touch in October. Beds were really comfy and the bedrooms offered lots of storage for clothes and bags. We took our two dogs and couldn’t recommend the place more. Thank you

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at this lovely cottage. On arrival there is parking for 1 car on a slopping driveway, we had 2 cars and there was no problem as there is a large lay-by literally viewable from the cottage. The cottage has a lovely large open lounge with large comfy corner sofa and modern kitchen with dining area. Everything we could possibly need was provided. There is 2 double bedrooms with plenty of wardrobe space. Hairdryers are provided in both rooms. The cottage is ideal as it’s easy walkable to Waterhead ferry enabling easy travel to Bowness-on-Windermere and Windermere. There a loads of pubs and restaurants within walking distance in Ambleside. I would highly recommend this property and will definitely be returning.

We stayed in this cottage for 7 nights the area is fantastic for scenery and local shops. When we arrived the whole area around the garage was covered in fallen leaves and the small garden area was covered The accommodation is nice and spacious however it is adjacent to a busy main road there is a private driveway going to another property that limits the ability to park. The limited parking area to the barn is very steep and the garage is not very big, our car was parked inches from the garage door and going out one day and having to balance the clutch and the accelerator to move of the car rolled back and bumped the garage door leaving two small dents, you had to stand close to the door to see there was any damage, we had paid the insurance for accidental damage and was astounded when the cost for the damage was £1150 they must have replaced the whole door. The insurance refused to pay saying we had to claim off the car insurance. suspiciously a few hours after reporting the damage somebody came out and cleared the leaves.

The dishwasher hasn’t been well maintained and left a messy residue over everything so we had to wash a lot of stuff by hand.. Only other issue was that it wasn’t very clear on the listing/photos that it was right on the edge of a busy road. Otherwise excellent and we would definitely go back another time. Beds were the most comfortable we have ever experienced in holiday accommodation.

Low Brow Barn is both very well situated for Ambleside amenities and thoughtfully furnished.. We enjoyed a really lovely Christmas break there, so much so we have booked again in March and December.

This was a 50th Birthday gift for my brother.. He and his wife had the time of their lives and even had deer come to meet them in their back garden. They were blown away with how beautiful the cottage was, so thank you very much.

This barn is perfectly placed to explore Ambleside, which is about a 3 minute walk in.. There are plenty of walks and cycling you can do from here very easily, there is a Water sports place fairly nearby and they were excellent. Windermere is 3 miles away. This barn is on a busy road, the main one into Ambleside, which I concerned about when I arrived but actually it didn't bother us at all. The accomodation itself was excellent although we could have done with thinner quilts as we found it quite warm. The parking place is on a steep incline and with a loaded boot my car did groan at me! If you have a low slung sports car you may have to be careful when turning onto the driveway as it is steep. We want to stay here again and will be booking shortly for next year. Plenty of restaurants in Ambleside as well.

can only fault the cottage on cleanliness, the bedrooms smell of dirty mops . Pan in cupboard dirty, tiles round kitchen dirty, light above kitchen table dirty, slip mat in bath filthy, round bottom of sink in bathroom dirty. That is a few concerns . Apart from the above the locations is amazing, as is the Lake District the scenery is breath taking .

Really handy for walking into Ambleside with its cafes and shops but would recommend stopping at Booths in Windermere for food as the convenience stores in Ambleside itself are a bit limited. The cottage was equipped well and furnished to a high standard, with very cosy underfloor heating. We thought it was a great base for the Langdales, Grizedale Forest (and the Go Ape Treetop Adventure for those who like heights!) and for Rydal and Grasmere. A great area with fabulous scenery.

Just had a 2 night stay at Low Brow Barn. First visit to this property and what a charming place to stay. The location is perfect with Waterhead pier, restaurants and cafes just a minutes walk away. We had breakfast in one of the local cafes which was lovely before getting the ferry across to Bowness. Ambleside itself is a pleasant and easy 10 minutes walk in the opposite direction. There is a huge garden centre on the way which was lovely to walk around. The barn itself had fantastic views of the lake and woodland. It was spacious, spotless and stunning. Large open plan living/ diner/ kitchen area. Fully equipped kitchen with dining table and chairs. Cosy lounge with leather settees, TV and log burner. I liked the personal touches the owners had provided like DVDs, magazines, books, games and information on the local area, maps, ferry timetables, walks etc. The bathroom is modern, spacious and has an amazing shower! Two double bedrooms with king size beds, quality beddding and an abundance of storage. The barn also had underfloor heating which was perfect for keeping you warm and cosy. There was also a cute outdoor space to sit out when the sun shines, equipped with table and chairs. Car parking space right outside the property too. Can I fault this accommodation? No. Would I recommend it? Yes. Would I stay again? Absolutely! What a little gem Low Brow Barn is.

This place is absolutely fantastic The property is a dream home and you honestly couldn't wish to stay at a better property,The underfloor heating kept the place at a lovely temp and it was fantastic to walk into after a long day climbing, a prime location 10-15 mins walk to Ambleside and the great choice of pubs, restaurants, cafes and not even 5 mins to Watershead with pubs, restaurants , ferries and shops. We will definately go back and challenge ourselves with a few more walks and look forward to going "home "to Low Brow Barn . iat the end of the day

Just back from a 4 night break away, and what a brilliant place to brighten up January, from the ease of the booking to directions and the quality accommodation, was faultless. We arrived about 5pm so it was getting dark but found it right away, got parked and it was nice and warm, the converted barn is very well laid out to high spec from underfloor heating to fully fitted kitchen, no need to bring any supplies, its spotlessly clean and plenty of storage space Its just a short walk to Ambleside where there are many shops, cafe. bars , restaurants for everyone, the pier is nearby also and the ferry runs regular to Bowness This was a superb break away and sorry to leave our wee home this morning after a fantastic break, Thank you,

I am currently staying at Low Brow Barn in Ambleside and have been happy with the standard of accommodation that is on offer. Whilst staying here, because I had been happy I booked a four night break for over the Easter Weekend of 2016. Later that afternoon I had a phone call from the office saying that if I wanted to carry on with the booking I would have to pay another £300.00+, even thou it had been accepted on the Internet. Please be aware when you are booking through this company on the Internet your booking may not be all it seems and you could end up very disjointed like myself.

Overall the cottage was perfect for our needs. Just a few minutes walk into Ambleside town centre, literally 2 minutes walk from Waterhead Pier and just a few minutes drive from the Langdale Valley where we love to walk. The quality of the cottage was excellent with everything you could need included. We have stayed in a number of cottages in the Lake District in the last 3 years and this one is by far the best. Will definately be back :)

I was attracted to this property by the photographs of the place and the position which is just a short stroll from the centre of Ambelside. This meant we could hit the trails during the day but still have plenty of scope for evening entertainment. The property is as it looks in the pictures, with quality furnishings. This was better than any hotel I've ever stayed in as it was real home from home. The kitchen is fantastic with a lovely raised area for dining. We cooked for ourselves a couple of times, but Ambleside was also great for eating out. We would wander around the galleries, have a pint and then find somewhere for an evening meal. As you can see this all workied out very well for us and we have.booked to return later in the year.

Sadly I am unable to offer the same positive review like the previous ones, this was a special occasion to celebrate my father in law's 70th, there were 4 of us in the party myself and my wife arrived on the Friday evening (22-08-14) and my mother and father in law were arriving the next day, we were glad that this was the case because when myself and my wife arrived the house didn't look as though it had been cleaned, there was food under the dining table, piles of dust around all of the edges of the rugs, food (rice noodles) in one of the corners of the room, greases spills all down the front of the oven, the fridge in the kitchen was dirty (the plastic box compartment were filthy) there were dog hairs in the drawers in our bedroom, children's toys still under the sofa and broken glass on the 3 steps leading from the lounge to the kitchen diner, to say we were bitterly disappointed on our arrival would be an understatement. We then proceeded to call the 'who to contact if outside of office hours' numbers that we were provided with on the confirmation paperwork only to find that no one answered or returned our calls after leaving numerous messages on land line numbers and mobile numbers. It was the following morning (Saturday) when we finally got a reply and it was from a very confused lady whose contact details were on all of our paperwork but she said she had nothing to do with our property, never has and had no idea why her name should be the contact name for Low Brow Barn, it wasn't one of her properties and she had never even heard of it. When we finally got through to someone at the Lakes Cottage Holidays office on the Saturday morning I was told that the property HAD been cleaned, in the end they sent another cleaner to come and clean the property. I am only thankful that my in laws hadn't been there to witness the property in the state me and my wife found it in, the property that we had booked in good faith for our special occasion turned out to be a disappointing experience, the property wasn't cheap to rent at the time of year we stayed there and you shouldn't have to spend the first 24 hours of your break cleaning and trying to get problems sorted out.

Really lovely barn conversion, we have stayed in several cottages over the years in Ambleside as it is so well placed to hike, bike/ tour from, and its loaded with restaurants, hotels bars, shops & 2 very quaint cinemas , this barn is definately the best we have found so far, very comfortable beds / sofas, loads of wardrobe space, well equipped and clean. Nice little patio area outside. The traffic noise did not bother us at all, Ambleside is a buzzing little place so if you want total peace and quiet maybe its not for you . Short 10 minute walk into village and its many amenities. 3 minute walk to Waterhead where there is 2 hotels where you can eat and v.nice pub that serves food all day with great views of Windermere, you can also catch the boat over to Bowness from Waterhead . There is space for one car to park at the barn , but free parking is literally 10 feet away, weather was great while we were there, Oh and it also has WIFI . We shall be booking again for next year..

We stayed here for 1 week in april 2014.On entering the accommodation we were pleasantly suprised. The barn conversion was very spacious and very hi spec including underfloor heating, large range cooker,2 fridge freezers big screen tv+ free wifi,e.t.c,so everything we needed and more. The bedrooms were very comfortable with huge wardrobes+TV in each. The only small complaint from me would be the road noise from the front bedroom. Its close to the main road,so you hear the traffic in the morning if you are a light sleeper like me.Overall very happy with the accommodation and only a ten minute walk into town.

Fabulous accommodation, beautifully furnished with great facilities. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great location for travelling round the lakes. Only very slight downside, very close to main road so could be a little noisy at times. But would definitely stay here again as such a lovely house.

Low Brow Barn is lovely inside with all you could wish for to make your holiday comfortable, unfortunately for me the fact that it is beside a extremely busy road, resulting in to much road noise from the passing traffic ruined it for me. The Lake district is beautiful with plenty of shops, but it is very busy.

The location was lovely, thought it may be too close to the road when we first arrived but was never an issue. The cottage was clean, dog and child friendly. All we needed was within walking distance and we had an amazing week. We would most defiantly return.
