Longwell House is a semi-detached, character cottage is situated on the outskirts of the village of Selside near Kendal in the Lake District. The cottage can sleep four people in two bedrooms, a super king-size double which is zip/link and can be twin on request with en-suite bathroom and a king-size double en-suite shower room. The rest of the cottage is made up of a kitchen with dining area and an electric stove and a sitting room with woodburning stove. To the outside is ample off road parking and a front enclosed lawned garden with patio and furniture. Set in a stunning location, Longwell House is an ideal place for a wonderful holiday at any time of the year.

Accomodation Details
Two bedrooms with TV: 1 x super king-size double (zip/link, can be twin on request) with en-suite bath, separate shower, basin and WC, 1 x king-size double with en-suite shower, basin and WC. Kitchen with dining area and electric fire. Sitting room with woodburning stove.

Area
Situated 6 miles north of the nearby market town of Kendal, Selside is an area in the rolling foothillsof the Shap fells with its own church and village hall. Used as a holiday base, Selside is within easy driving distance to the breathtaking Lake District via Windermere for the South Lakes or Penrith for the North Lakes. The Western Yorkshire Dales are also just a short, lovely drive away via the town of Sedburgh. The nearby town of Kendal (sometimes known as the Gateway to the Lakes), offers a wide variety of pubs and restaurants with the Brewery Arts Centre offering live entertainment and cinema, as well as excellent dining experiences.

My parents booked this beautiful 4 bed cottage for a week in July & my husband & I stayed for a long weekend with them. The cottage is absolutely gorgeous everything is such a high quality & comfortable. Each lovely double room has a fab en-suite with lovely toiletries. The owners Christine & Andrew are extremely friendly & welcoming.

We received a very warm welcome from Christine, Andrew and their son James. Christine kindly showed us around the property and gave us a short history. The facilities are everything and more, even to the themed ribbon that was tied around the bath mats. It is an absolutely fabulous place to stay and ideal for exploring the Southern Lake District.

We had a fabulous week at Longwell.. The house was beautiful with everything we could possibly need for a relaxing break. Andrew, Christine and their son James were so welcoming and friendly, we felt more like neighbours than visitors. Even the puppies were happy to see us as we left for our hikes each morning. It was the perfect combination of friendliness whilst still being quiet and peaceful and our evenings were spent reading by the log burner....we didn't even switch the TV on once!! We will definitely be back to Longwell. The location is perfect for Kendal, Windermere and Ambleside as well as for walking in the Lake District or the north Yorkshire Dales. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Longwell House and Longwell Cottage next door is equally beautiful for larger groups. Looking forward to the next break already.

A beautifully presented fresh cottage with comfortable and gorgeous characterful decor. The hosts are fabulous and Christine's little touches of fresh flowers, Christmas decorations, bottomless fire wood and generous welcome basket make your stay even more special. Everything you could possibly need is provided plus what you may not even know you need. The views from this peacefully located cottage are spectacular. Located with easy reach of Kendal and the tourist areas of the Lakes District and the Yorkshire Dales.

A well appointed, comfortable accommodation with excellent views of the surrounding countryside.. The owners, Andrew and Christine are very helpful and keen to ensure you have a great holiday. The accommodation is situated down a long concrete track on a working farm and it is a car drive to shops, restaurants and other facilities. This may not appeal to everyone, however to those to whom it does appeal - you will not be disappointed!

A divine cottage that has gorgeous, comfortable decor of the highest standard.. The cottage has everything you could possibly need, Christine has thought of every thing. Her little touches of Christmas decorations, fresh flowers and superb welcome basket as well as a bottomless wood supply for the fire, made this truely a perfect stay. Such genuinely gorgeous hosts. The view from the cottage is amazing and hard to pull your eyes from. The location is peaceful, yet easily accessible to everything you need and tourist attractions if you wish them.

We booked Longwell House on the spur of the moment so our expectations were not great however on arrival we were met by the owner and her "bodyguard" Mac who promptly made a fuss of us greeting us as if we were long lost friends.. The property far exceeded our expectations and we can say that this is one of the best cottages we have visited from Sykes who we have used over many years. The Gibson family should be very proud of the facility they have created. Thanks to Andrew, Christine and James for making our stay memorable and comfortable. Longwell House is a beautiful well equipped comfortable house in a secluded spot on a working farm with great views.. Its so peaceful away from the bustle of the Lakes but within easy reach. Our hosts were very kind, leaving a hamper with fresh eggs. We'll certainly go there again and recommend to our friends.

We found Longwell House to be a very comfortable and well appointed property.. The farm location was relaxing, with lovely views across the eastern fells and the owners were friendly and welcoming without being intrusive. There is always an increased fly population at farm properties but the owners dealt with this well by the use of fly screens on open windows and across the front door. We had hot sunny weather all week and it was a pleasure to sit in the garden in the evening to watch the swallows and flycatchers. This is a great base from which to explore the Lake District and we would happily return to this property in the future and to recommend it to our friends.

Christine & Andrew have done a wonderful job of converting their farmhouse as a holiday let.. The standards of everything in the house was extremely high and they were perfect hosts... showing a warm welcome and interest in their guests, but not imposing in any way.

I cannot recommend this property highly enough! The location is peaceful with lovely countryside views from all of the windows. The house is the best equipped holiday property I have stayed in and felt much more like a home than a holiday property. The hospitality from the owners Andrew & Christine was exceptional, helpful, friendly but not intrusive and the welcome hamper on arrival & fresh flowers in the sitting room was lovely. This property is of the highest standard.. The furniture and fittings and decor could not be bettered. The family owners go the extra mile to make the holiday experience one to remember. To add to that, the surroundings are peaceful and views are spectacular. The situation is ideal for access to north and south Lakes, and West Yorkshire Dales. In almost 50 years of staying in self catering cottages this has got to be the best.

This property was perfect! High spec fixtures and fittings, beautiful views and very peaceful, yet not far to travel to be in the heart of the Lake District. Christine, Andrew and their son were very friendly and helpful, but not intrusive. There was a lovely welcome pack waiting for us and we were very impressed with the whole experience. We expected it to be good but not brilliant.. Fantastic comfortable clean accommodation. Great views, quality appliances throughout and very peaceful surroundings. We couldn’t want for more. Christine and Andrew are great hosts, making sure your every need were covered. You're on a farm with sheep and it was lambing season, great experience learning about the sheep and seeing a lamb born. Good size kitchen diner with full size table, every appliance that you needed was there, but not just basic stuff, high-end quality, such as Denby, Aga, AEG, with great quality fitted kitchen and marble surfaces. Both bedrooms have fantastic views where you can soak in the views. They are both doubles with ensuite facilities, one has a full size bath, both have tv’s, wardrobes and super comfy beds with great linen and pillows. I needed to work so it was important that I stayed connected, we had no issues whatsoever, we believe they are soon to get superfast broadband which would only make it better. Large tv in lounge and a woodburning stove for your extra comfort. You needn't worry about parking and access to the accommodation, It is way off the main road, with a long drive down on a concreted path (no mud track) safe parking. To top it all we had great weather, but that's something you cannot order! Thank you to Christine and Andrew, hope to see you both soon.

Beautiful cottage in a wonderful isolated setting yet just a short drive to Kendal.. The cottage was warm and welcoming. Great to have dry logs and a fire ,aid in the wood burner. A very generous welcome pack with wine, biscuits, tea bags, milk etc. Very clean high quality accommodation. Very comfortable beds. Highly recommended.

This is a perfect place for a relaxing holiday in the heart of beautiful Lake District. The location is perfect to enjoy Lake Windermere, Ulswater and waterfalls. Ambleside and Lake Coniston is easy to get around too. The owners Christine and Andrew were very welcoming and friendly to make our break very comfortable and enjoyable, not to mention the quality of the accommodation, it was absolutely magnificent. A perfect break in a beautiful cottage.
